Hi JD! You are being called out and reported to RUclips by another creator called The Appalachian Channel for being an imposter and impersonating their channel. Just thought you should know.
@@MadameButterfly1 I just saw that, and what an outright lie and slanderous attack. I posted on that video, and he quickly deleted my comment. I can't believe he posted something like that, totally shows what type of person he is. I made a copy of his video, because when he deletes it I have a permanent copy.

You load 16 tons and what do you get ,another day older and deeper in debt. For me this story has come full circle. In my youth as a contractor for Fleetwood Homes in the 80s and 90s I traveled all over TN ,KY ,SC, NC VA,AL and Georgia and would see these signs where ever I went. I often wondered what organization was putting these signs all over the place ,now I know. One man whom God saved his life and from the tules of a pit. Harrison Mayes. Thank you Mr . Mayes for reminding us all to stay on the straight and narrow. You were right JD, I think this is my favorite too. 💯👍🏻👍🏻
I knew him personally I’m 74 now he helped my father build houses my father helped him put up his signs he scared me witnessing to me personally I’m saved in 1961 !
I remember my great great grandpa talking about the mines and how much those men gave up to those mountains just to feed and house their families . My grandpa lived to be 99 years old and up till he was 97 he worked his gardens and took care of his dogs !!! He was one of my childhood heroes ,lord how I miss him and wish I could have spent more time with him !!! Thank you J.D for bringing these stories to us and keeping a part of those miners alive ❤
There isn't a single foolmason that is "good". Sadly he has their mark on his tomb stone so judging by that he was an outright reprobate concerning the faith. I'm not being mean, truth hurts, most my kin are weeping and gnashing their teeth with him. I have several video studies as to why a person that is in the masonic order cannot be a born again Christian. Matthew 5/James 5 we find swearing to be forbidden, well I also can't swear to protect my brother by laying for him when he is in the wrong, masons swear to defend their occult cult brother regardless if he is in the right or wrong at any cost. Honesty is a fruit masons possess not, they are sworn liars, swear to lie and conceal the doings of their cult even. No friend, Harrison hated you and everyone else in his life and loved no one.
@@Rileyed Praying for you and yours, yeah I cut off my blood kin and don't have anymore communication with them, way more peaceful that way, God doesn't command people to forebear with Biblical reprobate but to avoid them. Matthew 5/James 5 BUT ABOVE ALL ELSE James said, SWEAR NOT AT ALL, how hard is that to see? You cannot make a lost person see nothing, if they reject the Holy Ghost there is nothing you can ever do to open their eyes.
Only God could have led you to this story. You'll never see the plentiful fruit from the trees of your planted seeds. But, one day you when you get to Heaven ? God's gonna roll back the curtain, and you're gonna see what looks like our great beloved Appalchian mountains, but instead, it will be all the fruit trees that seeds of God's messages that you planted in the souls and lives of His Children. God bless you and I can't thank you enough for your videos that brought me through the darkest times of my life. Love you much brother ❤️
His dad literally had to dig out of debt. "16 Tons" keeps circling my brain. So sad how he was forced to stop school and work those dangerous mines. Such a terrifying accident and an amazing recovery and testimony.
Doing an endless standing ovation 💜 Amen ! He's a God warrior and that you can take to Jesus ! His channel has soothed my soul so many many times while I'm in this firey trial. Only a warrior that's anointed can do that.
I come from a long line of believers. My Appalachian ancestors arrived in 1735 from Prussia and were dedicated Lutherans. My immediate family are proud Baptists. If you haven't been to a tent revival, you are missing out. I love the simple faith of these hard working mountain folks. They love Jesus and aren't ashamed of it. Another great story. Thank you!
I am a pastor in East Tennessee. I have one of his signs on the outside wall of our church. When I was a kid it stood in the side yard of the church where it could be seen from the road. Then it was moved to my uncles along side hwy 25W where it became a fixture there. It was taken down when my uncle moved and went away for several years. Recently I found out one of my cousins still had the old sign. I got it from him, had it restored, and now it is back home on the wall facing hwy116 preaching it’s message loud and clear once again.
What a wonderful testimony. Everyone needs a purpose, being a Witness for christ has no age requirement , you only have to know Christ as savior and be committed to HIS ministry. He's not interested in our qualifications but in our availability. He's no respecter of person, so that means all of us can be a witness. Thanks for sharing this precious story, we his believers are precious in his sight.
Thank you so much, throughout the entire process of researching, writing and producing this video, I developed a huge respect for Mr. Mayes. I did my best to do justice to his story.
What an incredible inspiration, we definitely need more people spreading the word of God. I truly believe that’s what is wrong with this world today. Thanks JD and have a blessed weekend!
Oh my! He’s a bit like John Chapman aka Johnny Appleseed. Walkin’ everywhere, planting seeds. Blessing everyone, whether they understood that blessing or not. What a sweet story. Thank you .
He ask how he could sever, and God gave him a black pig and a bucket of white paint, a box of empty bottles, and he spread God's love around the world. Then God's guiding hand gave you this story, and the two of you are still sending out The Lord's message. Thank you for accepting His call. God bless.❤
Dad and I just listened to your video. Since Mom died last November he has been heartbroken. He even went against his own beliefs and asked God for an obvious sign that Mom was in heaven. It was at night and just like that, his light went out in his living room, but stayed on in the bathroom. The light stayed off for a minute or so and as he was getting his walker to check the breaker box, the light flipped right back on. I didn’t witness it, but my Dad has never lied to me, even with the hard questions I asked. Momma and Dad had been married 57 years, but sweet on each other since they were 12 and 13. Dad remembers seeing those signs pop up everywhere. He just sat here and praised God for sending him this message. God love you JD. Although he reads his Bible all day and prays incessantly, that’s the first time I have seen him praise God since Mom passed. Thank you so much my friend.

Think how many people souls have been saved due to Harrison's love of God and all man kind!
"Hardworking, honest, God fearing" - must have been speaking of him when those words were first strung together. Another very interesting tale told only as you can with your storytelling voice. Thank-you from Québec Canada 🇨🇦
I’ve driven by one all my life in Stepptown West Virginia. It’s on St. Rt. 52. I think it’s God Is Coming Soon. It’s one of the big concrete ones. Very cool to finally know the back story. I’m 53 years old. I can remember it from my earliest age going to my Mamaw Watsons house in Belfry Kentucky 🇺🇸🙏
Most of us make a promise to God when we are in great beer for either our own souls or those of our loved ones. And most of us, myself included, forget those promises as soon as the crisis is done 😔
Thank you Storyteller, Harrison's ministry continues to this day through his signs and through you son, in fact he's touching more people now than ever before - his reach is Worldwide. "Get right with God" is a message for the ages no matter what colour, creed, denomination one belongs to. Best wishes from Sydney Australia.
Thank you so much my friend, Im always blown away by the following of people like yourself who watch from Australia. Im honored to have you here. Greetings from the Mountains of East Tennessee
My Uncle Cecil died in the coal mines. The coal car was taking them down into the tunnel to work, and word has it that someone hollered at him, and he stood and looked back as the car was going down into the tunnel, and it decapitated him. I came from a family of coal miners, and loved hearing their stories when we got together! My Uncle’s had such good humor, that their eyes literally twinkled when they cracked up! My favorite story I heard often from many, including my Uncle Frazier, was how the miners would go to the “Pop Shop” and hang out and drink, and he’d sing himself all the way home! That was until he gave his life to the Lord! Then he would sing his way home from Sunday Services! He told me that he weren’t any good though, until I get to Heaven! I’ll sing real good then! The last time he told me that story, I felt like God’s little pet. We went down to W. Virginia to say our last goodbyes, as he had miners lung, and not long to live. The house was full, people goin in and out, and I just wanted to talk with him one last time by myself. Someone got up from the porch swing where he sat, and I quickly grabbed the spot! Then all the sudden, everyone wandered off, and there I was, alone w my Unc. I asked him if he was afraid of dying. He told me his story that one last time in response. Then he pointed up to the mountains. He said “See them mountains there? I’ve been on top of all of them, and seen this old house from every view. My body will soon be buried on that mountain, and I’ll have a brand NEW view!” My old heart pines for the days of bigger families, and Sunday dinners with cousin time. And of course, listening to the grown ups spin their stories!
I always listen to you at night! So, yesterday with the drama I had no idea this is the man that reads me a story every night! There is a man in Lynchburg, VA that paints crosses and has many of them in his yard. I’m pleased to learn the history behind the signs. Thank you do for the story! ❤
Because of your history and stories ..the story about sergeant York..i read his book and rented the movie...I was never told about him..in fact in school was never taught about WW1 in school...and I am a young 65 year old teaching myself about WW1. And I had family that fought in that war and no one ever talked about it..I love these bits of History and your love for God. Bless you and your family
I tell you this story from my childhood and I assure you its true. Our neighbors had 4 children and we had 5 in ours so we would always hang out and play together. So one day their young cousin came over driving a car, she had just gotten her license . Lets go for a ride ! So we all, and I mean all of us 4 in the front and 5 in the back piled in that old car. Back in the days where an engine had some power. We go out driving around all carrying on and being silly kids, and all of a sudden as we were going to go over the bridge, the car accelerated and the driver freaked out and jerked the wheel, and we all knew we were going over....But we didnt, in a moment that car had righted itself and stood there, perfectly ,stock still. on the bridge . There had been no jerk, or feeling of a wreck or an event at all. Like there would be if you braked , we all would have gone through the windshield if that had happened. That day we all knew, it was a miracle. what had happened was one of the kids legs and foot ,had slipped onto the accelerator, and in her in experience she panicked. Not one of us 8 kids, could deny what happened. I can still remember the moment before we were going over, looking at my sister, both thinking save us God. God had saved us all! believe or not it doesn't matter to me
What a powerful story. The best one yet. Bless you APPALACHIA STORY TELLER. Its nagging on my mind that I've seen one of these concrete crosses beside the road somewhere, at sometime. It's like I can see it so plain but cant remember where.
My Uncle Keith knew a man and he was dying of Terminal Cancer. I believe it was lung cancer, but I'm Not Positive. So the man was laying in the Hospital on his deathbed. He was remembering things during his life that he wished he could go back and change. When all of a sudden he started praying out loud and he promised God that if GOD healed him and let him live, he would get his life straightened out, and he would dedicate the rest of his life to GOD and Preach the WORD of GOD for the rest of his life. He told GOD that from that day Forward, he would be totally devoted to GOD with his Whole Heart, Mind, and Soul! God obliged and healed the man Completely! The doctors ran tests after tests and said that they did not understand because there was no cancer in his body any longer! The man told the doctors that it was GOD that Healed him. The Doctors were baffled, along with the all the nurses. He became a Preacher and kept his word to GOD! And he never learned how to read because he had to help his Dad on the Farm instead of going to School. But when he opened the Bible and asked God to please help him to read the Bible, and from that day forward he was able to read and write. I just wanted to share that story that my uncle had told me about. I often think about that whole situation because when my uncle was telling me the story, I was Completely in AWE!! Thank you for sharing this story!!! It was definitely a great story! God bless!!! 🙏😇
I'm more than old enough to remember this. I didn't know who was responsible for the signs I had grown up seeing until I read about his passing in the newspaper. Like so many things from the past, I had forgotten about it until you posted this video. Thanks!! 👍👍👍👍👍
I love the stories you tell . Thank you for sharing this one . I have seen a many of these signs along the highway. It is awesome to know where they came from . Thank you for sharing this amazing story. God bless you .
I must tell you I found your channel about 2 weeks ago and I am hooked on it. Talk about binge watching, I love the stories and the story teller is great. Thanks so much.
Back in 1913, Harrison was making signs, "Jesus is returning soon," and people have seen it so long they have become complacent! Complacency doesn't change the fact that Jesus is still returning. We are closer today than yesterday, and it is now a matter of days. There will be some "nah-sayers" to see this, just look at the recent things that have happened that you never would have thought would happen........ it's gunna happen, you'll see.
This story was so inspirational. Wow.. I was called to spread the word of God. Just don’t know how to go about it, and this gentleman made it so simple. Even with the retelling of his story he is still making God’s name known. Glory to the lord and Rip kind soul.🙌

Of my four grandparents, three went to work at age 14. One quit school at 12 when her stepfather died. She went to work in a sweat shop making men’s collars. All four gave the money to support their families. This was pretty typical for children of immigrants.

"Hardworking, honest, God fearing" - must have been speaking of him when those words were first strung together.
Another very interesting tale told only as you can with your storytelling voice.
Thank-you from Québec Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you ❤️
I’ve driven by one all my life in Stepptown West Virginia. It’s on St. Rt. 52. I think it’s God Is Coming Soon. It’s one of the big concrete ones. Very cool to finally know the back story. I’m 53 years old. I can remember it from my earliest age going to my Mamaw Watsons house in Belfry Kentucky 🇺🇸🙏
That's awesome, there aren't many of them left out in the wild like that
What a beautiful tribute to God.
amen, have a blessed day
Most of us make a promise to God when we are in great beer for either our own souls or those of our loved ones.
And most of us, myself included, forget those promises as soon as the crisis is done 😔
unfortunately, you are correct
My body will soon be buried on that mountain, and I’ll have a brand NEW view!”
My old heart pines for the days of bigger families, and Sunday dinners with cousin time. And of course, listening to the grown ups spin their stories!
Thank you so much for sharing this story Lisa!
I always listen to you at night! So, yesterday with the drama I had no idea this is the man that reads me a story every night! There is a man in Lynchburg, VA that paints crosses and has many of them in his yard. I’m pleased to learn the history behind the signs. Thank you do for the story! ❤
Thank you for your support my friend, god bless
Amazing story. I wonder how much people were saved by seeing his crosses. Praise God for willing hearts.
Amen
Because of your history and stories ..the story about sergeant York..i read his book and rented the movie...I was never told about him..in fact in school was never taught about WW1 in school...and I am a young 65 year old teaching myself about WW1. Thank you LadyRose ❤️
God had saved us all!
believe or not it doesn't matter to me
I love to hear testimonies like this, thank you for sharing
What a powerful story.
The best one yet.
Bless you APPALACHIA STORY TELLER.
Its nagging on my mind that I've seen one of these concrete crosses beside the road somewhere, at sometime. It's like I can see it so plain but cant remember where.
Thank you ma'am, god bless you my friend
wow, such an amazing testimony

I'm more than old enough to remember this. I didn't know who was responsible for the signs I had grown up seeing until I read about his passing in the newspaper. Like so many things from the past, I had forgotten about it until you posted this video. Thanks!! 👍👍👍👍👍

I must tell you I found your channel about 2 weeks ago and I am hooked on it. Talk about binge watching, I love the stories and the story teller is great. Thanks so much.
Thank you Pat, welcome to the channel, glad to have you here my friend!
Amen brother
Another goodin, JD, I miss the old days, friend! Lord willing, I'll see ya next week!
Thank you Scott, have a great Saturday

This story was played on radio all across America last weekend
Of my four grandparents, three went to work at age 14. One quit school at 12 when her stepfather died. She went to work in a sweat shop making men’s collars. All four gave the money to support their families. This was pretty typical for children of immigrants.
Wow, tough people back then
That was quite the inspiring life, may I find what you have gifted. Thank you.
