- Finally finished it!😄 This video has been a long time in the making, and the well timed visit to RHDR, got this idea going.
A while ago, i started becoming interested in the origin of the crosby chime whistle, needless to say, i went ahead and started researching, when i saw Winston Churchill was involved, i was more excited to go to RHDR, then ever!
Thank you to all that helped, without you, this wouldn't be a thing!
Anyways, hope you enjoy the video and an insight into something rarely talked about!
i just love the a4 whistle. and it's just so incredible, hearing an a4 pass by with a 9 coach train at 80mph. just so iconic.
Indeed, a sight we will soon see again!
I guess that's how Britannia, Angry Ollie and Duke of Gloucester got their chime whistles in turn. A2 Blue Peter and A1 Tornado also have the chime whistle, as well as higher pitched ones. I wonder if any Santa Special trains will be seen on your railway. Christmas isn't very far away.
Indeed, it all started with an RHDR engine
Interesting video, nicely made. Does Hurricane have one of the original style A4 whistles? I'm sure I read that Gresley gave one to the RHDR, and this one was fitted to no8. Also NGG16 138, on the WHR, has Silver King's whistle which was given to the legendary Bill Hoole when he retired, later donated to the FR. :)
Thanks. I did hear that, tbh not sure, hurricanes currently outta service, so no way of knowing. Hopefully i got the right whistle..👀😬😅
0:57 that whistle souds like Nia's whistle from Thomas and friends
Ye, it does a bit
This whistle was also famus for being in The Wonder Brothers movie Harry Potter for the Hogwarts express
The whistle used is 73082 Camelot, which is a further development of this whistle 🙂
It just sounds vary simuler l think thare all the same whistle becaus thay have the same shape
this part sound like the Hogwarts express 0:05
Wonder if the new build P2 will have this whistle?
