I agree with the second half of your statement and part of the first. Unions used to be good and very helpful. But now that we have labor laws they are harmful. they are actually crippling businesses. Unions only exist to make money for those who run them now under the guise of helping workers.

I spent 6 weeks in Venezuela in 2004, not long after Chavez came to power. Then the same situation had occurred. The Venezuelan bolivar dropped from 760 to a dollar to 2000, in a few weeks. This new collapse was bound to happen as soon as the oil prices collapsed. I wasn't even aware until I arrived and changed money at the airport. I had almost a sack full of cash. Anyway I managed to get to my hotel safely enough in central Caracas. It was like the wild west, gunfire constantly at night, possibly worse than Chicago. I then travelled the country for 5 weeks and it was an adventure I'll never forget, exciting but darn dangerous. This video is well made and it is NOT an exaggeration. Socialism =poverty, slavery, police state, hunger, economic collapse, crime. This is what Democrats want for the USA and Europe , to be just as poor as the rest of the world.

Socialism. The slow walk towards Communism. As the philosopher George Santayana once said " Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
Those who do not remember their past are condemned to repeat their mistakes.
Those who do not read history are doomed to repeat it.
Those who fail to learn from the mistakes of their predecessors are destined to repeat them.
Those who do not know history's mistakes are doomed to repeat them.

Most Americans have never traveled to another country therefore since they only get their news and information from the politically biased news media, they have nothing to compare it to. It’s sad and worrisome. As a kid I visited the Southern border on the Mexican side a few times and although I didn’t really know anything at the time I could see the difference in the quality of life there compared to the U.S. and I felt fortunate to be an American.

Classic socialist class war: kill or suppress the Kulaks and surprise! Chaos. Turns out they were the people *keeping society together.*
The most heartbreaking thing is not the hunger or poverty, but the apparent apathy when describing the death of a near one due to the conditions. It's as if they simply accept their fate, perhaps even think it deserved. This dehumanization was also observed in Soviet times.

My family has a long history with socialism. As a child I went to visit family in eastern Europe to meet the family my grand parents left behind when they fled the Holocaust.
Just as in this video, there were super long lines for little food; there were 4 generations of my family living in a 1000 sq ft apartment.
One day while I was leaving the hotel, a line of limos past us. I asked a person who they were and they told me they were Party memebers on their way to their, "Dachas," or weekend homes. What I saw as a 10 year old was a binary society, there was the rich / powerful and there was the common (poor) person.
Then the same scene was played out the next summer when my Kung Fu instructor took me to China.
When Venezuela went socialist, my family there was quick to leave (having seen the writing on the wall). They got their business out of Venezuela and are now living in Florida and have moved their company here.
My question is, why do people not see this? I am blessed to be a first generation American on my mohter's side and my father was Puerto RIcan but a whole bunch of the family seems socialist, even on my mother's side.
    My grandfather is rolling over

In 2006 I was travelling in Peru and met a fellow solo traveller who had abandoned her travel plans for Venezuela after just hours. She told me how her taxi driver from the Caracas airport drove her to a bad part of town and threatened to leave her there unless she paid $100s of US dollars. Which she agreed to do only if the driver took her back to the airport, where she paid up and then got the hell out of there.
Usually I do not engage with many people in my travels, but I noticed she was extremely distressed at an adjacent table in the restaurant where I was having dinner and I asked her to join me. She was very relieved to speak with someone - anyone - to unload about her ordeal and how scared she had been for her life. I did not and still do not doubt her story as I had been warned about similar extortion scams when I was in Lima - which is an innocent city compared to Caracas ...

Being that the United States is the land of freedom and opportunity, we should provide the people who believe and find nothing wrong with socialism a one way ticket to their preferred socialist country. Since there is nothing wrong, they should see this as an improvement to their current living conditions and feel fortunate to move.

What scares me about this is that people who live in a capitalistic society like America don't realize how good they actually have it. You can get a job, work hard, and move up the ladder to make more money while supporting yourself and your family but the only problem is people aren't willing to put in the effort. Everyone wants everything handed to them for free. That's going to be the downfall of America.

Scandinavian countries don’t have to pay for military protection from others they have the capitalist countries paying that tab. Their tax rate is nearly 70% and suicides are high...

Scandinavian countries keep saying they are not socialists. They are a small population of homogeneous people with screamingly high taxes for broad government services. But their countries are free market with privately owned businesses.

the problem with socialism is the people that say they want it really demonstrate they don't. once one person is in control of something they usually don't share

Please have Mr Horowitz live on a u.s. Indian reservation for 30 days & 30 nights. I think he should be allowed to be made an honorary member then live there for 30 days & nights. A parallel to socialism.

I have family in Venezuela. Items like coffee and toilet paper and many other basic necessities have to be purchased through the black market 3x more than they are originally worth. Not to mention their currency is useless; barely to them. And ISIS are slowly making their way in as well because of how much of a shit show it is. It hurt to hear him say how hungry he was.
