Am I the only one that's really invested in seeing how his dad's truck will turn out once finished?! Gotta love the old school trucks!
I'm hoping he makes it 100% stock but keeps the old shift knob his dad touched for so many years. However, knowing strad, it's probably going widebody with some bright colored wrap and white wheels.
He should put a 408 stroker motor in it
It’s hilarious that he doesn’t know how a fuel nozzle works
@@drewskiaka3806 nah hes right to be cautious bc even I know they have a mechanism to stop but when i was filling my moms car it didnt work for some reason and overflowed down the side of the car
@@drewskiaka3806 well I know as a kid it overflowed all the time so there's that
The bug looked like a mud dauber, which aren't usually aggressive and would prob be why it didn't go crazy when you were in the cabin. Good job on maintaining composure and looking forward to future truck endeavors!
Thought it looked like a tarantula hawk but i don’t even know if they live in the us 😂
@@emmanuelpaul6903 oohhh no, those things are FAR more terrifying than that lil guy, you would know if it was a tarantula hawk just by the way they act/sound alone, they are also freaking massive
@@emmanuelpaul6903 same i thought it was that too
Thought the dauber had a different thorax
It was in the truck with a celebrity so it was calm. It never attacked him. It just wants to be besties
I want to see a full restoration on that truck more than anything you've done yet. Awesome piece of history.
Thanks man! I can't wait to get started on it
@@TheStradman Hey strad! i figured id let you know that my dad owns the 1970 Chevrolet equivalent of your dad's truck with the same paint color and it's also a single cab except my dads is not the 350 v8 its the 402 v8 from the corvette of the time. the value of these trucks is just rising and rising, please keep this truck stock and just do a restoration. i cant wait to see what holds in the future for your truck, keep it real james!
I’d say a restoration to the exact spec that your dad had. Either that, or keep it as a sentimental asset. If you mod it, and change it too much, it becomes a different vehicle that can’t relate to the memories you had. I’d probably just put it back exactly as it was.
@@holde.nazarian all of them are single cabs
@@TheStradman Have you started on it?
I feel every ounce of fear that james had when that bug came flying out XD
Quite literally the most relatable feeling anyone who has had a car can feel.
But also really stoked to see what he does with his dads truck! Probably one of the most important cars in his garage i would imagine
Not only would your brothers know what you're talking about, the ones who know the childhood startups, with the family memories know what you're talking about Strad. We are all here because we can relate. We are happy to see someone who is lucky enough to relive it again man. Thank you for the content buddy.
We're very excited to see where this air suspension setup goes 😉
Unless y’all make air suspension differently now I’d assume it’s gonna go mostly up or down.
@@bigboredom5800 nah they go side to side now
Don’t worry, I’ll be making it a very clean setup! 🤙🏻
I believe it goes in the suspension
@@sixtytoogood-1452 blud is NOT stradman😭
James being horrified of a dirt dauber is absolutely hilarious😂😂
One of the least aggressive stinging insects in the world lol
If someone doesn't know it's a mud dauber and not a more aggressive type of wasp, his reaction is understandable, but I guess mocking ppl makes you feel better about yourself.
@daexion noting that something was found fairly comical is far from whatever super softness you are referring to. Grow up, join the real world.
@@daexion Please explain how they are mocking James? It was an admittedly funney sequence of events that provided some fun, light hearted humor due to the fact that the insect is basically harmless despite its appearance.
Don't they sting?
Seeing James scared of the bug is every single person in the world. God I was laughing the entire sequence
This truck build will be amazing. My dad used to have a '71 that was blue/white. He had just gotten it fully restored when unfortunately we got into an accident while bringing a load of wood home. That was the last time we rode in that truck. It's been 27 years since that accident, but the memories and smell of that truck remain just as strong today as they did back then. I think it would be awesome to see your whole family pose with the truck once rebuilt. Best of luck with the project!
I’m glad that you’ve got your dads old truck back. I myself have a 1962 Chevy c10 my very first truck and my grandfather has a 1965 c10. And we love our trucks
Love to see an American Classic car on the channel. It is a good change of pace for you! Excited to see where it takes you and the different groups of people it'll open the door to.
Man, the video of you picking up your dad's truck was by far my favorite. My mother bought my first truck for me in 2006 (06 Chevy Single Cab). I've had many other cars since then, but i will never let go of that thing.
The only reason why I know this man isn’t actually going broke with this house and is actually doing everything perfect to his plan is that HES A DAMN ACCOUNTANT he knows what he’s doing
EDIT: thank you guys for all the likes!! 🥳🥳
He built a house during the most expensive time in the last decade…
He was fired from that job. I'd say he wasn't a great accountant
Dude bought a Bug before owning any real estate..
@@BM-ve1uv what color is your Bugatti?
@@grabsme they were laying people off and he was one of the newest employees…
Honestly James, of all the videos you’ve done, and cars you have owned and own, this is by far the best of them all!! I Can only imagine how you feel owning and driving this truck, knowing that your father used to sit right where you are sitting, and must create some wonderful memories for you too! I’m sure you dad is smiling down upon you from heaven!!!! So happy for you brother!!! 🙏🏽 ☺️
Thank you for putting the photo of you and your dad back on the videos. I don't know how to describe it, but it makes you look real. Like a down to earth person. Not just a actor or something.
Last time I was this quick she walked out the room mad at me! 😅

@@JRoge2024 you sure did get the joke for a 9 year old haha 😄
The restoration of your dad’s truck is what I’m here for! Hopefully you can make it look all brand new!
Congrats on finding your dad’s old truck! Definitely the most important vehicle on this channel now, can’t wait to see what the plan is!
I know how you feel my dad passed in the beginning of 2011 before he passed he sold his truck and always wondered if I could locate it I would cry too congrats on finding it . I can tell you loved your dad very much
8:48 James, we all saw your pain when you lost your father. Hell, we could even feel it. You are driving your father's truck. It matters to all of us.
Ok this was a wholesome vlog. And emotionally gripping. But I definitely think you and your brothers or nick should fully restore the truck Together. Definitely your brothers. Family togetherness. Is important
Hey just a heads up I’m not sure if you’re gonna see this, the stop feature on cars is actually the gas pump, when you fill a car up to full the fuel will come all the way up the neck and once the front of the nozzle hits the fuel it cuts the flow🫡. Anyways I’m glad you got your dads truck back. You’re my favorite RUclipsr to date
It didn’t work a couple of times for me and leaked all under my car and on my tires and also the fuel filler and body. When I started the car, I almost blew up, but I didn’t since I’m here typing this today.
LMAO this was my favorite video from you so far James, that was a Wasp in your Dad's old truck and man you are lucky that it didn't decide to bite you when you were driving! Cant wait to see you restore that truck it should be EPIC!!!
I love this story reminds me of my Dad and I with my first car God bless James & his father and of course Mom as well. ❤️
James being petrified of the wasp is just so down to earth for such a larger than life guy
Incredibly wholesome to see the truck being loved again.
I love how strad can video himself going to the DMV and it’s still a hit. Not gonna lie I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it, but it’s funny to me to think that there are a bunch of creators that if they did the same thing they would be canceled.. lol
what
@@de_stroyed he seriously just video taped his trip to the DMV and has already gotten 600k views in a day, you try posting that and see how many views you get

Everytime this man post makes my day always positive
I cannot wait to see more on the truck. I own a 68 c10 and 72 c10 so this is sweet. My 72 was my grandpas truck I grew up in so watching you have the same enjoyment makes me so happy! I can’t wait to see what you do bro!!!
I can't wait to see a full restoration. Good luck and have fun with it all man. It's beautiful.

My day gets so much better when stradman posts a video❤️
So happy you got your dad truck ik how much he meant to you and your family this truck Is a reminder how much your dad sacrificed to give you the life you have now from how you always speak of him I can tell he was a great men he’s in heaven with all my lost ones two just know he’s looking down and could not be more happy to see the millions you bring joy to every time you post a video
Im so looking forward to your dads truck build. It is going to be one of the best experiences ever. That truck holds a very special place in my heart!

Love you’re videos, I’ve been watching the channel most of my life and enjoy every video you’ve made
I would definitely keep that color and keep it as stock as possible. I would just do engine and exhaust and nice wheels.
I'd restore it to 100% showroom stock, wheels and all, but I'd keep the old worn out shift knob that has his dad's fingerprints all over it.
Glad to see you got your dad’s truck back home, excited to see it get some love and you get to enjoy it!
So happy for you to have it back in the family. Looking forward to seeing the love you will put in to it.
Your the goat strad keep doing your thing more success to you my man
You all know the saying “If the Stradman uploads its automatically a good day”
STRAD FIGHTING THE BUG IS WHAT I LIVE FOR
Love the old c10. I’m rebuilding my gpas old 55’ GMC and it’s the most sentimental thing I’ve ever done. Can’t wait to see the progress
Without this truck stradman wouldn’t be able to drive. The truck he learned to drive in. What a beautiful story
What a day. Strad has uploaded and there's no shock that it's another banger of a vid🔥. Love it Strad, keep up the grind. Love the way he fanboying over that Aventador yet my guy owns two

She's back in her home in Canada for a bit but she will be back.
@@ICP1SBJ Okays thanks yo
The truck is probably one of my favorite editions because he always seems so cheerful driving it.
You work on so many popular or new cars, it's refreshing to see you take care of your dad's ride.
That cold start had me dying 😂😂
I know EVs are so stupid 🤦♂️
haha right! I almost fell out of my chair laughing when he said that!
Love your vids bro. Keep it up! 🎉
What happened to the girlfriend.???
The v6 that came with year is near indescribable. They were designed for tractors. My highschool friends dad had one of those. And still does. I graduated in 97 for context.
So glad you got your dads truck that's really cool! Made me cry!!! Best car/truck you own in my opinion!
Your dad's truck might be my favorite vehicle out of any you've ever had on the channel. Love those trucks!
@8:36 the choke should be the knob below the wiper/washer, pull that out when cold starting, then push in when temp starts going up. I have a '68 Chevy C-10, that's where mine is. Get a bottle of Rain-X to use on the windshield, I also use on the back window of my Honda. You crack me up!
I think it’s really sweet you have your Dad’s GMC old truck back and you have the newest GMC Hummer EV, it comes full circle with the history of the brand. Pretty cool
So I have to be honest. Seeing you drive the car that your Dad owned brought a tear to my eyes. I also miss my Dad a ton.
Soo glad you was able to get the truck back. That’s basically a family heirloom now…. Restore it back to factory condition. I think both your dad and grandad would appreciate it.
Seeing the smile on James face getting in that truck is priceless can’t wait to go on this adventure and see what he does with this truck. His dad is smiling for sure.
Means alot Mate its just not your dads car but alot of people out there who would love to buy there dads old car back whatever it might be. respect to you man.
One safety thing to think about is if the truck's gas tank is behind the seat you should absolutely look at a replacement gas tank that would mount under the truck. Why? In an accident if you have a gas tank inside the cab, behind you, and it's ruptures you burn up. Check this out and if that's the case look at how to relocate a gas tank outside of the cab somehow. Some trucks back then had two gas tanks, one inside and one out under the bed. In those cases stop using the inside tank, and even remove it.
no no we love this we love seeing you talk about your dad and we do love to see this truck
U don't seem to have as strong of emotional ties to your cars as you used to, so ur Dads truck is the one that I care about and will keep me coming back. Thanks for all you do for the supercar community James!
I’m so happy to see the c10 content, I have a 1971 c10 that I daily drive and I absolutely love it, I can’t wait james
Fun fact, the automated stop feature when pumping gas, is a mechanism within the actual gas nozzled. From google: "A small pipe called a venturi runs alongside the gas nozzle. When the end of the venturi pipe becomes submerged with the rising gas, it chokes off the air pressure that holds the nozzle handle open and shuts down the gas flow"
I love that you found his truck . I can’t wait to see what you do with it. Today marks 19 years since I lost my dad to cancer still iss him every day. I’m hope one day to find my dad Camaro we sold Shen he got sick. Your dad would be proud to see why you have done over the last two year. Wishing you the best can’t wait to see more in the truck
I totally understand that truck being important, I think it's cool. My dad used to have a 71/72 Camaro and if I could find and buy, it would be very special to me too
This is the primary reason my Hummer EV order has been significantly delayed. Great video btw, James
Anyone else miss the end after “And on that bombshell, todays video, yup, todays video, is over.” And then we’d get the static screen and a lil bonus clip!! I guess I’ll just click out when you say your outro.. not doin the extra clip anymore James?? I always stuck around to see that blooper or bts or cameo, whatever it is that day!
Restore the truck back to original condition. This vehicle is the most important in your entire collection. Think about what he would do and do it properly.Get a top tier reliable engine but make it powerful. Keep original color. Make your dad proud!! Very excited to see outcome. Research who is the best person to do full restore and spare no expense.
One of my dream trucks!! I cannot wait to see this build
Dad's truck is a nice addition. Can't wait to see the finished outcome.
My father had same truck in blue!
I love the truck dude❤
SOOOOO ❤Happy you found this truck , emotional tho , but SOO COOL YOU EVEN FOUND IT!
Respect! Hopefully the restoration comes alive!
The "stop" feature is built into the gas pump handles. Nothing to do with the truck, old or new.
I learned this years ago filling up gas cans at the gas station lol.
They always stop filling as long as the nozzle is in the hole😄
Definitely think you should restore your dad’s truck to its former glory and leave it stock! I feel like it would be way more sentimental to be as is was when you learned to drive in it! Keep up the great work tho!!
Hey James, the first thing I would personally do is a deep clean of the car after the fumigation. The car interior looks like it could use some TLC. Clayton would probably do it.
What I love about the hummer ev is how the bottom looks, normally with trucks you can see all the suspension where as with the hummer ev it just shows the back and front for the wheels where as everything else has a cover over it.
LOL James, if Sophia was there she would protect you from the bug.
Cant wait to see what you do with the truck. Its got so much potential, lm loving it.
Glad you got your dads truck man. That’s awesome!
Strad your so lucky to have your dads truck , luckily we have my dads ol truck . Give it the best of care . I say go custom but oem can be extremely cool too. Good luck and enjoy the build ,Maybe it will be like our dads never left .
It’s very nice move from james to bring a sentimental value for the family what a nice son god bless his dad and his family plus of course James and keep his dad memories alive 🙏🏼👍🏼😊
RIP Papa Strad James is out here doing you and 4 million others proud
I drive a 72 Chevy pickup. When I fill up the truck it does have the pressure stopping mechanism. Yours should too. The tank should be 19.5 or 20 gal. Also sometimes if helps to hold the gas pedal a hair down when turning the key to start the truck since it’s carbureted
Genuinely you’re my favorite RUclips channel to watch you keep me the most engaged and entertaining love it man, keep it up
Can't wait to see wat you do to the truck hope you keep it somewhat factory
you got me there on the cold start-up on the Humer EV... EV!!
Spend you about $100,000 restore that truck and never let it out of your sight that thing is amazing I'm glad you got it back
Please keep your dad's truck vlogs going. It is one of the most special vehicles you have!
Wow @Stradman! That truck Is a real american peace of art! Just like you and Sophia! 😁 I have followed your RUclips journey since the beginning! Huge fan! Greetings from Norway!
James if you never watched the movie "Evolution" then it's a really good time to watch it after the bug incident. Especially where the bug gets under the guy's skin and afterwards where they asked him if he needs something and he said " I want a Ice-cream"... But I don't want to tell you the whole storyline because you have to watch it to appreciate it
Your dad is so proud of you from up above.
I really love old trucks, and that one is so clean. I think you should fully restore it, but keep it classic. Also the paint, keep it old style. Give it a fresh new paint but old style. And for the motor that’s you man you can do whatever but please keep it classic!!
Love this video and am going to love this series. Keep doing the things that make you happy bro
I understand the feeling. I built my late fathers car into a show/camera car and drive it daily. Hit my heart string a bit there as there's a lot of emotion driving that car every day. All power to you brother.
I still can't believe you found it in friggin Baldwinville - ten minutes from me - this is the middle of nothing (for MA), yet here you were!
Honestly more excited to see you rebuild your dad’s truck than I have been about the various Lamborghinis. LS3 engine, new wood in the bed, new interior, new wheels and tires, painted in a 70’s shade of brown or light blue…
James, just so you know, I’m a 60 year old guy, but I love your channel. Keep it coming!
Btw, not sure what “selected” means, but I appreciate it!
Great video as always James! Just a piece of advise that I'm sure other people have already given but because it is a classic small block chevy and is obviously carbureted, the fuel pump is mechanically driven off of the cam shaft meaning unless the engine is cranking, no fuel is getting to the carburetor. Also because of the carburetor, it's a good idea to pump the gas a few times before turning the key, and holding down the gas pedal while cranking before it starts. Hope this helps👍🏼
