I wouldn't be surprised if a company started the white sneaker trend. White shoes get dirty easier and it's hard to clean, meaning you'd probably buy a new pair from them sooner. But that's just a theory, a micro-theory
Fashion is cyclical. And white shoes were big in the late 90's and early 2000's. Which I found annoying as a young kid since everyone complained if you splashed mud, and in the area by the buses, so you almost had to walk through some mud sometimes since there wasn't that much standing or walking space.
When you say "bleach", do you also include oxygen based bleach (hydrogen peroxide)? Because if you do, cold water mixed with salt on fresh blood does the trick really well.
Funny enough, the answer is powdered meat tenderizer. Do do an initial rinse, then sprinkle on the powdered meat tenderizer and leave it be for 30 minutes before throwing it in the wash. The same enzyme that breaks down meat will break down blood.
@@heylittlelaceyIt's the alcohol that does the trick (not too sure why, something about the ink in permanent marker designed to dissolve in alcohol?). So isopropyl alcohol will also do the job.
Now I want to think of some way to get Amy onto food theory. After Santi's trip of course. But maybe we can do a which is more effective in the kitchen between a chefs jacket or an apron. Or how the design and style of your kitchen could affect how you cook in it.
For blood, rinse with cold saltwater before the blood has a chance to dry. The primary thing in blood that stains is the hemoglobin protein complex, so the key is preventing the protein from coagulating (thus using cold water before it dries) and displacing the iron ions (hence the salt). If it’s dried, a cold wash with bleach, or better yet a sodium percarbonate stain remover like OxiClean or Clorox 2 seems to be the most reliable option.
Cold water soak, baking soda paste, or a combo of the two. If you need a super quick solution, dab hydrogen peroxide on the spot. I used to leak a lot at night and have had to clean my fair share of blood-stained underwear and pj bottoms.

We love that Santi is becoming a series regular on Amy's show. A few possibilities come to mind: Sneakers are harder to clean because of the extra stitching so, If it works on the sneaker, it’ll work better on the boots. Do Vans come in all white?? (Legit question as I’ve never seen an all white pair) Maybe she was worried about defacing a perfectly serviceable pair of Vans or Docs with ineffective cleaning methods? Maybe the shoes were provided by a store, or at a discount? Docs and Vans aren’t exactly cheap.
I definitely thought theyd be vans/converse for canvas but i'm sure it was a price thing as well as for the general population. Keds start at half the price of Vans and often go on discounts, and they're a more general anyone sneaker(and the only sneaker some offices allow you to wear). I'm sure these hacks would work like they did on these but slightly better since they're more high quality.
19:40 If the wet toilet paper kept it all fresh, does that mean it would be easier to remove now? I know that many things are easier to remove by adding more of the same thing to it, or by adding other cleaning applications to something that's fresh, so I'd be interested in finding out if those mummy shoes would clean up a lot better with the other methods used in the video so far, or if it would yield no better or worse results.

How can this be scientific if you simply ignore the fact that different types of stains dissolve in different types of solvents? Come on, no alcohol for the permanent marker? No oils? We use white rocks cleaning paste for white sneakers (not canvas) and it works great
I feel moderately confident in saying one of (if not the) best methods of cleaning any and/or all of them is something of a mix of all of the above. Step 1: DRY BRUSH!!! Remove as much dirt, grime, etc. as you can BEFORE USING WATER!!! Paper towel for oily grease, a dry soft-bristled brush for the loose dirt and sand. Step 2: Wet Clean. Now we use our water-based variants. A small amount of micellar water and magic eraser to get all the big messes. Toothbrush for the bigger ones. Step 3: Stain Removal. This is where the peroxide, toothpaste, and baking soda come into play. Mostly peroxide and baking soda, but with a little toothpaste just to make some bubbles. Work that in there and let it SIT!!! Do NOT remove the paste immediately, but let it sit for several minutes. After 5-10 minutes, magic eraser for big surfaces, and toothbrush for small ones. That won't work perfectly, but I think it would do a better job than any of the other options (Minus the power washer, lol!)

Leather sneakers - least likely to damage, doesn't get as dirty, easy to clean. Canvas sneakers - easily damaged, gets dirty, very hard to clean. Absorbent (so may need a protective wax or other type of sealant for preventative measure). Softer fabrics and stitching grooves for all are tricky to clean. Pressure wash, soap, peroxide best for fabric (don't know about combination ratios). Whitening toothpaste best for rubber soles.

Kinda wish there was a control for this one. Would be nice to see how regular methods of cleaning do on each type.
I wear canvas shoes and although not they are not white, they are difficult to clean but i have found that just putting it in my washer makes it pretty clean. You dont need a power washer just a clothing washer
