  • On October 6, 2020 we left the Valley Floor of Yosemite to hike Half Dome. We took the John Muir Trail (JMT) to Little Yosemite Valley where we camped for the night. Before this trip I was looking for some info on LYV and couldn't find much. I figured this would be helpful to the next person camping there!

This is the best attitude. "I couldn't find this resource when I looked for it, so I made it for other people." Great video, so helpful for planning.

Indeed this was helpful. Since childhood I've camped down in Yosemite Valley dozens of times and hiked up to the top of Nevada Falls many times. I've only hiked Half Dome once several years ago and want to do it again. But this time I want to spend the night in Little Yosemite Valley instead of doing the day hike death march, lol. I remember walking past the LYV campground coming and going, but I never did see the actual campsites area, nor did I even see any tents pitched, so I wasn't 100% sure where the sites were. I do remember seeing the restroom though, so your walk thru, then showing the restroom helped me orient to where the campsites are. Great video, thanks.

So happy it's helpful. I hiked Vernal and Nevada falls as a kid. When I did Half Dome the first time I walked by LYV campground. Once it was in my mind I knew I needed to camp there. The 18 mile day for Half Dome is doable but difficult. Breaking it up by staying here is amazing!

I was there two weeks ago and they checked my permit. Of the four times I’ve been I’ve had my permit checked twice. They said this year they are checking more because of the snowfall
