I’m enjoying it up here in Minnesota. You just try to avoid opening it as much in the winter. Which is true for any cover I’ve owned in the winter. There is a release you can activate if you want to force it open without the motor cables fighting you.
how has this cover been working out since installation? do you find that it keeps more or less water out than the previous manual cover? Is there a way to manually open in the event that that is an issue with power?
Couple of questions... 1) Can you stop the cover at any point, or is it just full open? 2) Does it sense resistance if it hits something before it crushes an item/finger or child?
Yes you can stop it. Just triple press again. And if it collides it will back up, but if you close it immediately again, it will close and stop on it with pressure. Holds some things in place nicely.
@@ds6224 yep. There is a little white handle underneath the rear of the bed cover that disengages the cover from the motor slides. But how do our tailgates open without power these days? 🤔
Holy sh*t what a cool upgrade over the Powertrax XR that I've been thinking about. That's some serious coin for a tonneau though. I been reading some horror stories about water drainage/seepage. Issues with the EQ or did ReTrax make it better?
So you’re saying the canister is smaller on the electric version than the regular manual version? Is that correct? I owned a Retrax Pro for a 15 F350 KR and loved it but have. Anew Raptor coming and the bed is smaller and I want as much room as possible. May go with the electric just because of that.
i have this on my new raptor and the canister is minimal. It does not get in the way when storing stuff underneath it. i camped with a bed truck tent camp with the realtrax eq open and it did not get in the way at all.
Now that you have owned this product for a while, how is maintenance? Is the cover on the bulkhead easily removable to remove debris? How does it handle snow and especially ice? Will it still open or have you blown fuses?
@@ChrisGreen-pk7by it’s been perfect for me this far. Love the “clamping” feature when it can close and put a little pressure on anything sticking out of the box. I make a point not to open it with debris on it, so I’ve never had to open it yet. It has frozen up, but it has stall torque limits before a fuse blows. I disengaged the cover from the motors with the lever underneath and manually broke it loose, then operated it normally. (I try to avoid opening it in the winter if I can, like any other cover)
How far down it hangs is competitive. But it still comes out towards the tailgate pretty far. But they did need space for the two motors and stuff. If I had to pick which direction to gain space, I’d take more volume below it so I’m happy. Nice being able to slide luggage or whatever underneath it again.
I’m going from the older polycarbonate retrax to the low-profile tri-fold. I hated the ~15inches lost with retractable, but it was dealer-installed when I bought my truck secondhand, so I tolerated it until it broke recently. Went back n forth b/w BakFlip, Line-x and Rough Country. Ended up ordering the RC that was $500 cheaper and with a lifetime warranty. Should be here in 2 wks
Went to the link and i don't see any 2024 chevy 2500 available. Do you know of an availability date or if the 2022 EQ would fit the 2024 trucks? Thanks
Normally I’d say with the mid cycle refresh in 2023 that everything would still fit since the body and frame didn’t change, but since this needs to connect to the BCM, things between the refresh and 2020+ could have changed. I don’t know the release dates unfortunately. This is a brand new cover, so it’s fair to assume that they will support more models in the future. You could contact RealTruck. They own Retrax and would be your best bet for an answer.
THE EQ DOES NOT WORK ON NEW GM TRUCKS- DO NOT BUY IT IF YOU HAVE A NEW CHEVY/GMC. The promised door lock/unlock and tailgate functions don't work, and it almost never responds after 3 presses of the remote. 4-6 is the norm. !DO NOT BUY THE RETAX EQ IF YOU HAVE A NEW CHEVY/GMC!
You run a pre-cut wire that already has that plastic flexible conduit on it from the bull head of the cover, underneath the truck, and up to the battery. There’s other cables to zip tie them to along the way. Pretty easy. Eyelets are already terminated to the wires and everything.

Will the rhino rack work with a Thule cargo box?
It's a nice concept for people who live no where near ice and snow.

@@TruckOwnership101 I'm your WI neighbor so totally agree with you. It's good to know spending that kind of money does offer a manual mode
Just ordered eq from them. Thanks for sharing 💯
Great explaination! Good job. Thank you.

Just installed this cover by myself in less than 45 minutes... 2 hours for 2 guys must have included beer breaks...😂

Is there a manual override for when your battery dies and you need to get to your jumpbox stored in the bed?

Very nice cover. Nice channel too btw. Thanks.
I have a question regarding the canister size. On camera, this canister looks as small as the roll n lock canister. Is that correct?

Just got one of these installed. Do you know how get the led light to go off?
Even though expensive I'm definitely getting EQ.
Whats the model # on your rhino bike rack?
Press the “More” button after the title of the video and you’ll see all my links to the exact items I’m running. 😊
Thank you 👍
Retractable vs Folding tonneau covers. I’m floundering back and forth between these two
If that space lost to the canister doesn’t bother you, then I’d go with retractable. That’s usually the dealbreaker I think…
@@TruckOwnership101 went to a dealer that sells and installs tonneau covers. Went with the folding one. Being installed.

Just clips from RealTrucks promo video. Should be on the same page I send you to.

Do you still own the putco lightbar and if so, how has it been holding up?
Yep! Still amazing. Haven’t had to mess with it since I made the video.
He completely glossed over the built-in trac system, so he didn't need to have that whole rack on top if he wasn't going to showcase it.
Hmm true. 🤷🏽♀️ maybe he’ll use it
I understood the control interface, but how did you connect the power to the bed canister; i.e... Where does the canister get its power from?

What rack system is that can you add a link
Go to the (more) option at the bottom of the video. Lots of links there.
Nope. I’ll go manual, for a multitude of reasons. Tier 2 satisfies.
Any plans to make available to larger 2500 series trucks?
I’m guessing you checked and they don’t? If all the other Retrax models go up to 3/4 ton, then I don’t see why they wouldn’t eventually…
For a few dollars mor you could get a paint matched camper shell. For me, it's just not worth the price.
Way too expensive for the average joe. $3,100.00 for base model. Great you get a big discount, but not in our world.
No real information, how much does it leak, what amount of weight can be placed on top of it?
1/8 the cost of your truck! Naw!
It will fail within a year
Jesus hell $3200? bwahaaaa hard pass
😂🤣$3200 🤡
