Now I'm getting tempted to add one of these to my Collection. Livingston Thompson was one of the early loco's to work on the Ffestiniog when it reopened but was very worn out. But she will never steam again due to her historical importance. But so good that Bachmann have brought her back to life
As a NorthAmerican modeler, never been crazy over European type locos. My theory is"we model what we see", but this was great, and that little engine is KILLER! love your material, thank you for sharing.
Hi Mark, glad you like the loco it really is a stunner, i often thought about doing an american n gauge layout as there is alot of rolling stock about and usually alot cheaper than the european stuff and ive seen dome decent looking layouts but like you say we stick to what we now, i mite do one day but would have to learn alot more about american railroads and what part id like to model, i do have some american outline g scale rolling stock, but not in any particular livery yet, thanks for watching. Tom
Hi David, glad you like the model it certainly is good quality and the more i run it the more am glad i bought it, am working abit on the 009 now finishing the basic track plan, i need to finishe the scenery on the upper level of the 00 line so am not leaning over and disturbing the 009 which will hopefully get worked on soon, ive got some tweeking to do with the track before i can start ballasting, thanks for watching and the comments are much appreciated. Tom
What an absolutely gorgeous locomotive!! I’ve been a friend of the Ffestiniog Railway for several years and have been behind this locomotive. Prototypical running would be with the chime whistle rather than the single tone whistle.
thats great and thanks for the info on the whistle, i was only a little kid last time i visited the Ffestiniog railway so i now very little about these locos, ill hopefully visit there soon aswell as the welsh highland railway, i liked looking at this particular one at the nrm a few years ago. thanks for watching. Tom
cheers it certainly is and am not sure about a garrett lol if bachmann do make one id be tempted but it mite look to big for my track, thanks for watching. Tom
Hi i use the gaugemaster prodigey, its reasonably simple to use am still learning how to change settings and stuff but just to run locos its simple to use, if you can afford dcc i would certainly recommend it as for me personally it just enhances the running value especially on a smaller layout, i currently run mine on analogue at the moment as all my other locos arent dcc fitted but am sure ill gradually change over once more dcc ready 009 locos become available, thanks for watching. Tom
@@geoffbrown2747 Hi Geoff i use the gaugemaster prodigey for my layout, the other brands ive only used to basic controllers so i cant say how good they are really but i find the gaugemaster prodigey easy to use, hopefully this is helpful. Tom
Hi I haven't tried it myself on analogue but according to bachmanns announcement video on the loco the basic sounds will work on regular dc, hope this is of help, thanks for watching. Tom
Hi i had a little look into what you asked and in one of my bachmann brochures it does state that they have rephrased how they list the new sound locos instead of dcc sound fitted they list them as sound fitted locos apparently to let people now that there new sound fitted models presumably all scales n,00 and 009 will work on analogue but they will only be the normal running sounds when power is provided to the track and loco is running, hope this is helpful. Tom
Hi am using the gaugemaster prodigey in this video, at the moment am running it on analogue as this is my only dcc fitted model on the 009 track, it runs well on either, hope this is helpful, thanks for watching. Tom
@@northwesttrainsmodels thanks Tom, went into Carnforth Models and picked up a Fairlie with sound. .. on your recommendation told them it was down to your recommendation of them 😀 thanks for the info
Hi the tightest part of the curve is about 5 or 6 inch radius, very tight really but the double Fairlie handles it fine and my other 009 lo is I've purchased so far hope that's helpful ,thanks for watching. Tom

Great on slow crawl...impressive detail and looks a great runner...hope the layout gets developed more

A beautiful model - how about a WHR garnett next.

Hi, looks good. Digital loved electro frog points. Should avoid insulfrog points
Hi Ian its certainly a decent loco, it was fine on both sets of points thankfully after a good run in, thanks for watching. Tom
Am going to take the leap as I wanted something "realistic" on 009, but done nothing in DCC. Can I ask what DCC control kit you are using?

thanks, its a great loco. Tom
I’ve bought the DCC Fairlie but have yet to get a DCC controller, which DCC controller are you using your layout please.

If you buy the sound fitted will it still make the sounds if you don't have a DCC layout?
