Never heard about Nate until Oprah. He didn't say NO he offered a great suggestion. That's what comes with maturity. Unless you're in the military, you don't get asked to Jump and repeat how high as an independent adult. You negotiate.
Tam , if you listened in the very beginning he said that he got a call from Harpos requesting that he round up professional workers ( plumbers, etc.) and be somewhere the very next day and he said that he would have to call them back. After ten minutes her called her back and said “no” to bringing his own crew and that they would have to hire crews that are local to the area. I think that is what was referred to in the Title.
@@patriciahulett4411 This IS click bait. We all listened and in the very beginning and I agree with Tam, he didn't say no but negotiated a more feasible solution which is what any professional would do in his situation. The title suggests that he may have had some sort of clash with Oprah and he turned her down flat. That is not the case here and in fact this story actually brings to light how their professional relationships came to be. He actually said yes to Oprah. Still click bait especially because here we are still debating something that happened a couple of decades ago.
This young man shows depth of character......so refreshing to listen to him. In recent months, I had one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life when I attended a Paul Anka concert. It was absolutely amazing to listen to his stories. Unbelievably talented but so kind and down to earth like Nate. Never knew that it was Paul Anka who wrote "I did it my way" for Frank Sinatra. Seems he wrote many songs for great artists. Absolutely amazing to watch and listen to this so gifted man perform on stage at 80 years of age. For some reason I see similarities between he and Nate - kind and real and true to himself. So gifted with talents and hard work, of course. I
I remember the first time Nate was on Oprah, it was fun, exciting and he seemed so shy. It's been pure joy watching him grow, evolve, create and build his brand.
Yes! And, he just comes across as such a nice, well grounded, guy. He’s «whole wood», as we say in Norway. His empathy towards others and his warmth, shines through. I’m so glad he has such a wonderful life now, with his hubby and two beautiful children, esp. since he has been through so much pain and grief over losing his previous partner in the tsunami in Asia... 😊
Was so sad for him when his partner died in the Tsunami. But so happy for how he has overcome that heartache and built such a beautiful life for his family ♡
Nate Berkus, you're one of the best designers that I've happened upon. I love your design shows with Jeremiah&we get to see the children as well. Your work is wonderful &doable even for beginners; like me. Continue bringing joy &beauty to those who need it. Stay well&God's blessings always.🤓👍👏💖🤗✌

I stopped watching Oprah years ago when she belittled a gentleman on her show who said he couldn't afford something on her Christmas wish list. Who does that??? Brain tumor patient who makes 814 a month....living in housing that I struggle just to keep clean!
Oprah's Christmas list is annoying for me. I am basically at the lower middle class level and I can't afford most things on her list. Oprah forgets how it was to be just getting by.
@@mojamurphy4905 she turned me off too with that list one year when she suggested we all buy $200 slippers for all our girlfriends. Huh? I do ok but my friends don’t give that level of gift and frankly I would never spend that on slippers. She had lost touch.
Basically he did say "No". In the industry, there's always the chance that they'll drop you if you can't meet their demand, so that was really a brave decision young Nate had to make.
Love Nate. What he is saying is sensible in any business interaction. He’s a gem personally. I know we only see a “snapshot” of him on television but I like to believe he’s genuine in what he’s saying- he gets emotional on camera often enough too. Just seems so heartfelt.
Oprah is the one who oppened the BIG DOOR for Nate , for Dr Oz , Rachel Ray and others. Yes Nate is talented, and Iam one of his fans, but alot of people didn't know who he was until he appeared on the Oprah show . His appearance on the show leaded him to bigger things etc.
