flip was THE TEAM back in the day. Geoff, Tom, Arto, Rune, Pj, Ali, Bastien Mark. All the biggest hitters. The golden era to me. Those videos changed skateboarding.

True. But "Stéphane Larance"! and Jean Tongo before him. in any case the Paris area has a very big black population, and there were always black dudes skating. France is not segregated like the US and never has been.

I've always had mad respect for Bastien but this interview multiplied my respect for 10x. This was a very inspirational interview. What a stand-up dude.
Bastien is pure class! He is so well spoken and positive! This is one of the best Nine Clubs yet!
Not to mention English isn't his native tongue, as a Frenchman. What a legend, gotta respect the bilingual talent!

So kickflip pretzels are cool but no complys suck? Just bc he didn't put them in his parts doesn't mean he didn't do them. His parts were mostly bangers and not alot of lines or having fun. He's from the generation of hammers

No slo-mo, no dork tricks. I'm just saying in 99-00 people didn't have wallrides, no complies or polejams in parts like they do now but it doesn't mean they didn't do them it just want cool at the time to show them in parts

meet that guy in south of france was slightly younger than me he was not even famous yet. i would have never thought he would have get such a big part in the flip video it was truly amazing to see that. definitly one of the best back then

a couple of minutes into this podcast and I can say that you can sense when the invited people are really open or not. Bastien seems to be part of these guys who just have somewhat of an aura of openness around them. MUCH RESPECT for everyone making this podcast.
Bastien is 1 of my all time faves. Sorry and Really Sorry are so legendary, so ahead of the time
I still think Bastien is the most underrated skater. I remember it took me years to understand how gnarly his sorry part wsa, despite watching it probably over 100 times. He was so far ahead of the game
So many parts of this made me smile. Love his honesty and the history. Thank you, Nine Club . Questions were on point. I saw him compete at one of those big Euro contests just after the Sorry video release and at that point in time, he was unstoppable. Early to mid 2000's, he was the best contest skater in the world. It's weird to be proud of someone you don't really know, but I am of this dude. Such a ruler. All the best for the future Bastien. Always hyped to see something from you.

Best era of skating. 199-2006ish. Would love to see the other flip guys arto, Geoff, Ali, Tom penny. That video and team was HUGE back then. Best videos. Sorry, yeah right, this is skateboarding. The styles back then we're so much better. I'm glad I got to skate back then and am not one of these new kids that only know how skating is today. That's all they know

first, was fully hoping/expecting a fat albert intro. second, bastiens part in sorry really had an influence on me. he does a kick flip nose grind back 180 on a table i think.. just how fun and good he made it look, ill never forget it.

Damn. That was the best episode. Bastien was my favorite skater growing up, and I definitely had several pairs of his vans. After this I am so stoked for him! He is such a well spoken and inspirational guy. I loved hearing his process of dealing with negativity, focus and setting goals as well. Living legend for sure! I can’t wait to see more from him. 🙏

Legend. I remember seeing Sorry and I felt like giving up. Used to watch Bastien's part every day, getting super amped up from the music. Man, it was the coolest video part ever made to me, back then. Love you Bastien! Thank you so much for your hard work.
I remembered when Sorry came out. It was one of , if not the biggest skate video at that time. Johnny Rotten announcing the skaters, classic. Everybody I knew watched that video religiously before skating, and Really Sorry. Bastiens part was right up there with every big pro during that time.

Being a Dad at 22. That explains why he dropped off the radar quite early. But nonetheless still a very successful career; truly blessed to have been given the opportunities he received. Well done Bastien. Very inspiring to know the history and stories behind the flip days as this video was definitely one of the most influential for me and my skateboarding journey from a beginner as I was only beginning to do kickflips and stuff.

I remember when I turned Eurosport channel and they were showing the Dortmund contest, hitting record on VHS and ruining my brothers movie, Bastien was skating, being from east Europe we didnt have access to videos, so me and my friends watched that contest every day for years, Bastien is a legend and as I can remember he won that contest at 14 years old. And yes, where Im from its called a bastien flip not a pretzel.
