I don't get it why people dislike a video. 15 years ago there were not even a single video about modeling techniques and we would stay in front of the pc for hours to fix meshes and wonder what's the easy way to do things. Yet nowadays people will find it easier to just go on RUclips and search(power of technology).
Give this guy some props for taking his time in making a video for extreme beginners. I had trouble with polymodeling like everyone else. If there are easier methods into doing what he has done, why not make a video, put on RUclips and be done with it rather then disliking a video because is not for your liking. I wish I could had these kind of videos when I started.
The way i see it there will always be people who will like and dislike a video. I would never want to be in a position where people would simply not dislike a video. What i would love those is for anyone that would dislike a video to leave a comment saying as to why they didn't like it so hopefully next time i make a video i can make it even better so they will like that one.
Cheers to you though for taking me back 10-12 years back when i was starting out and when there was nothing to go on and learn but your own curiosity :)
@@DenisKeman I think those dislikes are just from jealous people and others who hit the button by mistake !
@@wilismatrix9847 probably blender evangelists :P
la opción ya no esta activa. max ;)
Great stuff there. Two tips for you and other people, dont know if it has been said in comments :
- Function "set flow" (can be a keyboard shortcut) will move your edges or vertices in the "flow" of your model. It's hard to explain in english as it's not my mother language, but can be very usefull to smooth your object.
- 10:56 : At multiple occasions in this video you could have used the function "Select similar" in the graphite modeling toolbar (can be set as a shortcut too). In this case you pick the two vertices and do "select similar", it would have selected the 3x2 other vertices. Then "collapse" (also as a shortcut on my setup). Basically i would have selected the two vertices then alt+S (my select similar shortcut) and ctrl+D (my collapse shortcut). Done.
Thankyou sir for making this video i was really struggling with topology and in my class i was so confused with no clue about topology and as a beginner this is the best video i saw on RUclips about this topic 💯
Cheers buddy, you just made my day as people like you were why i initially started the RUclips channel :)
Instead of directly extruding inward just do an inset then extrude, you will get good result
There is a much much easier and efficient way of doing this. After extruding the regularised loop, go back to edge select > it will retain the circular edge selection > press extrude > reset the height to 0 and adjust the width to get your desired edge width. Now you just gave to collapse the verts that are on the corners that have small triangles and you get a perfect edge that will work with sub-D. =).
Nice man thanks alot for such an important tutorial
Great video. I am trying to do something similar on a cylinder shaped object. Got any tips on how to control the geometry on a cylinder after doing the Regularize and extrude bits.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I am learning the logic of modelling through you 😊
Thank you for this quick and useful tutorial!
when you apply the script Regularize you need to make an insert to the polygons that's all
Why you don't using insert from the beginning?
Idea was to help people who are starting out and running into this issue. I actually had a few people asking me different questions about different models that boil down to this issue. So that's why i made this short video to hopefully help them understand how not to run into this problem in the future.
this video has been of great help to me, God bless you Sir
Excellent teacher you are! Thank you
this was so useful for me,thank you
Hello ! Thank you for you lessons ! is regularise a plugin or does 3dsmax has it?
Its a plugin and its actually pretty easy to find it just do a simple google search for it. Loop Regularizer for 3ds max
@DenisKeman thank you ! You are an amazing teacher and a true inspiration for 3D artists !
I think this manual method is a bit outdated now, as in newest versions of Max(or with Marius Silaghi plugin in older versions) you can just use quad chamfer on those edges and it works perfectly geometry wise. But for me most annoying thing about adding details on curved surfaces is that it messes up UV's. Fixing geometry is not a big deal, but if you need to apply repetitive texture to it (like a checker), here comes the pain... As turbosmooth will make it wobbly and ugly around that inserted detail in 90% of cases. And unwrapping smoothed (HP) models in Max is a nightmare.
I do agree that with newer versions you get an easier workflow, and even with the quad chamfer fixing most of the issues but people still show me models with these simple issues and then wonder how to fix the pinching issues they get. So i decided to make one short video instead of having to explain this multiple times to multiple people :)
As for UV's, that's a given that whenever you play around with the geometry you will have to do a proper unwrap. And doing UV's in Max is not hard, it's just unadvisable if you like your sanity. That's why i usually take the Unfold3D way, or the RizonUV as it's now called.
That's a just cause, sir :) And true... Max's UVeditor can drive nuts even most stable mind) I used to work with UVLayout for years, but few months ago switched to Rizom too. Kinda awesome software. Only sad thing with it is that you have to collapse stack before exporting model there. And in case of this sphere... making 2 UV sets, one for LowPoly, and 2nd for HighPoly would be annoying too (to make texture look similar on smoothed/unsmoothed model).
Very understandable tutorials
Thanks for this video... I learned a lot and I'm applying it on my project.
Great tutorial
thank you so much for the clear instructions!
wooww dude.this could save everyone some time.Great vid
How to add regularise in right click
it does it automatically once you install the script, it only works if you are in edit poly edge mode however it wont show if you are using edit poly in modifier stack.
this was so useful for me,thank you sir.
Thanks for this useful tutorial...
Awesome! Thank you so much.
Very helpful video
Thanks for the tips! Thumbs up!
Thank you !
Thank you very much 🌷
You rock men !
What is the connect shortcut you are using?
I have a custom button setup for the connect option
@@DenisKeman Thx, I already found the predefined complicated one. ;)
for me sometimes i use chanfer + swift loop ctl+shift
awsome job, thank you.
Very usefull. Thank you
Nice tutorial, its helpful. :D
Hi, thanks for the helpful video. Where can I download that script?
Just google the Loop Regulirizer script and you'll find it
awesome. thanks
Thanks A Lot To You For This.
nice very useful tips thank u so much
Nice
U great man
Hi Dennis. maybe some video with animations and effects? It would be great to see this on your channel. :)
I can’t even find the “edit poly” button 😭 can someone tell me how to find it pls?
hi for this case before extruding i do always inset
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks
hmm this method isn't that good, Why not just use chamfer or bevel depend on the software that people use? just select the edge of the circle and chamfer it, why all this complication when u can do it in 3 sec? by doing what u did, u destroyed the edges flow around the new circle. and u introduced another artifact on the rendering.
Thank you sir. I would like to see more of your videos!
regularize ???? dont exist
This Tutorial is a "Must See"
this is the easiest thing to do with an extruded edges
you did all that to use less iterations, then you ended up using 3, which is wayyy too much
switch to blender, honestly i have been using 3ds max for more than a decade, now tried blender 2.8 , its way better then 3ds max.
Finally know. Lol
