how old are you cuz the older you are the more the recovery hurts.

its my second day and i feel like I cant swallow.
I took mine out like before yesterday and till today I can't talk, laugh , cry , swallow , I can only breathe and it hurts a lot when I swallow

The day of my surgery I ate 3 boxes of fries from canes a big burrito a dairy free nutrition shake and drank about 15 bottles of water :)

g.gracelee I’m luck I guess lol literally throughout the whole recovery I could eat and speak perfectly im now on day 15 and have had no pain since around day 10. I would say the pain level on the first 7 days was around a 2 for me. Also I would really like to give props to my vaporizer which helped me stay hydrated so much and I drank plenty of water as well. Good luck on the rest of your recovery

My son just took them out today. He is 6 y old . It hurt me so much just to see him after he wake up. Make me cry like crazy . The first 1 h he didn't stop crying then they give him a painkiller and that's hellp him a lot . After that he started eating popsicle and ice cream. I believe he finish 5 popsicle in 2 h . All that was between 10am to 2 pm . Now it's 10:30 pm and he's sleeping but I'm sure with a pain. Hope he get better tomorrow. At the same time was around 8 kids having the same surgery some of them did very good and some a lot worse than son. So it's difference between person to other .

Hi, im on day 13 post op. Don't forget ice pack. It helps! Let them rest on the ear, jaw, and neck. It sooth the pain out of me. I wish your kid will become better asap. All the best! From malaysia.
I got my tonsils taken out about 8 years ago it's probably the worst pain i've ever experienced in my life when i woke up i immediately threw up, swallowing hurt like hell
I got my tonsillectomy yesterday and my throat hurts constantly

I’m on day 7 and had to go to the clinic for an IV bag for dehydration
I'm on day 3. yesterday I puked up all the pain killers. This sucks.
I was just through tonsillectomy and I'm on day 12, and you can actually start eating bread on this day. Just make sure to take small bites, eat with butter and water, and NO CRUST. And the bread should be white bread. You can also have gatorade and other cold drinks

Wow y’all are crazy. I could eat solid food every day with ease. Pain level up to day 10 was about a day a 2. I could speak loudly every single day. Just stress staying hydrated and get a vaporizer . Sleep next or it!

I got mine out last Friday and the first day of having my tonsils removed I threw up, today my ear was hurting and my throat hurts bad when I swallow, and I’m 12 btw, the pain makes me not wanna eat food cause it hurts bad but hopefully I recover fast

Can anybody give me more specific details about the foods you can eat as you recover? Most places I've been to keep telling me I have wait until at least two weeks before you can eat like normal again, whereas I know that there are plenty of things like breads, meat and vegetables that aren't as hard as the others and it isn't that likely that they'll bother your throat. Does anybody have anything like a day by day schedule of foods that are gradually more hard that I can try as I recover?

It's been over a week and my teenage daughter can't eat. Her throat is too sore. It was a week ago yesterday
I'm 6 days after operation and I'm gonna try protein shakes or something because I swear I feel my body eating my fat since I can't eat
I have tonsillitis and am finding it hard to even swallow salivia never mind food. This is the second time I have had it so I won't be getting them out. What can I eat that wont hurt my throat when trying to swallow? x
I just got them removed yesterday and I’m 28 I’ve never seen any pain that’s worst than this except C-section 😭dk what to eat or drink at this point it feels like i have big meat stuck in my throats
itzz been 4 days now since the surgrey but i have the hardest time swallowing stuff even water my ears hurt and i get really bad fever on top of that everyday i wakeup and i cant breate or i have a hard time too at this point i miss my tonsils

I couldn't even drink for 2 days when I got mine out. I couldn't eat for almost 2 weeks.
My sister can't eat from last Friday after surgery. Her mouth is dry now and she just cried like a baby crying for food. I'm so upset for her .it's been 8 days and she's starving

An old lady once told me an old timers remedy for the scabbing and pain after tonsil surgery. The lady is dead now but she was aroud 83 at the time she said this. She said that when she had her tonsil surgery as a young lady her father made her eat a big steak in order to peel the scabbing off the back of her throat and promote faster healing. Believe it or not she said the next day her throat felt 100% better and her pain subsided from that point on and her throat healed quickly.

You arnt supposed to eat dairy or I've cream after..
You can, just minimalize it to milk and vanilla ice cream. And make sure the ice cream is melted a little.
And make sure it is at least day 11 before having milk. I myself am a milk lover, so I reccommend chocolate milk to have, it gets rid of bacteria in your stomach. So get some chocolate milk on at least day 10. After this milk is literally fine to have.

It creates a build up of mucous in your throat that can be hard to clear out without irritating your throat.
No, its not I beg to disagree. I have my tonsils move out four days ago. Yes, it will hurt if you will not drink lots of fluids and water.
I got a tonsilslectomy six day ago I have try many times to eat, whether it was a smooth cold ice ice cream pudding mash patatoe soup TOAST the soft part but I physically can not get a single thing of food down going on my 7th day of only liquids I’m so hungry and I’m stressed about not being able to eat I have contacted my dr but they say it’s normal personally I don’t think so please help I need advice ASAP!!

That’s definitely normal. I lost 10 lbs in a week after surgery. I’ve been eating soft fish and Mac and cheese.

I know that's right . I just got mine taken out yesterday & been throwing up n can barely talk . It's the most painful thing to experience ever 😩😩

They put me on a diet of chicken nuggets and fries straight after the operation.
also 10 days after the surgery here's some tips: don't drink any juice , coke is the most comfortable to drink and meat inside a russian roll is very soft and comfortable to eat and as always ice cram is very soothing for the throat.

try to eat hard stuff but i wont reccomend hurting yourself so maybe just soft chicken
