    Thank you for another great video! Some people say that it usually takes about 3 months to attract more customers after implementing good SEO. Of course, this timeframe may vary depending on what you are selling, the level of competition, and other factors. Do you have any insights on how long it typically takes for SEO efforts to yield broader results?

    • @EtsyMentor
      @EtsyMentor  4 месяца назад +2

      Forget about the 60-90 day timeline. That's often used by people who aren't sure what they're doing. If you choose the right keywords for your target audience, you can improve your rankings much faster (1-3 weeks). Just remember, how well you convert visitors into customers (conversion rate) is also a major factor in getting to the top of the search results.

    Hi George, I just found your channel and love it so far! I've only been on Etsy for about 5 months but I did just about $10k USD last month, so I feel I'm doing something right. I just wanted to ask what your opinion is on shipping. Do you charge it/did you find a difference with free shipping vs charging something for it. I have it as free right now but keep debating changing it to be able to lower my product prices to look more competitive. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Also, I'm SO interested in your ads strategy (not sure if you've already done videos on this, but I'd love to learn more from you on this topic). Thank you so much for offering different content than others. It feels much more genuine!

    Hi George, I am a relatively new shop since September 2023 in the digital product space and normally get around 100-200 views a day. I applied your seo strategy on my latest listing and overnight I wake up to 500 views, have I done something right? I completely changed the way I did my tags, I would say I was the capybara example you mentioned, I genuinely thought you had to put whatever primary keyword was as many times as possible or atleast similar to it with some variation! However with the new way I did my tags, I am honestly shocked my views have increased so much, however does this mean that I am actually being seen by the right people? This is only one listing so as I change my seo strategy to how you suggest I am eager to see if the extra views correlate to an increase in sales. Would love your input. Thank you so much, you really have helped me narrow my understanding on how to niche down, and what exactly works on etsy. You would not believe how many youtube hours I have consumed only to be told not much different and just feeling like I am getting absolutely nowwhere.

    George the Animal! Just found your channel the other week and thank you for giving us so much GOOD information. Have a question about the second shop you showed I hope you can answer. Some of their tags don't make sense, is that ok? Will Etsy pull the keywords someone typed in from different tags as long as they are relevant?

    • @user-eg9nw9tn6s
      @user-eg9nw9tn6s 2 месяца назад +1

      Here an Example of what I'm trying to say. If a customer searched for "Silly Capybara t shirt for ladies" would the algorithm pull what it can from the tags provided?
      capybara t shirt
      cool capybara shirts
      cowboy mouse shirt
      funny capybara shirt
      funny shirts for
      mens womens ladies
      rat rodent shirts
      rodent t shirts
      silly shirts for

    • @EtsyMentor
      @EtsyMentor  2 месяца назад

      Correct, the tags don't have to make sense. Etsy does the hard work by extracting each words. They pull these keywords from both the title and the tags. So, using different keywords in the tags than in the title is beneficial because it gives you more opportunities to be recognized in searches.
      Thank you for subscribing by the way. I really appreciate it!

  • @wendyon4517

    My SEO style is more like the first. My titles may say something Capybara shirt for Capybara lover gift ... and use up all the characters. So i get capybara shirt, shirt for capybara lover, capybara lover gift.
    I'll definitely try the second method as well and see how it works for me. Its a really interesting way to keyword tag.

    • @EtsyMentor
      @EtsyMentor  4 месяца назад +1

      Definitely try both options. Conduct an A/B test with two similar items to see which one performs better overall. This is the approach I use for all my items. You should be able to see the differences within 30 days.

    Hello Georges, I just discovered you, I tried to open an Etsy store and I understand better why it didn't work. I am located in France, does writing keywords in a language other than the US have a huge influence on product positioning?
    Do you use software other than ever bee?
    if you are looking for a video idea maybe you could do a comparison of different boutique analysis software =)
    Thank you for your time and work.

    • @EtsyMentor
      @EtsyMentor  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes, it's important to write tags and listings in English because over 55% of Etsy's purchases are made by U.S. consumers, and you want to make sure they can see and understand your listings.
      When doing R&D I use several programs, but for quick insights into Etsy, I prefer using EverBee because it's fast and reliable. It gives me the initial details I need before I dive deeper into research.
      I definitely plan to release a video comparing the different programs. I'm just trying to figure out a way to do this so it doesn’t take an hour lol.

    Another interesting video. So let me see if I understand this. Let’s say I have the following product which I can break down as follows:
    - product: “print/wall art/painting”
    - first descriptors: “antique/vintage/old/classic/historical”
    - second descriptor: “landscape”
    - product type: “digital download/printable”
    - usage: “for living room/bathroom/dining room”
    … that we should breakup these terms into the following tags:
    antique,
    vintage,
    wall art,
    print,
    painting,
    landscape,
    digital download,
    printable,
    for living room,
    for dining room,
    etc
    … and let Etsy do the heavy lifting in terms of putting them together to create the long tail keywords to match what people are searching for?

    • @EtsyMentor
      @EtsyMentor  4 месяца назад +1

      Using those keywords might not match what people are actually searching for, so I wouldn't recommend that approach. However, if those were indeed the keywords people tend to search for, then yes, that method could work. The first company used this strategy. The second company, on the other hand, adopted a different method by incorporating multiple keywords like 'mens', 'womens', and 'ladies' into a single tag for each product.

    Did I understand it correct and Etsy SEO picks the relevant keywords from my title and tags? For example I have tags like: Birthday present, man woman, funny gift for. And now anyone search for Birthday gift for woman, would I pop up because I used these words?

    • @EtsyMentor
      @EtsyMentor  3 месяца назад

      That's correct. That’s how their SEO works and how people find your products when searching.
      Now, their ranking system is different. Your placement (page wise) is determined by your conversion rate and recent sales. Essentially, the more sales you achieve in a short period, the higher you will rank. So both are important to be pushed to the first page.

    • @patrick3122
      @patrick3122 3 месяца назад +1

      @@EtsyMentor thank you for your quick response! So I don't need to focus on the Everbee score how good my tags are, just put in possible words anyone searches for?

    • @EtsyMentor
      @EtsyMentor  3 месяца назад +1

      The score isn't important. While it might be somewhat helpful, it's not the main factor in gaining visibility or recognition on Etsy. Instead, concentrate on understanding how your target audience and consumers search for products, rather than focusing solely on the score or competition level of a keyword.

    George, you're a real one. Too much BS on here, usually trying to sell a course. I have an Etsy store which has just turned 2 years old, with just over 3K sales. My issue is the lack of consistency, and the low volume. On a good day I may have 10 sales, other days, 1 if lucky. I have many repeat customers, which is great, but am struggling to take it to the next level. Will have a total revamp of my SEO, but I'm thinking photos are a big part of my issue too. As it's POD, it's usually mock models. Any tips regarding photos for POD stores?

    Is repeating keywords necessary for etsy? I always thought of tags as one long keyword so they don’t have to be in any particular order or make sense as one tag. For instance “rodent mouse rat” could be a tag even though no one would ever search for that specific phrase.

    • @EtsyMentor
      @EtsyMentor  4 месяца назад

      It is not necessary at all. Etsy combines keywords in unique ways, which is why those two shops are making incredible revenue. Despite using different strategies for their tags and keywords, both achieve similar results by understanding Etsy's SEO workings. You're on the right track with your thinking!

    What about key word title formulas

    • @EtsyMentor
      @EtsyMentor  4 месяца назад

      Etsy uses keywords from both the title and tags for its searches. This explains why the first company includes three different variations of "shirt" in the title and then three other variations in the tags.

      Example 1 shows a good way to structure your keywords. There are a few things I would tweak, but overall, it will perform better and boost your SEO more effectively than Example 2. Also remember, if you're using the word "shirt," try to include it in various forms, just like the first company did. This strategy helps cover different ways people might search for the word "shirt." The same approach applies to any keyword that could be spelled differently, such as "backpack," "back pack," "book bag," and "bookbag."

      You won't find alternative spelling for every word. However, you can add terms like "Graphics" or "Image" to expand your keywords. If relevant, you could also include file types like "JPG" or "JPEG," especially if you sell those.
