pro boxing bouts in modern era are so carefully curated they are barely worth anything at all. Promoters very carefully choose matchups and a boxer fights only 1-2 times per year.
Pro boxers also get to win multiple championship belts and hold onto them just by beating one person.
in "amateur" sport an athlete must be continually competing every season, participating in your tournaments where they compete against multiple opponents in the same day.
If at any point they miss competition, their whole season dies there and then.
I like boxing, but wrestling of all kinds is way more demanding physically and mentally.
You have to remain offensive and active or you immediately lose. So you are in full contact with a dynamic moving weight in the most awkward shape fighting against you for several minutes straight. It's brutal. And there is zero financial reward which makes it more hardcore.
If you have ever wrestled, especially freestyle, it feels like you are getting mauled by lions or crocodiles. It's a very intense feeling and incredibly satisfying when you become that lion or crocodile.

@PiousCoding The ruling elite are using so-called "family values" in order to stress the fact that they, the comprador-capitalist "elites", don't believe it to be their responsibility to look after the Russian people - i.e. "look after yourselves, we don't care how - just don't get in the way of our theivery". They've shown time and time again that they spit on citizen and their rights, unfortunately. Churches are being built by the hundrerds, and yet crime, mafia, media lies and corruption are omnipresent. What Russia needs is a system that takes care of the well-being of the people, not of the comprador "elites". I believe that this will happen once again in the future, the question is when. A socialist reincarnation is quite possible when the Russian people's patience will dissipate.
