Yes. There are so many overlaps between Hip Hop and skating. I've been part of both most of my life. So stoked to see Ty on Hot 97, that was a perfect choice. Don't forget there are tons of other NYC skate legends out there to consider for future interviews!

Tyshawn is amazingly humble. I love the way he breaks down core skateboarding for the hosts who know very little and seem to not have done research prior to filming.

This interview was great, a group of people genuinely wanting to be enlightened into a deeper layer of skateboarding and I felt Tyshawn did an excellent job representing what it’s all about 👊 💯
Man Tyshawn is way too humble. For those more on the outside of the skate scene this man released some absolutely historic skate footage over the last couple months. That kickflip and backside flip between the train platforms and the switch ollie over the picnic table are all tricks that had never been done. Also just the most wholesome dude in skating. Everyone should be rooting for Tyshawn.
Not really anymore he’s getting a pretty big but it’s deserved after being fucked over by FA and skating for supreme forever without being paid
Humble and wholesome might be the last words that I would use to describe him these days. This is just him putting on a facade for the mainstream media after all that soty fiasco.

3:40 I think this is the first time I've heard of a top level skater saying they learned about skating from a video game! That is so cool, and I feel like it's fairly new seeing as how those games are about 25 years old now. All the pros who started because of the game would be in their late teens or early 20's. I bet we'll start hearing this a lot more in the next decade. I skated before THPS but the game and the culture around skateboarding at that time is what really made me dive into it fully.

I love the part where he didnt act like he was special even though he is. A LOT of pro skaters will have the same trick arsenal because they are all performing at the highest level of it. Some have a little easier time and some dont with certain tricks I'm sure but, these guys have been doing this their whole life and as a skater myself. Your goal is to learn ALL the tricks in the book.

There's been tons of top pros that are black. I can't speak to whether it's accepted in the hood, but one time I was skating in some hood in the Bronx I wanna say, a white kid. There were some serious characters at the spot. As soon as they saw I was skating I was fine. Infact they even told me the trick to hitting the gap into the street, timing the roll up by the change in the street light. This was in like 2001.
