He didn't have the artistic ability to say, OK this guy twirling the girl around looks silly; let's leave this out. Frankly you can do a lot with this imagery with old 8mm black and white film and minimalism. At least Immortal didn't take themselves serious. Abbath is hilarious.
@@humantacos9800 I prefer a little bit of the cheese. Its when bands do something serious it gets cringy in my opinion because they try to hard to look serious like Behemoth for example. I like the music but they are just as silly as any other satanic band like Watain and Deicide. I dont take anything serious in metal. All i know is i love the music.
This vid is from their album "Mad Grandoise Bloodfiends". This was when Ancient were at their most strongest when those comparison were taken seriously back in the day with Team COF and Team Ancient. (Lord) Kaiaphas (aka Valerio Costa) main vox is an X-factor performer, especially at 2:53 is where it comes out. If ya check out their other stuff, he's just S-class all the way. NICE. But rather than build on that and what they had going (that seems COF later appropratied maybe, IMO), Apahzel (the Nord guitarist that this was his band) opted for "tr00 kvlt" route re-direct, and 'phone-in' the vox himself. UGH!!! Everyone - hated it. And that fng ended Ancient.
Well my dear, black metal is supposed to be an anathema. Like goth it accepts and even embraces the darker side of nature. This includes human nature. It isn't the place for the light of heart or the fun-loving casual listener.
