THANK YOU as always to the MLVC crew for curating this amazing reunion and conversation. I’m so glad you got the whole cast together again to reunite and preserve the legacy of not only Madonna, but of the dancers, singers, and bands! As a Madonna fan who wasn’t around at this time, it helps me understand what the Erotica era was like in 1992-1993 as I’m always trying to grasp what was it like to be there from this video to the comments as well! Great job and ALSO thank you for making this accessible to everyone a year later! XOXO, a Gen Z Madonna fan from Toronto, Canada trying to listen, observe, and learn! ❤
Thank you for making this special moment available!! I'm from Brazil and it was the first time Madonna performed here, I was 16 years old and I was at the first performance on November 3, 1993 here in São Paulo, it was the happiest day of my life, I'll never forget it. ❤️
I was there too … I was 14 years old and it was the first time that I saw her … when she rehearsed about 4 or 6 songs in front of us and I saw was unforgettable.
I cannot find the words to express how thankful I am for this. This concert for me encapsulates all the things I love about Madonna, and each and every person in this video has stayed with me for various reasons my whole life. It has always held a space in my mind for the kind of excellence I wanted to strive for in my own life, and what was possible in pop culture. Thank God for podcasts like this, and for opportunities to bring these artist together. THANK YOU SO SO SO MIUCH. x
This was my first Madonna tour. Traveled across the country on a bus. This, to me, is the gold standard of her tours for reasons that they have been discussing. So incredible! Thanks for this.
Sunday 26th September 1993. My first ever M show and my first big stadium show. I had only been to see bands in theatres and clubs before that. I went with my bestie Mark, we were both massive Madonna fans. It turned out that we both came out as gay a few years later. I know right what a shock, two teens who followed the Queens every move. We actually had a crazy day that day back then. We had been on holiday to Austria and flew back to Manchester on the 26th. My brilliant Mum and Dad drove us from Manchester to London and dropped us right outside Wembley. I will never forget that day. Walking up to the Wembley turnstiles, going inside and getting the first look at that incredible massive stage set. So thanks Mum and Dad for buying our tickets, driving miles...infact flying from one country to another and then driving to London and putting us all up at the Wembley Hilton and then driving us home back to Scotland on the Monday. Then the cherry on the cake having our nights show recorded and broadcast later on BBC Radio 1. Thank you to everyone involved in making dreams come true. ❤❤
The Girlie Show here in Sydney, was my very first concert. I had just turned 16yo at the time and had just moved out of home. It was the craziest time in my life and this show is the greatest memory I have (from 1993). I still have my tour t shirt. Listening to this reunion was so special. Paul Pesco still makes my heart skip a beat ;)
I hope she performs in yours country again. When Guy said that the Celebration Tour is over for now I hope it means that she surprise all the Australian, NZ and Asian fans. I've got my fingers crossed for you. ❤❤
Thanks for posting! Great conversation. This was my first concert. Girlee is always so special to me 💖 And I can see this tour being the gold standard for concerts. So much love and genuine expression.
The band slapped in The Girlie Show, mad Props to everyone in the band. Who's That Girl Tour band also awesome. I liked the Drowned World band as well.
I thought opening for Girlie show was very good "Erotica" but "Fever " perf was mind blowing, I also loved the Rain and. also loved "Everybody" how she danced and sing and got up and did her thing. YEHHH! Oh yes and Justify My Love was fantastic
Massive WOW for this episode! Many wows!! Epic guests! Well done! I wish guests had thumbnails on their windows with their names on them. I don’t recognize half these guys. Is Omar, Omar Hakim? Wow!
My boss at the time got his daughter tickets to one of her US shows, I wasn't able to see it (I live on the west coast), but I did see the Blonde Ambition tour in Oakland, CA. And can we also talk about how hot Ben is? He looks like a Ciccone!
@@phillipthomas5382 Glad it's not just me. So many vids I see her shading Madonnas career (especially the parts she wasn't involved in) yet she none stop uses Madonnas name to sell her shows with Donna (love Donna). Its very very annoying.
I do have to say from a probably uninformed place and apologies if it’s a misconstrued comment but how is it ok for Christopher to be friends with Niki? She does not ever say anything really nice about M and now this? Hmmmmmm.
@@phillipthomas5382 and this is after she was clearly advised to tone it down after an intervention on a podcast a few years ago. She just comes through as jealous and bitter. Madonna is the only reason we know her no matter what you think of Madonna. Niki is using the platform she owes to Madonna to make statements about music that I can totally decipher as a singer who has been exposed to that type of entitled musician, dancer or backup singer who always think they’re above the main act and fame and fortune just because they didn’t achieve it themselves.
@@phillipthomas5382 to be fair Niki hasn’t said anything here really but the comment about Christopher texting her in the light of that not so distant podcast where she basically explained how M was an athlete and not an artist is not in the best taste. Omar Hakim is legendary for good reason but I didn’t catch who that cool dude who said M taught him was much was.
@@alexd1121 well she certainly made a point not to elaborate about M. And tried to chime in when they were talking about Madonna being so close with them on the tour. No one gave her room which was fabulous. They all stayed M positive. I’m not sure who was saying that M made him. Was it the same guy who said how gentle M was with him? That was sweet. I wasn’t looking at the screen for most of it so I didn’t catch who was who. I’ll probably watch again. I personally loved that tour so much it brings a lot of great nostalgia.
This is giving me Life!!!
I cried, I laughed, I reminisced and I felt so much love. This was incredible, I’m speechless 🫶🏽
Christopher Ciccone was a huge part of the success of this show too.❤
Absolutely.
Yes I really miss his perspective in the Madonna pantheon! And I really want to hear that conversation.
Chris mentioned when he lived with Madonna they would be watching old time movies and art (inspiring them to do the girlie show)
Love love love this episode - the Girlie Show is arguably my absolute favorite tour of all time
I saw the show at the MCG, in Melbourne, Australia, on Friday, November 26, 1993 - extraordinary, loud, fun - good times!!

🎭The Girlie Show 2.0🎭
Funnily enough they barely spoke about Madonna. Good conversation though. Thank you.
Mike McKnight could be related to Stefan 😂
Harris is so annoying. She just constantly bugs me. Love the rest of them.
I feel that too. She seems to be the instigator anti energy. Awesome group otherwise!!

Agreed. She makes the “live music” quip every interview, talks over everyone. Ugh.
@@seanp7dc I'm so glad I'm not alone In thinking this
no one asked if songs or numbers already tried in place of others were deleted
was the dude in the sunglasses Luis Conte...her percussionist? How does he look like hes 30?
Hmmmmm that looks like it could be his son
No, Luis Conte didn't participate, that was one of her dancers, he's the Asian
Ahhhh he didn’t say very much lol
