I’ve been using this product for a while and like it. There are a few stability issues but I actually think it’s a pretty good price given the number of things you can do with it. I’m pleased.
In case anyone is struggle to spend the money on a Nordic curl bench as they are not sure they will use it. For $40 I bought a piece of rebar that would fit across my rack and through the holes + PVC to go over the rebar + barbell pad for added comfort. Drilled holes on the end of the rebar to put safety clips on. And use a foam PT pad for my knees. Works great a a beginner DIY Nordic set up for cheap.
Tib bar guy stands behind this bench. I needed a replacement knob and they sent me a new one and threw in a reverse nordic strap for free when they sent the new part. This makes nordics much easier to learn as you can do eccentric and concentrics. I recommend this company as they stood behind the product when I needed help.
I’ve been using this for about 3 months now. All your cons are the exact same complaints I have. The stability can be improved a bit by tightening all the moving parts with a wrench, but that shouldn’t be necessary. I don’t lift super heavy so I’m okay with the lack of sturdiness for now, but will definitely be upgrading in a year or 2. Otherwise it performs Nordics very well, which is the reason I got it.
I love this thing, especially for the price and specifically for nordic progressions. I don’t use it much as a regular bench but it is fine in a pinch for dumbbell work IMO. Mine had some stability issues as well initially but I tightened basically every bolt on the thing and it is pretty solid now with minimal wobble.
A fair review for sure. It may be OK for a first time lifter or ATG initiate. For someone with a dedicated home gym, seems like a lot of space lost and money gone. Nordics on a flat bench with a weight belt wrapped around the ankles & the bench work fine.
I've had my Hoist adjustable bench for 4 years now, I can say that the Nordic curls work well on it when I use the leg extension attachment. It is also heavy as heck, which helps with stability. I used it as my primary flat bench for a while- I would definitely recommend it
Bret Contreras (BC Strength) has a legit updated Hip Thruster 3.0 that converts to a nordic platform along with the hip thrust/Bulg split squat stand. Looks pretty good and def home gym multifunctional.
Hey, I really appreciate your honest review! The cons are things I hadn't considered. I too hope TBG has spent the last year improving their design. I LOVE the concept and versatility!
There is a Tib Bar Guy attachment for nordics, that you can strap to ANY bench. I have it on my Rep AB3000 and it works great., and gives you the ability to do progressive nordics.
I have an older FID Hoist bench with adjustable foam rollers similar to how this bench is built. The bottom pad isn't as wide as this, but I have been able to make it work for Nordics.
Hey Coop! Can you review REPs new BlackWing bench??? Pllleeeaaseee because man…I was about to pull the trigger on AB-4100 and then I see the BlackWing!
I didn’t know this was considered a new movement. I had S&C coaches in the early 2000s in college programming these and some variations. My favorite still is with the physio ball. Heals on the ball, shoulders on the ground. Hit them single leg with the other leg pointed to sky. Posterior feels torched after 10-12 reps per leg.
It’s not a new movement. Bodybuilders were doing this off of seated calf raise machines since the early 80s. KOT popularized it and made it mainstream thanks to social media. Good thing too, because it’s a very overlooked and useful exercise.
Seems like a very solid bench and decent bench, love the video review, just one quick question will we get a video review of the ForceUSA Mybench soon?
A well padded very low box in front of your leg extension machine can also do the job. The box height will depend on the height of the lower leg extension pad. I'm just not sure I need to do Nordic curls..
Just feels like a Flybird that they modified a little. Price point for this I would just get something from Rep instead. Great video as always Coop. Looking forward to the next one!
Thanks for the comment, we definitely took inspiration from the fly bird mainly the fact its able to come basically pre installed and folds up nicely. We are working on adding features, refining the product and lowering the price but can be difficult getting the economies of scale being a small company. Thanks again for the feedback
Hack: You just back your bench up to your rack's upright with a roller pad at the right height. The roller to hold your ankles doesn't need to be attached to the bench itself. Granted you need to have the right height holes for your bench and body as well as a very secure roller pad with little play from stem to end.
I bought one of these for the progressive nordic curl feature. Plus, I get a "good enough" bench with it. With my home gym being ULTRA small, combo equipment is a plus. I've used it for about 3 months now for all types of exercises. The only con I found is the decline bench. Like Coop says, it's too far and also my knees just slide out from underneath the rollers. I have not figured out how to use it for decline yet.
Update - I figured out how to use the decline comfortably. I needed to raise the seat up to match the angle of the back pad's decline. Once I did that, it feels correct.
It's a good option. The problem is the attachment is at the head of the bench which doesn't allow you to scale/progress; taking the incline part completely out.
What do you do with all of the old equipments that you bought and received for reviews? Send them back to the manufacturer, sell them, store them in a warehouse? These equipments takes up a lot of footprint.
Great video as always! Question, when you declined the bench, could you have raised the seat in order to make it a proper decline bench? Also Tib Bar Guy also has a product called "The EZ Nord" that straps on to any bench to do nordic curls. Do you have a review on that product?
I have an Inspire fitness bench that has solid unpadded "rollers" as standard that also works well. Thr seat pad is shaped and is wide enough at the seat-back junction for nordics. Forget the model number.
I have a Northern Lights FID bench, and the decline bench leg holder works perfectly for nordics. And it's much more solid than this bench. Though the seat gap is huge. But I got it cheap on fbook. I imagine most FID benches with the leg pads would work for Nordics
If you sold the fly bird it would be a cheap upgrade to be able to do Nordic curls and use for lat pull downs. If you just want it for Nordics there are cheaper solutions out there. We have a ez Nord attachment that goes on nearly any bench to perform Nordic curls
Almost bought a Rogue Floor Glute until I saw this video. My Rep AB-5100 with Leg attachment on upside down. DO NOT BUY any equipment before you check in on Garage Gym Reviews. If he hasn't reviewed it you either don't need it or you should wait.
I would be happy to pay for something expensive and overbuilt like this but better quality, but it doesn't seem like there's anything that fits the bill. The incline bench aspect is actually a brilliant idea for progressive overload. I'm not sure if strapping the EZ-Nord to another adjustable bench would quite do the trick, something tells me no. For me in my current house I do not have the space for a dedicated nordic bench, so it would need to replace my current bench, but I don't like the wobbliness of this one.
If you have a rack, there's really no need to buy any additional stuff for nordics. A broom handle and a yoga pad will work fine. Buying any compatible adjustable pad that'll fit in the upright's holes will be even better and cheaper than any of these options.
was gonna get this, now I will not, thank you. that decline option not having one more adjustment around 15 degrees is ridiculous. i wanted to train nordic curls and dumbbell presses and dumbbell stuff thought this would be perfect but actually will be better off with a decent bench and figuring out nordics some other way.
LMAO, Went to buy it till i saw it was $240 dollars. You're kidding me. It looks like it shares almost every part identical with the flybird bench with only one minor difference.
Although they look similar we use higher quality components then the fly bird bench to make it an overall better bench from the padding to the knobs used to keep the unit secure. There are a lot of features also like a narrower back pad for a full range of motion, larger knee pad for Nordic curls. Thanks for your feedbavk
Great video but I got to be honest that's not a quality bench and it's definitely not worth the asking. $. I'm interested in a bench like this, but not this one. Looks just like a rebranded flybirds bench.
Thanks for your feedback, although it looks similar to the fly bird the components and features the bench offers make it vastly different from the fly bird. For the $90 extra our bench offers a lot more then the fly bird. Thanks again
Thanks for your feedback, flybird is $90 less expensive but lacks a lot of the features we put into this to make it a more practical bench. Thanks again for your feedback
I'm excited for a V2 of this product . it is very close to what I would want. thank great video.
Thank you, coming very soon!!
@Henry Tokar couple months!
@@thetibbarguy I’m interested in buying your Nordic bench! Is version 2 almost out?
@@thetibbarguy Is it out yet? I'm also interested in a v2! :D

Thank you
Rep needs a bench with the ability to add attachments like this.
Yeah that would be cool. We also have a product called The EZ Nord that is Nordic attachment for any bench!
Handy to know that there are attachments out there.
On my zero gap rep bench, I just flip the decline leg attachment upside down and can do Nordics perfectly fine like that.
@@gordonglam Me too but I imagine it only works for certain people. If my legs were any shorter, I’m not sure it would work.
Bells of Steel has one that allows a leg extension/curl attachment.

Coop, look into the Nordstick. It attaches to a standard home door and allows you to do nordics
Yeah the nord stick is 🔥🔥🔥
nordstick is good but then you need some padding to protect your knees and it just will never be as good as a dedicated machine.
@@apcfitness I agree but getting a foam pad or something similar is cheap compared to buying a dedicated machine.
The Ironmaster Super Bench +Pro with the decline attachment can be used for Nordic curls and lat pulldowns.
Yep I love doing Nordic Curls on mine.

I have a fly bird and bought the EZ nord from tib bar guy. I love it. I still would be interested in V2 mentioned earlier in the comments

I will definitely get this as a 2nd bench. For the price I'm willing to accept some of the cons.
Thanks, we are already working on improvements for the next batches of the bench
My favorite right now is "It Takes Two." Been loving it along with my daughter but my favorite is switching all the time

Iron master could easily make a nordic attachment for the super bench pro, hopefully they will one day soon.

There is also a new attachment called the "EZ Nord" that is meant to be strapped to most regular weight benches to be used in a similar way.

Thanks for commenting this. The EZ Nord is a great options for people with benches already
You can use any bench for a nordic curl. Just use the ratchet strap around your ankles. Or a belt.
Ask a carpet or tile layer about the effects of placing external pressure on the knees.
They should start just selling the attachment then you can throw it on a better bench.
We have a product called the ez nord which is exactly that. It’s a Nordic attachment for any bench!
Agreed that the price point is way too high for what you get.
Working on adding features and bringing the price down. Hard to get economies of scale as a small biz

have you considered putting the mic on your hat?
could just put your ankles under a barbell in your power rack and do this without a special bench
How are you setting the bench to different levels so quickly?!
Feels like The Tib Bar Guy had a bunch of their employees comment on this.

That wobble is a no go for me, watching from the side is not reassuring, I'm a big guy, with a lot of weight, I need equipment that doesn't wobble.
