I was in the middle of writing a note regarding your mother when you mentioned her mental health issues. This really puts you in a very difficult situation that unless your bio dad comes around may never reach a satisfactory condition.
One thing you seem to have going for you is that you appear to know yourself. In life, that may be more important than anything else.
