Kai Hansen is the father of power metal. The first 3 Helloween albums are absolutely fantastic. Still remember seeing Helloween with Kai for the first time in Gothenburg Sweden . That was 1988, opening for Iron Maiden. Still one of the best concerts I have ever attended.
My father taught me listening to metal, he was a huge helloween, gamma ray fan, 20 years later, gamma ray songs still give me the chills. Live Last before the storm and live Valhalla from Blind Guardian, those two always give me chills.
Finally! One of my favorite powermetal albums from back in the day. I remember I bought this album, Edguy - TOS and Sonata Arctica - Ecliptica the same fkn year, can you believe that! 3 powermetal classics from 99'. Those were the days🤘🤘🤘
That was also the year after Oceanborn, Nightfall in Middle-Earth and Something Wicked This Way Comes were released, not to mention Hammerfall or Rhapsody. The 90s had an absurd amount of great music to offer metalheads. It's kind of a shame they get glossed over so much.
@@MadnessTW and in 2000 i remember Stratovarius Infinite, Nightwish Wishmaster and Rhapsody Dawn of victory in particular.. perfect albums all together. 90s and up to 2005 was a golden era for powermetal. So many timeless classics from that time.
Gamma ray is becoming a "throwback" band just because they've been inactive for so long. Their last album was six years ago. Kai is back with Helloween for now, and it's great, but I want new Gamma Ray, probably at least 2 more years away. This is probably their rmost "proggy" song, and you can hear the Queen influences in there too that pop up in his music occasionally.

The main riff and the way it just rips right out of the speakers as soon as you hit play never ceases to put a smile on my face! This video makes me realize you guys really really need to get on board with some Running Wild!

This was the final song of the album. The first song of the Power Plant also started with that mellow intro which sounds similar to the outro of Armageddon. It is like Seveth Son of the Seventh Son album by Iron Maiden. It begins with "Seven deadly sins..." as an intro before the first song and ends with "Seven deadly sins..." as an outro after Only the Good Die Young.
Finally, the father of power metal and the best power metal band, ever. I've seen Gamma Ray like 7 or 8 times live. No matter where they play, little theater, square, stadium or big halls, the sound of their concerts is superb... I really don't know how they do it. Too bad that Kai Hansen putted Gamma Ray on hold, cause you know... Helloween and sh*t 😂. I really hope that someday they will make another album. I recommend you to hear Valley of the Kings... and also, check the history of Kai Hansen, you will be blown away 🙂
Gotta love some classic Gamma Ray! You guys should check out some of Pyramaze's older stuff: Year of the Phoenix, A Beautiful Death, What Lies Beyond, Tears of Hate, Sleepy Hollow, Power of Imagination. To name a few. Such incredible power metal.
This is the song that cemented me into metal when I was 19 years old. I am sencerely sorry that you missed their concert. Their concerts are a fucking blast, I've attended to at least 10 over the years. I acctually went to their gig at Sweden rock festival (I think it was 2006) instead of an up coming band who nearly nobody had heard about, their name was Sabaton... You should check some of their new stuff out like Seven or Avalon from their latest release Empire of the Undead
when they closed up all the pubs in the Czech Republic due to corona, this was the first song I thought of :D you know, when you don't let Czechs have a beer or ten at a pub, you know armageddon is coming :D
Oh, by the way. Gamma Ray are from Hamburg which is only about 40 km from where I live. It's also one of the few Power Metal bands that I can listen to since most of the genre is just too soft (almost poppish) for me. Song is awesome, even though in short parts it reminds me of "God gave Rock 'n' Roll to you" by Kiss. Check out Persuader - Strike Down if you're into heavier Power Metal.

I love Gamma Ray. It's one of my favorite bands but i didn't like the video cause the sound was too low. I can't help it, i don't like to hear Metal when the volume is too low.

I hit a hatrick buying this album, avantasia and demons and wizards in short succession. All three are masterpieces of powermetal.
