On the day I passed my driving test, I went for my first solo drive ever in my first car. I grabbed my David Bowie tape & jammed it into the crappy old cassette player & played "Golden Years" over & over again... It's still one of my favourite memories 😎 RIP David Bowie
Thanks Justin. Grew up listening to bowie, he's still my favourite artist (genius) and at age 52 I just started learning guitar. This is the song I most wanted to learn.
Saw Bowie twice. The first time at the Freddie tribute in 92, and the last here in Perth in 2004. Loved all his classic era and right through the 80s. The word is overused, but the man was Unique. Cheers Justin, I learned Space oddity from you and ran through it a few times tonight.
Major Tom, may god's love be with you! Ashes to ashes. He was one of a kind, he was different, he was creative, he was inspiring, his life was as colourful as some of his costumes. He was one of my rock heroes but he also did show me how interesting classical music can be when he was the narrator of "Peter and the wulf". Rest in peace David Robert Jones! And thanks Justin for giving this great artist a special memorial by your tutorial.
Very sad today hearing about David Bowie... This one really hurts. Thank you Justin for a fitting tribute. We will be going thru cchanges. Ziggy's taken off for the heavens, Rest in Peace David Bowie.....
Hey Justin. Just want to let you know that I pass on many people to you when they buy a guitar from me. I think you are really inspiring for beginner/intermediate players but also for me - I never did get around to singing while playing and one day I will damn well make the time to follow your videos and do exactly that!!!!! It was a real shock to hear the news about David Bowie and its great you have done these videos as once again it shows how song writing isn't all about complicated chord structures. Keep up the brilliant work and thanks again.
Shit! This is the first I've heard about David Bowie passing away. I don't listen or watch the news or television. OMG, this is terrible news. Thank you for the tribute to a wonderful musician, Justin. R.I.P David, you've become a 'Starman'. :'(
Sad day. I don't know much of his music yet, but his museum exhibition "David Bowie is" can currently be seen in a museum my town. It is a huge happening. Everywhere throughout the city, you see people, stores, companies and outdoor places showing pictures of him for the past months. Even though I don't know him that well, I think it shows how much of an icon and musician he was and still is. And how much he means to the people. R.I.P. And, of course, a much appreciated lesson Justin. I'm almost done with stage 3 and could, without any difficulties or mistakes, play this song. Time for stage 4!
Great lesson again Justin, gutted at the news of David Bowie's passing, his music will live on :) " There's a Starman wating in the sky " RIP Mr Bowie xx
Thank you Justin! Of all the lessons you have where you sing, I think you sing the very best on this song. It's in your range and you are into the emotional side of yourself when you sing.
I agree Justin, I never met him but I knew him. The art in his music is astounding. RIP Mr Bowie. Keep up the good work Justin. I play a Maton just like you. Parraboy
An awesome talent and a great song! I remember David back when MTV was cool... The greats will never leave us, their music is their legacy! Live on Master Bowie!
Great lesson at a very sad time, thanks as ever Justin. Went to pay my respects at his house in the East Village today. Very emotional moment for me and the many others there. Such a sad sad loss.
Went to Davids house in Berlin today. Quite a few paeple there. Very touching. And very surprising to find your tribute lesson of Heroes. A part of the soundtrack of my life. Thank you David for all your songs and your arts and thank you Justin for lots of beautiful lessons!
Very powerful Justin, well said. Thanks for all your well thought out lessons for us beginners. David is being welcomed in Heavens' huge choir. God bless
Thanks Justin. By the look in your eyes one can see that you are totally gutted by this loss, as I think so many of us were. Hopefully your lessons may inspire the next generations Bowie or Lemmie, or Gary Moore.
And you're my hero. Justin! I learned my first chords from you way back in 2010 and have been playing guitar ever since. Always loved your style and your vibe. Keep on jamming :)
Justin, you are the best (online) guitar teacher i've ever seen! You can explain very well and your ideas are very good. I thank you for your nice and helpful lessons! Stay as you are! (greatings from german ;D)
Justin, try hitting the high G string in the D chord before transitioning into G, then use the easy G and hitting the high C note on the upstroke on the high 3 strings (G,B,E)...adds something before you transition into C.
I was playing this a lot after he died, and noticed the bass lick from C to G to D at "We can be heroes just for one day" is the same chromatic lick as Jimi Hendrix's "Hey Joe" outro. I find that kind of cool; I wonder if it was David or George Murray or Visconti who decided to use it, and whether they were borrowing or just doing a chromatic run.
Thank you, Justin. Thank you for doing the thing and actually publishing it for all of us. Fuck Yeah. Thank you for helping me steal time, just for one day.
Hi Justin. First off, I would like to thank you for all of your videos and hard work. The past couple of years of my life have involved a lot of upheavals and difficulties, and you have no idea how much I appreciate what you do and how much it has helped me deal with everything that's been going on. I will be sure to donate when I finally get back on my feet. I would be so grateful if you could do a tutorial of Green Day's 'Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)', as this song means a lot to me and those close to me. Peace and much love to you, brother.
Hey mate, awesome video. Favourite song of all time. I may have missed it, but is there a video of you doing the whole song, maybe incorporating that riff too?
oh man for every song I want to learn properly there is a video on your channel :D I don't know how to feel, its great but also kinda freaky :D anyway thank you for all, you're great teacher
On the day I passed my driving test, I went for my first solo drive ever in my first car.
I grabbed my David Bowie tape & jammed it into the crappy old cassette player & played "Golden Years" over & over again...
It's still one of my favourite memories 😎
RIP David Bowie
Still hurts a yr later that Bowie is gone. One of the first musicians that my friend turned me on to back in the 70's. Thanks Dan, miss you dude
There should be PALM muting for a nice, driving 1/8 (quaver), 4 beat rock groove! Will sound better, more percussive without strings ringing on!
Thanks Justin. Grew up listening to bowie, he's still my favourite artist (genius) and at age 52 I just started learning guitar. This is the song I most wanted to learn.
Sometimes I'm sad that Bowie died, but knowing that I had the privilege to live at a time to be able to witness his music brings me back up again
Why are all the good people leaving this world. Rest in peace David :(( great tutorial too!!
+Ian Leo I hope good people are replacing them.
+kingshearer2 That's a great thought there
You have to be positive mate
+TropikalWaves "Nature" will take care of you someday too.
+TropikalWaves Yes, let's all be ordinary and beige. Then no one will ever stand out and do interesting things that can make people happy.

I like these tribute lessons very much Justin. First with Motorhead / Lemmy and now this one. Much appreciated!
+JJ King Glad you like them, but I'd rather my heroes stopped leaving...
+JustinGuitar Songs Like many great artists though, he left a legacy that will live on forever, so he'll always be around when you need him!

As always, Justin. Thank you for taking the time to honor the fallen.

Please cover the entire song, Justin. I really love your renditions of a lot of these popular songs. They sound so simple and soothing.
We can be heroes for a day. Bowie was a hero for a lifetime.
HAHAHAHAHAHAA WHY???
@@AnalEyesAnalyzeAnalLies-666 ??
I cant believe it another creative genius... R.I.P David Bowie. Ziggy Stardust Lives on Forever.
We can be C chord, just for one D

+Bára Křepínská HA!
no, Ami and Emi is correct. It's the sequence, which makes the song.
Funny & beautiful...😍
I thought he skipped it too, watching his fingers, then I realized he's using the C add 9, to the G😄 Great song, one of David's best💖
Beginner here, and once again, I find your manner of explaining the chords, rhythm and techniques really good.
a brilliant lesson. You look genuinely moved. Shows the sincerity in your work.
Nice gesture Justin, and made easy for us newbies to join in - really appreciated

Nice on Justin.... DB was a big inspiration on my visual art work. now i get to learn how to play those songs myself.
I agree Justin, I never met him but I knew him. The art in his music is astounding. RIP Mr Bowie.
Keep up the good work Justin. I play a Maton just like you. Parraboy
+guy douglas what is the model of the one in the video?
Justin, you are the man! I knew you'd have something up here straight away for Mr. Bowie. Awesome!
I'm back, just wanted to say another thanx to Justin for an exemplary rendition/lesson - Hey Justin you are truly special.
You're great Justin. Thanks. Bowie will be sorely missed and very well remembered.

Those Robert Fripp guitar lines (the e-bow sounding bits) really make the song IMHO.
Thanks Justin. By the look in your eyes one can see that you are totally gutted by this loss, as I think so many of us were. Hopefully your lessons may inspire the next generations Bowie or Lemmie, or Gary Moore.
thanks for these lessons justin! I've learned more about playing from your videos than anyone else's.
Love u justin. I tried re stringing guitar myself during covid lockdowns, but goes out of tune quickly. Taking it to shop! Need to play again.
I cried listening to you play Heroes... I didn't expect that.
Great lesson as always Justin. Can hear the sadness in your voice. I still miss David Bowie :(
that really is a beautiful way to pay tribute to an artist. way to go! ciao from Italy :)
What better way to pay tribute to someone than to play their songs? And you teach us how Justin, highly commendable! Thank you!
Fabulous tribute Justin... enjoyed playing along with that and remembering the man. Thank You.
I saw him live in 1990 , awesome RIP
Brilliant !... Thanks for posting this Justin. Your opening comment above is Spot On !

Thank you, Justin, that was a great lesson as always.
terrific Justin....Illustrates that you can play very different variations .
Very nice
Such a shame this irreplaceable legend left us. His music really influenced my perception of rock.
Just what I wanted to see. I was hoping to learn this song and your video is perfect. Thank you for sharing, Justin.
Thank you so much for another awesome lesson. So sad to hear of his passing this morning.
DUDE!! You are a gift. Thanks for this.
Justin, try hitting the high G string in the D chord before transitioning into G, then use the easy G and hitting the high C note on the upstroke on the high 3 strings (G,B,E)...adds something before you transition into C.
It's not what you say. It's how you say it. Worlds greatest two chord song!
Justin, I like the way you play the four fingered 'C' not the more favoured three finger variant. I do the same. But with far less style.
Another great vid Justin. Your face says what those who love music are feeling right now......
What a tune , you can hear the sadness in your voice 💔 .
Great lesson, Justin!! It's what I was listening to on the way into work this morning and will add to my guitar practice tonight.
Nice tribute, thanks Justin.
Great lessons Justin, really appreciate it. From Chicago.
Very nice ...A favorite of mine . The White Duke will be missed

A fitting tribute to the man himself, superb as always Justin
Well done Justin. Thx.
