Buying machinery to stop taxes is not a good idea in the long run IMHO. Bad times come as they are now, and you still have to pay for it when losing money in your operation. Many farms will succumb to this if next year and the year after isn't any better. Deere and company need a wakeup call. I heard the farm progress sale netted 60% of book value. I had hoped this You Tube would have revealed this, but my bet is they don't want you to know how bad it was.
Not necessarily bad. If a farm has all other expenses paid, why give a huge sum to Uncle Sam?? If there is a reasonable trade to be made, keep the value on your farm.
@@kansaskristi Of course when it is necessary for replacement. I was referring to crossing the line racking up the debt load, so a market downturn is a big deal. Moderation is the key.
Right to repair the equipment you own should never have been negotiable. To hell with Deere.
