To clarify the details on penalties:
A 6M penalty (which is awarded for fouls in the area) the goalkeeper must remain on his line.
A 10M Penalty/Direct free kick (which is awarded for 6th foul) the actual rules state: ''The goalkeeper remains in his penalty area at a distance of at least 5m from the ball' - so you are allowed off from your line (to half way between the kicker and the goal line).

David, i just wanna say thanks for doing this RUclips channel talking on tips and giving us advice and help, you are really helpful in getting us futsal keepers prepared, and i just want you to know that your work is very much appreciated by us, bless up!
What a wonderful comment! Thank you so much. Hearing that gives me so much motivation. I have a lot of exciting things planned for the channel and many videos to come.
I think the futsal, and goalkeeper community is really strong and we can all learn from each other and I hope that we all improve and learn from each other.
David Haynes HI
Guys!!! im addicted, love this sport, started last year, when i was asked to play futsal as defender then our goalie couldnt make it so i was placed into the goal bar... MAN!!! i love it!!! its truely a unique and different role. When i move to sweden definitely going look for a low league team and build myself up. Got interdivision games at college in 8 days. Cant wait!!!! FUTSAL FOR LIFE!!!
Been working hard on the save split, not sure if im be ready with that in 8 days but yoga definitely making me more flexable.
Me when 1vs1 then lose:
Me: WHERE IS MY DEFENDER!?!????
tip: blame the defenders.
No actually dont do that XD
me when i block it:
ME: WHO's THE MAN NOW??!!
tip: take all the credits
AHAHAHAHAHA this made me laugh sometimes the defender trust you enough to catch the ball so they don't really help
Having tournament this coming Saturday. As a newbie, this video definitely huge help! Thanksss
One of my favorite videos, very helpful tips, thanks :)
Whey! Delighted you like it! :) Glad to help :)
this saturday my team will join a big tournament.. about 69 team will be in that day.. i wonder if my team can be in best8..but yahh when we say 69team all the best team will be there at that day..best goalkepers, best striker, best defend.. hurgghh what i most scary most right now is how to face a biggest team and a top player with a good skill and finishing.... i will do what you says..hope this saturday will be a great day for my teams...thanks a lot for sharing and showing the video ..its really helpping me..
Nice video and channel, David! Hello form Russia!
Hola. Muchas gracias por este valioso video. Muy muy bueno. I have just subscribe. God Bless you. Greetings from Costa Rica.
Another great video!
Thank you! :) :)
2:24 i am pretty sure he didn't see you going down, he anticipate you
David but in real games in penalties the keeper can't be closer to the penalty because the keeper must stand on the line of the goal until the ball is kicked.
Hey ya
If it's a penalty, for a foul in the area it's taken from 6M out - and the keeper must stand on his line.
In the case of a 10M penalty/direct free kick (awarded for 6th foul) the actual rules state: 'The goalkeeper remains in his penalty area at a distance of at least 5m from the ball'
So, in this case as long as I'm 5m away, it's fine.

David Haynes ok that's why because I didn't know of that thx for educating to let me know more of the rules because my coach told me you can't step out of the line in futsal to stop the ball.
Sometimes the finish is just too good😂
I got one question, at 3:38, theoretically, if you have enough time to set it up etc, if you ground your knee, wouldnt it better or at least safer to ground your right knee and trust it to cover the whole right side of the goal while the "rest" of you + your hands cover the left side of the goal?
can we safe 1v1 like this 4:52 when the attacker rush up and try to score ?
very good
david, how to save chip ball? thankyou
god v god
thank you
Nice tip
WOWOWOWOWOWWW ,... nice
Can you do a glove collection
7:08 I do that a lot and I am mostly victorious
When was Daniel in Town?
This was filmed in Kettering on Wednesday 8th! What a legend that guy is! :)
And did he make a video for his channel?
David Haynes kinda wish I could have seen. Him but I was probably in school 😔. Anyway great vid
He did! A full 1v1, 5 rounds, me vs. him challenge!
It'll look even more swish than mine once it's up - Looking forward to seeing it myself actually! :)

👌👌👌👌👌

David Haynes :D
Dc
do i just realize that you have a habit of getting down on your left knee way too early?but i guess it's a really fun things to do though lol
I know I drop it my knee, but frankly I wouldn't say it's too early at all. Notice I don't ground my knee, it's instead hovered. As long as it doesn't hit the ground and 'stop' me, I can still react and re-position. I think it in fact assists in creating a wall and doesn't put me at a disadvantage.
I agree in part, I would suggest that it could stop you from closing the ball down quicker as you seem eager to put the knee down. Also, when covering the left hand side of your goal you drop the wrong leg (as per your tip video). Nice video tho, good work.
well that's true, and you have a solid reason about that though but maybe it's because you and i have a different kind of play style,i usually try to keep my "M" shape position in that kind of situations because i want to prevent the players from getting past around me,but from this i can also learn something new, plus that split save is spot on David great hands, another nice video that you gave, gonna wait for the next one. Cheers mate!
Michael BathCollege, I would say it doesn't affect my movement half as much - partly because I will only perform that move if I'm in a position I'm happy with.
But yeah, you're spot on actually - It's not 'best' practice. It is definitely the incorrect leg - not optimal - Something for me to work on. :) Knowing and doing is a very different thing ;)
Thanks for your comment and highlighting this though MuhammadVidi, I appreciate your support. We're all in this together :)
You are lucky you dont have hair to do that trick :D
andrew tate plays futsal
Pro tip: take off the gloves.. you play futsal, we don't use gloves in futsal
can u make videos on 2 vs 1
And fitness for goalkeepers
Hi Lakshmi,
I made the video on how to save 2 v 0 (2 v 1) situations!
I even included you comment in the start of the video - check it out!!
ruclips.net/video/nDHbAEidbPg/видео.html
Daniel is awesome and it's always scary to stand against someone so skillful. The video was fun to watch, and that rainbow flick ha ha . Btw can you do a video or tell us about some exercises we can do in gym or with dumbbells at home for upper body strength cause normal exercises which my gym instructor gave me is making me little muscular but I am having sore muscle all day so I am losing my agility and stamina I guess. Appreciate those saves though ;)
I really enjoyed this video! Well fitting music to match the awesome music! I am thinking that i am going to play futsal in the fall being a goalkeeper, and this really helped me and i will continue to watch your tip and tricks videos! Great Work!
You are the only RUclipsr I know who makes videos ONLY ABOUT Futsal. I am a futsal Goalkeeper and you are a totally inspiration to me!, and you make notice that a being a Futsal goalkeeper it's not the same on Football 11, like a lot of people think.
I just enjoy so much this video! somehow I like this 1v1 situations, it feels so good when you win than hand-to-hand.
And sorry about my English, I'm from South America :D
Hey!
Delighted that you enjoy the videos and thank you so much for taking the time to comment, it means a lot.
Is there anything you'd like to see in the next video? or need help with? :)
David Haynes - I can't believe that you answered me :O Thanks a lot! :D
Oh, and I'm from Venezuela. Well... I really have problems with air balls, centers, free kicks... I get nervous and insecure, it's just a matter of self-confidence, or there's a technique for that?
And one more time, thank you so much! Keep doing your excellent work! :D
Battle of the beards!! Superb video. Dave, you are insane!! DC, treat as always!! 👏🏻⚽️ More of this!!
Thank you so much Ben! Hope that you're doing well and had an AMAZING weekend!
DC is such a dude for helping. :) :) :)
nice vid just need to improve quality of camera nice
What gloves do you wear?
Thanks for the tips
Hi, do you think that 5aside goalies should wear gloves?
Had my first game as keep tonight for my all vegan team here in Portland(Killer TOFU FC) and did prettyu decent I think....VERY first shot on me I took and stopped with my chin, no worries lol. I am noticing that I need to get better at closing distance on breakaways, especially since my team struggles a bit with containing opposing strikers and I get a lot of action....feel a bit too passive sitting back allowing them time to set up a shot. Could use some pointers on how to slide forward, or even just go full on keeper sweeper with feet blocks when closing out.
I also noticed how large the keeper circle is....kinda has me excited to push out more and more. Great fun!
Me encantan tus videos😍 ! Ojalá estuvieran en español ! 😭 jeje
I looove your videos ! I Wish they were in spanish 😭! Hehe 😂!
Regards
The penalty technique that you don’t recommend is similar to what I do in 6 aside that has had a bit of success. Stand to one side slightly but pretend to the striker that you don’t realise and think you’re central. I stand slightly to the left coz I’m better at diving to my right.
Last night i was goalkeeping in an open league and one friend took a penalty, i confused him with my position in front of the post. This really affected him because the shot was very poor and i stopped it very easy. XD Thanks men
in penalty shots, you can't stand too close.you should stand on the line of the goal. it's a Rule !
In a 10 meter penalty he can do that.
I thought that when you are the goalkeeper and there is a penalty u must stand on the goalie line
I like the video and the tips make it fantastic!
My son plays futsal
Very informative.
Nice Video David👏👍
What is this camera
Fantastiic video David! Did you see the match between Pozo Murcia vs Inter Movistar?
I did not! I need to check it out, I'll try find it :)
that's cool
6:20
Amazing video, David!! Didn't know you knew Daniel.
Yeah, he's a great guy, super talented too :)
Lucky to have him on the channel. I'm pleased you liked the video bud :)
Wait a minute, David, this is weird. In penalty shootout, I always get warned by the referee not to step off the line. And sometimes when I do, and I save it, the ref just repeats the penalty, since I was stepping inside the field and disobeying the rules. I thought we played by the same rules everywhere... How is this?
Hey ya Stefan,
If it's a penalty, for a foul in the area it's taken from 6M out - and the keeper must stand on his line.
In the case of a 10M penalty/direct free kick (awarded for 6th foul) the actual rules state: 'The goalkeeper remains in his penalty area at a distance of at least 5m from the ball'

Wow, thank you David! And thank you for finding the reference. I will be using this. Looks like our university league refs arent that much educated... But yea, mostly it is 6M penalty, that Ive been having problems with.
Thanks again, man, it is a great channel! We needed this! I just found your channel and I will be checking the rest of the videos, and I hope to find some tips on how to organize some sort of training only by yourself :)
Regards!
You're welcome Stefan! :)
Yeah, 6m Pens are much harder to save, especially as good strikers tend to hit the ball hard. You have very little time to react. I ust tend to spread and do my best to try and react.
I will actually be doing a video for JUST Pens - Stay tuned :)
Training by yourself - That's actually a WHOLE series that I have planned. It's difficult to get people to help/train with you at times. If you're like me, you always want to improve and it's hard to find ways to do that by yourself. But fortunately I have some ideas and plenty of training drills, tips and advice for you to do yourself.
david, i noticed that u were wearing gloves. do u recommend wearing gloves, because ive been thinking about it but so far ive preferred just using fingertape. i would appreciate it if u could give your opinion.
Hey ya, I've actually made a video on this topic :)
ruclips.net/video/YB1R8RrHffo/видео.html
There's quite a lot of thoughts about this when it comes to futsal, I'd say it comes down to personal preference. I enjoy the extra comfort and grip that gloves provide but I'm aware i'm sacrificing some handling.
David Haynes thx for the response
gloves all the way, especially for safety.
I always dive on futsal it's normal?
You can try with split saves, too. I remember I dived all the time the first time I tried futsal and most of time, the ball gets into the goal because I was too far from saving ball. The goal is very small and it's harder to dive when there is small space. I mean you can dive, but you can also incorporate doing splits saves, too.
Best Video Ever
What a lovely comment, THANK YOU!
hei im from indonesia thks
