I absolutely love your channel I never known anyone with such knowledge on planes and I know quite a few older men who use these quite regularly. I use them myself another number of Stanley planes and a couple of record. I enjoy using them quite regular and I would love to own one of yours so if you are selling any in the future, I would like to know, please keep up the channel, and thank you for all your knowledge Kind regards, William
Bill isn't sure what it is made of but it is one of his numerous soft hammers. He has just been given a hammer for wedges and we did a video a few weeks ago.
Hello bill . Just a quick question flattening the back of the iron using sandpaper method on glass without water i am guessing you would have to see a colour change if overheated by that time i am guessing it would be too hot to even touch at that point
Could listen to Bill talk for hours.
Thank you for sharing.
Best plane videos ever
Thanks so much from across the pond
Thank you Bill for the recap on your blade sharpening angles etc, most useful…👍, nice to have a longer upload as well😃
I like to share the little bit of knowledge I have acquired.
Superb, Bill. Choose what works, keep it simple and do it repeatedly.
You are correct, keep it simple.
Thank you so much Bill for answering my question. Cheers Alan
My pleasure,

Presumably you sharpen chisels the same way albeit at 25 degree angle? Thanks for sharing you knowledge Bill and Sarah
I don't check the bevel neither do I check the irons I just offer them to the stone and sharpen them, near enough 30 degrees.
Have you tried the blunt chisel.
That was thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you. Is that some sort of leather hammer?

You have nothing to worry about if you are doing it by hand you will never get enough heat to over heat it.
@sarahcarter1319 .thankyou so much for your quick reply :)
