  • After being stuck in Roswell for a couple of days due to Tobi's broken bottom bracket and an incoming snowstorm, we headed into the Rocky Mountains, up to over 2,000 m.a.s.l.!
    We were accompanied by David ( / i.are.david ), a fellow bike traveler whom we met while waiting out the storm.
    Our journey through New Mexico finally brought us back into the mountains, for the first time since cycling in Europe, and surprised us with amazing landscapes and sceneries... and we even got the cycle a bit of the Continental Divide Trail!
    We also found a great accommodation in Pie Town, and were able to sleep in a few churches along the way.

    It's cool to see the Toaster House which also shows up in lots of CDT truhike vlogs. I actually started watching those first and then switched to cycle touring vlogs.

    R U KIdding? The Toaster House? Incredible. I am from New Hampshire, We have the Appalachian Trail running along and up through out "White Mountains." So we have the "AMC" which is the Appalachian Mountain Club with "Huts" etc. for hikers from anywhere. Not so much bicyclers. But ~ reservations and pricy $$$ now. So many people in the mountains. Not a bad thing really but ~ not like it used to be. And then "Pie Town" with the "Toaster House" on the Continental Divide. They are probably swamped now (after seeing this) but I'll bet they can handle the business. I'd start a MMMM "Frying Pan House" ~. Yea. Just hang Frying pans all around ~ "Pick one and make your breakfast." Yea, I think so. I think that would work. Then I'd hang out with those sweet people at the Toaster House on "off" days. Sure. What a life! ✨🌸🙏🌸✨But wait there is more. Another thought is to start a "Toaster House" here in New Hampshire. Yea, now that's an idea too. Just compete with the AMC. Sure. What a life~. ✨🌸🥹🌸✨🇺🇸

      The Toaster House really was great! Unfortunately we found out a few months ago that Nita who owned it passed away, and the people we heard it from weren't sure what would now come of it. We were really sad to hear that as she was a really great person and the Toaster House such a nice place.

    There's some parts just outside of Roswell - I think that was part of my spouse's commute, on the Gallo! How cool to see it from the cycling perspective. We used to live in Corona, NM - near to where the UFO crash was collected before it was shipped to the airbase in Roswell. Thanks for sharing the video of your tour!

    Would be interesting to see the new parts on the bottom bracket! Replacing Deore LX by Altus I would call more likely a downgrade ^^
    Was it the original bracket that broke down or did you replaced it yet once?

    • @louisaandtobi
      @louisaandtobi  2 года назад

      The bottom bracket that broke was a UN300 and the new one now is also a 300. It’s what they had available. The Altus Crankset has better suited gearing than the LX had, so for me it’s an upgrade. 😉 And quality wise it’s probably the same.
