This is a high quality camera. I bought this thinking it being useful at night while I drive 100+ miles thru the countryside to get to work. With that said, it is useless as a night time driving aid. You can't make anything out on the monitor as you drive. It is a tiny screen and you can't monitor it and watch the road. If you stop you can see objects very good but it's useless while driving. It is a good camera for recording your drive other than that. It does not have GPS which could save your butt on a traffic stop. I recommend a much cheaper camera would serve you better. (with GPS)
I bought this 03-08-2022 and just used this months on 01-2023 because the pormido triple mirror dash 12 is acting up keep cut it off by itself and I am so amazed this quality is beat my older and very sharper brighter and very clear especially I am getting older every day of my eyesight is very bad in wears glasses and this camera helps me drive at night so I won’t ran into a poles or any keep right sign it is happened before because my eyesight is terrible.
Good review. I have a 21 black widow package so my dash has a hood vent which protrudes even more. I too wish the center stowage spot house a dash cam. Unfortunately it isn’t good. But I also have a tinted windshield and don’t want suction cups sticking to it. So finding a cam proves difficult. Thanks for the review. I also wish given the lifted truck that GM had added side sensors on the bumper like Ram did.
Good review! I like th eidea to compare normal vision, regaular dashcam and the product reviewed. Got one question thou... When we look at the "live" version of the lanmodo, the scale is all fucked up (its stretched wide), whereas the actual recording keeps the scale correct... So what's happening? I don't care about recording, i only want NV because i live where there are LOADS of deer at night. So if this product can only show a distorted image, its not really usefull as you could think you have enough space between the deer and the side of the road because its stretched out, only to roll off road....
I just bought one after watching this video, so I hope it's as good as you say. I've got a 6 hr trip this weekend, driving at night. If they ask, I for one, have never even heard of this one. So, they genuinely owe you credit.
@@ogsubae depends how you'd want to use it. First, it isn't true night vision. It's not even infrared. It's just a dash cam with a larger screen and a sensor that's a little more sensitive to light. If you want to run with your headlights off, like for hog hunting, then it's pretty dang good. But, with your headlights on, it's not much advantage. It sees better in the median, except that it's so much smaller than seeing with your own eyes, in which case your probability of seeing something with your own eyes is really about the same. Also, the lowest brightness setting is technically too bright for night driving. So, looking at it reduces your own low light vision. I have a feeling that without the camera, and your eyes adjusted for darkness, you'd be able to see just about as well as looking at the camera. And, then there's the whole stretched image issue. They stretched the image in the middle part of the screen, so objects are wider than reality. For hog hunting without headlights ... it would be great. For spying on a cheating spouse ... it would be great. For seeing deer on the edge of the highway ... not very helpful.
@@tpaulmacis the rear camera as good as the front one? Would it be a good idea to replace the real rearview mirror with this digital one (as in some Toyotas and Cadillacs)?
Wouldn't it be better to have good night vision coming from the rear camera as well? Or would the rear car headlights make this impossible? Usually when I drive my bright headlights work fine at illuminating the road ahead but everything behind me is pitch black even on my wolfbox rear cam.
It seems like gm would be able to utilize one of the many cameras in our truck to record and be used as a dash cam. I’d hate to cover up the beautiful video rearview.
Bought mine yesterday, which was the last day for early bird, but yeah, I wont be clipping it on rearview mirror, it will be on my dash, cant wait for april to receive it
If you mount on your rear view mirror, does this not allow you to use rear view mirror as intended. Or does the Lanmodo’s screen as as a mirror when normal driving? Thanks great video
The screen only works as a screen, it wouldn’t work as well as a conventional rear view mirror. I mounted it in that location to help make the video and show comparisons.
Thanks for the video. My reason for wanting one of these is to see the deer before they run in front of my car. How difficult is it to be driving 50-60mph and monitor this screen for animals running out from the side?
My suggestion would be to have it compliment you field of view. There is a fine line between it being a distraction and being attentive to the road. I would do some test’s until you figure out what is best for you. Answering how difficult it is would depend on many factors. The deer could be running across the road, grazing on the shoulder, hard to say.
I got mine in but it’s not good at all. When you’re on a dark country road and turn your lights completely off the camera doesn’t pick up anything. It’s as black as the night. I’ve messed with the setting but there’s not much you can do. For $250 I would. For buy this again.
what is the screen size on that one I got the othet 4k model and the viewer/screen is no more than 3.25" so if the one you are testing is larger good for you.....also having a shit of a time getting it to record.lots of buttons though
At this point I have just been testing it. A suction cup or adhesive mount at the top of the windshield would make the most sense in my vehicle. I wanted it to fit in the tray at the top of my dash, but it doesn’t. We’ll see. For now it portable when I want to use it
@@Donslife Sounds good! I’d prob do the suction to the windshield. I do recall seeing some device that mounts inside the Sierra dash cubby that has adjustable arms on it for IPads etc… no clue where I saw it tho.
Hi Sovan. I have a question if you don't mind eme asking. In this video, the live picture is stretched out to the point of deforming the image, but not the "actual recording" version... Can you tell me if the live screen really take tha image and make it almost twice as wide as it is in reality? You can see what i mean when he shoes us the house. In the lanmodo, it looks like the house has two double garage door in stead of two normal door they are so wide....

While the vehicle is parked will the Lanmodo drain your battery down or does it have a feature where it detects your battery life and shut itself off so it does not completely drain your vehicle battery?
Go to 10:22 and you’ll see the headlights are off for a few examples but both the dashcam and Lanmodo show the background without the use of headlights
24fps. Sorry the preproduction sample I was sent did not have published specifications for live feed latency. It seems similar to one of my 1080p dash cams.
Is it possible to use the lanmodo nightvision combine with another dashcam? I mean i have the dash cam system on my vehicle and would like to add just the nightvission divice
This is a digital rearview mirror, but nobody demonstrates the footage from the rear camera 😵💫 Who is going to watch the screen while driving forward, especially in low visibility conditions? That's useless
Terrible video quality during the day, distorted colors and noisy image at night. That camera is probably not 1080p, but 480p and the video is interpolated. In addition, it looks like plastic lenses in the camera. The price of that camera is ridiculous.
