I love when Owen Wilson said “How” in this episode, it sounded like his typical “Wow”
I noticed that too :) So close to what so many of us want :)
Owen Wilson is a national treasure
Sounded intentional to me.
"How" is just a "Wow" variant.
@@GerardoMurrayTenis4 Underrated comment.
Me when Mobius dies: Aw, noo.
Me when Loki dies: He's not dead. Oh, Mobius isn't dead either. Nice.
That’s exactly what I thought too
Kachow
Given there was never any residue I always anticipated that the device was simply a teleportation type device? Looking fwd to watching essentially "the man behind the curtain"
My exact reaction
She remembers. Sylvie escaping is probably the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to Ravonna she probably thinks about it a lot so I’m sure she remembers why they took sylvie from her timeline
She definitely said no just to hurt Sylvie
It looked like she smirked when she said she doesn’t remember aswell
also there's files on it and since its such a big case she definitely read up on her files once they found out it was sylvie going around doing time travel shenanigans
She definitely remembers and thinks of it every day
That or a "For me...it was Tuesday." MBison/Raul Julia moment.
I haven’t seen many people talk about how in Thor Ragnarok, Thor tells Valkyrie that he admired them growing up and wanted to be one of them, until he found out they were all women. I think Sylvia particularly admiring them or wanting to be like them as well indicates she would’ve went a more heroic “Thor” route than the usual Loki mischievousness. Hence the nexus event.
Yeah that’s what i’ve been hearing too. The timekeepers want loki to be a bad guy and she wasn’t going to be the villain they wanted.
"Maybe that's the feeling he'd never experienced before, friendship."
Reminds me of Arrested Development when Gob and Tony Wonder think they're gay but they're actually experiencing friendship for the first time
That was so damn funny
Why would it have mattered if they were hiding in a world ending event? The show can't abide by it's own rules. If they were set to die nothing they did should've caused a branch.
@@kfernandesless it caused a branch because they were not dead and found each other, also the branch was as bad as it was because of the feelings they started to express for each other. Friendship or romantically doesn’t really matter, that was never meant to happen.
@@sparkymist but the whole reason they hide in these events is because what they do there is inconsequential and doesn't alert the TVA. They would've died if the TVA hadn't had saved them and anything they did wouldn't have mattered.
@@sparkymist Hiding in these cataclysmic events is how she evaded the TVA for so long. It doesn't make sense.
I don't think Sylvie's nexus event was being a girl, I think it's because she was too good. She was saving people and acting out being a hero when she was playing with the toys instead of being the villain.
If the issue was her being a girl I don't see why they wouldn't have stepped in earlier?
what if she's a nexus being
I think the notion that she was starting the idea of being a hero instead of a villain is the exact reason she was set to be pruned. You are spot on. I mean she was idolizing a Valkyrie for Odin's sake.
That's what I guessed too, since she had Asgard being saved instead of destroyed
If the TVA agents are all just variants too she could have just been taken to have her mind wiped and be another agent.
@@jughead18sp nexus beings dont have variants. They are the same being in all universes

What the fuck Seth
The interesting thing is that she has a ship pulling up to the bridge as warriors fight fenris and valkerie also shows up. So somehow she is showing the events of Ragnarok as a kid.
Maybe eventually she would have gained the ability to see the future? Maybe that's why they took her as a child.
@@josearmando726 I think It might be because that event was already destined to happen, like all the things that actually happened in the movie have been in Asgardian mythology for a long time?
In Marvel, Ragnarok happens every ten thousand years or more. When it happens all the souls of the Asgardians are reincarnated, so it's possible Silvie is a different reincarnation of Loki.
@@liamoliver5848 that's not how it works in the MCU. Ragnarok literally would have killed all the Asgardians if they didn't leave on the spaceship. Like they probably wouldn't have come back like they did in the comics
@@pickedceasar1216 Well we don't know if that's how it works in the MCU, we've only seen it happen once and no one died except Hella.

Nailed it. That was the vibe I got.
If everything pruned goes to battle world then that means Casey's cart is somewhere there too, a cart full of infinity stones
They'll probably go the comics route where they only work in thier own universes, so those are just pretty rocks
They dont work outside of their slice of the multiverse
@@peterdelisle7083 I thought it is the same universe but different timeline
@@peterdelisle7083 The MCU is a universe within the comics multiverse. They really don't have a choice, but to go with the comics rule. Also, as Gorrium points out. These are timelines, all within the same universe. Otherwise they would not have worked in Endgame.
@@Deception975 the mcu is not part of the comic multiverse
Putting in the Daredevil clip when Maso said "microwave" is a fantastic deep cut (6:20). Well done lol

Loki: Loki Loki
The Lokining

Back in the Habit
Ideas: Sylvie is a "heroic Loki" and must therefore be pruned, but as a Loki she "brings out the better version" of the Tom Loki and causes a Nexus event. Meanwhile a variant of Kang the Conqueror is searching for strong timeline shattering variants that she/he can use to ensure a future that can be ruled.
Lady sif kept saying "you will always be alone" so i interpreted the nexus event not as a romantic thing but rather just loki not being alone
Exactly. Both of them are destined to be alone forever, but at the end of the 'world' they both were going to die not alone (bad wording but you get what I mean).
Same. I don't see a romantic relationship.
They where technically only with themselves during the event so they were “alone”
legit.
Not theorizing but thats just so cool, its romantic its the power of friendship, its self love such a interesting lens for all those tropes.
Loki falling in love w himself is the only thing that could have ever made sense for him. I love it I hope they go for it
I don't think the Loki x Sylvie thing is that weird, it works, but only for Loki. He's a massive narcissist so why wouldn't he fall for himself? It's kinda weird, but it makes perfect sense.
30 rock did it better
Also keep in mind that the show establishes how different loki and sylvie are, so I dont now how true is that
Nah, it's gross.
@@deanospimoniful if you don't like it don't watch it lmao
It's not weird even a little bit
Not an Owen Wilson project unless he calls his friend an asshole and reconciles before the climax. Loki actually had one friend before Sylvie, M. M. Mobius.
Loki did seem genuinely sad about Mobius being pruned. Like, he finally made a friend and then lost that friend.
Mobius breaks my mind. His name is an obvious allusion to the Möbius Strip, but what does it mean when it doubles? Was he a rebel against the TNA (or Kaecilius who is most likely behind it) before he was brainwashed and will end up the same when the show is over?
16:16 when maso asks what's the word they use. I've never seen such confidence in a lie when James replies "discombobulated". He didn't even flinch like yep, that's what they say. Hahahhahaha they say Pruned
“Pruned” needs to be a commonly used term now.
Calling it now: that pen from before that Renslayer doesn’t elaborate on has something to do with why she and Mobius are friends. I think they were both variants at the same time, but for whatever reason, Renslayer was allowed to keep her memory, and the pen. They probably went to the same school and were good friends, and both got thrown into the TVA. Hence why she says they have a special bond: because we have no reason really to think they have a special bond. That is unless, there’s something we don’t know. I have a feeling episode 5 will give us that context
Update- it did not
“He thinks he’s Daniel Day Lewis but he’s more… pile of crap.” Sums him up perfectly.
I was thinking James Franco.
Can we talk about how fucking weird the clothes are? Loki’s shirt collar covers his entire shoulder, and Mobius’ jacket doesn’t even have a lapel. The spot where the lapel should be is just a cutaway from the jacket in the shape of a lapel
Yes! the collar! I couldn't look away! Can I just not see the join at the neck? Nope it is a giant collar!!!!
I didn’t notice that, but I did notice they wear square ties, which looks really odd to me.
Not just Loki's shirt, it's the same TVA shirt-with-a-weird collar that Casey & maybe also Mobius are wearing (damn, now I gotta go back and look again)
Are you serious man theyre in a trippy retro themed infinite time dimension and you act like these clothes are weird? I can think of like 10 sci fi movies where the clothes are just actually horrendous in every way, this is just small things like a missing lappel or weird collars lol.
There's a cool Japanese tailoring book called Pattern Magic that features tons of fabric fuckery like this, I think they used volume 2? I've only seen volume 3 around. It's a cool costuming choice to show that however familiar the retro 70s deco is, things are underlyingly wrong in a way you can't quite put your finger on. It's subtle but incredibly effective, fantastic costuming in both concept and execution.
Crazy theory but what if Miss Minutes is the one in charge? Tara Strong did say how there's more to her character, it'd also be a cool twist since we already know the character and she is also an a.i. so wouldn't be a stretch for her to control the time keepers.
I want Miss Minutes to be a varient of Jarvis
Miss Minutes is also my bet. I can't believe a lot of reviewers forgot about her when figuring out who controls the TVA.
I’d find that hilarious but I think a lot of people would be so mad if that happened
It’s absolutely that. Idk why this isn’t everyone’s first thought
Yeah I’m pretty sure it’s her. They even hinted at it with Loki asking her “What are you?” and we haven’t gotten and answer yet.
How come everyone at the TVA isn’t running around like headless a headless chicken after Sylvie set off all the time bombs at the end of ep2? We see it creating a whole bunch of branches which was seemingly the big distraction she needed to try to get to the Timekeepers, but there’s not even a one-sentence mention of them getting that all under control after that? Really ruins the impact of the big ending of what was so far the best episode
Exactly, it's like it never happened. Ep3 should have at least aknowlegde that by showing the TVA going nuts trying to put the timeline back on track. Maybe you could put someone informing Slayer "we did it, we save the Sacred timeline" while breathing exhausted and sweating. Then they see this new nexus event (the "love" event if you will), which leads them to find Loki and Sylvie
The best thing about Richard E. Grant's Loki is that he's not playing an aged version of Loki like some might have speculated, he's literally playing Classic Loki. THE classic Loki. He's played by an aged actor bcs Classic Loki looks very aged, wrinkly and nowhere near as attractive as Tom Hiddleston is. Even Stan Lee admitted once that he intentionally designed Loki to be ugly as possible as a contrast to Thor. Not to downplay Richard's look but he's as close it gets to portray an accurate live version of that lol
Nah man I legit yelled and laughed out loud when I saw the other lokis. Not in a bad way it was when I looked at that Loki and though “oh my god they’re doing stupid old comic Loki.” This I the first time I’ve felt marvel really leaned into stupid comic stuff and I’m pumped
Richard E. Grant makes saggy sadness sexy. He can be ridiculous and louche and a hero all at once.
Did classic Loki tote a handbag in the comics? Because Richard E was definitely hanging it off his shoulder like a classy lady should.
Stan Lee designed Loki? You might want to investigate this guy called Jack Kirby.
@@telekmetyk
Would it be accurate to say Stan Lee conceived of Loki as ugly? Or would that be another case of Lee claiming someone else's artistic labour?
The video EDITOR is on FKN point in this one. He truly is powerful in the Force.
Can't wait for some Loki to say, "Loki... Assemble!".
I want the plural of Loki to be Lokii and pronouced like they're an ancient barbarian tribe.
Kid Loki: We're all already here.
Loki: Quite right.
I think the plural of Loki is actually Lokis - Lokies? I mean, he;s not a cactus or octopus...

The location Loki was sent too seems like the zone in where Iron man never made it into the portal but blew up the earth instead. So its the timeline in where Loki won in 2012 as he wanted.
Oooooo good point
Nope it's Avengers Tower not Stark Tower. And Avengers Tower only exists between 2014(Winter Soldier) to 2017ish(Homecoming)
If it was the aftermath of Avengers 1 then it'd be Stark Tower.
@Punch Line True, but I feel that would probably just be an unnecessarily bit confusing for mainstream audiences.
But YES. You are technically correct!
Theory: Lokigator was the one talking at the end of the after credit scenes voiced by Richard E. Grant!

Thats quite clever👍

Cheeeerrrrs legend!!!!
When mobius knew the jig was up after they came out of the portal, i knew he was done for... and it was sooo upsetting. Then the very second Loki was pruned, i knew "oh ok... so it doesnt kill them" because they wouldnt get rid of Tom Hidleston like that.
I was always kind of suspicious. I figured maybe it didn't kill them but just reset them somehow or something like that. Then Mobius got it and based on Renslayer's reaction, I was like SHIT! It DOES kill them!? Fuck! But then Loki got it and for a second I thought, well, I guess Sylvie is leading S2, but then I remembered President Loki and went, nah, they're not killing off Tom.
They could kill one Loki and just get another. Difference here is that one, trailers, two, this Loki has had too much character development to die there
@@lyndsaybrown8471 So did the Loki from Ragnarok. Didn't stop them killing him off in Infinity War.
@@ultimamage3 they mean that loki has had a whole 4 episodes of development so they’re not killing him off so unceremoniously like that, Infinity war did it so that thanos was an actual threat from the jump

Ben really just put in that clip of Daredevil throwing a microwave at someone's head for that one line huh
The Loki and Sylvie thing makes me uncomfortable too... which is exactly why I think it's brilliant. I mean it is just PERFECTLY Loki.
I mean, it’s two separate bodies. With two separate brains and two separate personalities. I don’t think it’s too bad. :p
I didn't take it as romantic, more like they were both alone till now
I think it would make me uncomfortable if they were the same person. Sylvie is just a completely separate person put in the same situation as a child
Definitely less weird than the horse beastiality, thing.
I find it funny that ppl find this uncomfortable. Why exactly? Thay are from different universes. Thay couldn't be further apart as characters. If youre talking about how it was a hamfisted and awkward romantic subplot tho, then i wholeheartedly agree.
I don’t think Sylvie was taken in by the TVA because she was a girl Loki, if that were the case then they’d have taken her long before she grew up to that age. I think maybe they took Sylvie because she wasn’t going to become a mischievous Loki. She’s playing with a toy valkyrie, which maybe hints to her wanting to do good and help people, rather than be what the TVA needs Loki to be. So when the deviances in the timeline became too much with Sylvie, the TVA stepped in before she started to change too much.
She's still born the Goddess of Mischief, but she was definitely going to be a good guy. She called out for them to help the other random dude who was being arrested by the TVA. But Loki isn't supposed to be a good guy according to someone. ( I think it's Kang )
@@markamanic She definitely was going to become a good person, but she might have already experienced time travel and de-ageing, because she had a toy based on her child (Fenris, the wolf from Ragnarok).
BTW, Loki's other children include a horse with four legs and a huge snake.
@@GothamClive Yeah, but thats comparing actual mythology to the Marvel version. because shouldnt Fenris then be a child of the Loki from our timeline? that would imply time travel was a thing before endgame.
@@GothamClive Also, I think you meant to say 8-legged horse, Sleipnir. all horses usually have 4 legs :P

Believe it was confirmed that "Wow" would not be said by Owen Wilson. Jimmy Kimmel showed Owen an impression Tom did of him awhile ago, though, so maybe Loki will say "wow" in an impersonation of Mobius. Talk about flipping a genre on its head!
The hidden lesson in Loki is “learn to love yourself”

No
That smirk she had right before saying it, hints to me that she just says that in order to anger her.

There’s a third reason the judge mightn’t have remembered Silvy’s abduction; we’ve seen that “trimming” may not be the death it seems so possibly the variants in the TVA were abducted and trimmed by each other and made to forget so they don’t recognize one another
She said she forgot and did the im a bitch smile. She knows
I've loved every loki episode
"Lizards don't have beards!"
Bearded lizard "am I a joke to you?"
I LOVE the relationship between Loki and Sylvie, it's completely relatable to someone like me who's been suffering with depression for 10+ years. Those who don't like it, I feel have a healthy brain. This isn't about two people loving each other, it's about learning to love yourself. This whole episode was about this concept. "You're going to be alone forever" is the torture, not being struck, which is why he Loki is able to stop the physical punishment and not the words. Loki is able to see the good things represented in Sylvie he was unable to see in himself, and vice-versa. That's beautiful writing. Anybody who says otherwise, can't relate to how it feels to live your life feeling like there's nothing of value you have to offer.
The reason she asked mobius where he’d want to go is because she planned to zap him there for retirement.
Good thinking. Maybe he is on a jet ski
She didn't ask him did she? He just told her.
@@Tom44224 she asked him a couple times in her office.
My daughter and I just finished watching, and she immediately made the point that the color of their staffs is the same color as the soul stones. And Casey said SOME of them use them as paperweights. So maybe it doesn't send them all to a pocket dimension, it traps them in soul stones 😳
Considering in the comics, Ravonna is the wife of kang and she’s seeming a little suspicious, I kind of see the big bads being those two
props to collins who got a full 3 second clip on which a couple of frames show daredevil throwing a microwave at someone, just because james used the word microwave, art.
also been loving the bo burnhams inside clips, man of culture
Before anyone starts judging Loki and Sylvie having a romantic relationship just try to remember how many times you've given yourself a H-JOB.
That's literally what I was gonna say lol
😂😂
No judgment from me, I'm doing it right now!
i think they broke “you will always be alone” the saying “you’re never alone when you have yourself”
team of Loki, a group of people with themselves
Nice work sir, legitimately made me laugh.
I like the idea that Lokis feelings for Slyvie is him finally loving himself since Owen Wilson says the point of Lokis is to help people reach their potential
"We just love likes"
"Fair enough"
*hits like*
Loved the pig rolling down a hill cameo
