I've been a professional commercial photographer for 40 years now and use Photoshop pretty well every day. This is a great tutorial showing some different ways to 'light' stuff in post. I'm consistently surprised by different techniques that I see workers use to achieve requested effects. This is a really clear tutorial: good pace, nice audio - a pleasure to watch. Thank you, it's appreciated. JM
Great tutorial, thank you. I have always struggled with gradients for some reason, your teaching is always so clear and precise and easy to watch. This use of gradient maps is one I will need to try .
Wow!! Great video. I am a novice when it come sto Photoshop. The biggest problem I have is not knowing what I need to know or what I really need to learn. This is very interesting. Thanks
Thank you for this...and thank you for documenting the steps taken. It really enhances learning to have that detailed reference. Great creative ideas that allow for experimentation.
Excellent Colin, the first demo was exactly what I was looking for, almost wrote in how this works, now I know. Thanks again for you great to the point videos.
Hey Colin, @photoshopCAFE, One point that is unclear from the video, does the clipping mask refer to the last unclipped layer, or if the intervening clipped layers have masks, is the clipping mask referring to the intersection of all the clipped layers? I assume the latter. It might be worthwhile to make that point.
Why does Masking in Camera Raw Filter keep freezing on me, particularly the Person, Body parts masks, and especially after blemish removal and frequency separation? Sometimes I have to slow down, let it process, catchup, to avoid crashing.
How is this different than anything that's been available before in photoshop? Other than the adjustable gradients what tool "changes everything"? Nice tutorial but unclear why this is so unique...
Many people aren't aware of clipping groups (the little thing), (They change the way all layers, and adjustment layers interact with each other) no, they aren't new and no one insinuated they were
@@photoshopcafe ok thanks for the reply. Guess I misunderstood the intent. Seemed to be insinuating new by the word "changes" as if it hadn't been there before. Otherwise enjoy the channel - carry on!
I just downloaded photoshop for i pad and it’s completely useless! As a photographer i use focus stacking (doesn’t exists on ipad), i also use the pen tool for more percussion work (doesn’t exists on ipad), i also use warp tool (doesn’t exists on ipad)… i just dont get it. There are other apps that all these features in the ipad version. Like Affinity photo and its a one time fee. Adobe dropped the ball on this. The ipads with the M1 M2 chips are strong and can handle the work. The ipad version is for kids, not a serious work tool in my opinion. That being said, lightroom can be used professionally.

It refers to the bottom, host layer. Just like the first example with the shirt. Except we are using a mask

Hi Collin,
what do ou mean with "this little tool changes everything"? Do you meant the clipping function?
Yes, changes adjustment layers, textures and overlays
Purdy Cool 😎
Why does Masking in Camera Raw Filter keep freezing on me, particularly the Person, Body parts masks, and especially after blemish removal and frequency separation? Sometimes I have to slow down, let it process, catchup, to avoid crashing.
Fantastic effects. Just find it a bit difficult to follow the method. Thanks for the video.
Try it a few times, you can also slow down the speed, or check the website for the written steps
Very nice.
i cant find library so itry to use another photo in its place and im not getting the same results ..
Window>Library or use this tutorial photoshopcafe.com/how-to-combine-photos-in-photoshop-for-beginners/
Thats what my wife keeps telling me

They are adding new features regularly. Just a matter of time I guess.
Or use Affinity for now on your ipad. I’m sure it’s missing some features too?
digital photography is meaningless now
Rubbish! You need a good photo to start with :)
FYI this also works on groups which means you can stack masks
Wonderful!
