On swatch sticks these days I do my toppers clear, and over a stick I've pre-painted half black, half white (left and right because it's easier than top and bottom). This gives me an idea what it'll look like over light and dark colors. Half and half, because I don't really want to spend THREE sticks on showing one color. I did that at first, and they took up way more space than I'd like. And it can look pretty cool, seeing the same glitter change color from one side to the other.
three years later, we have the food themed ones that kinda look like the pineapple one, we have a ton of jellies that look like the zoya pixie one, and we have the shimmer ones that kinda leave a streaky look that's "in" lol

I don't own Amazon Amazoff but would a layer of a nude polish under it prevent staining?Because the nude won't change the color too much and will give you an extra layer between your nails and the polish. I never bought it because everybody says it's this worst stainer ever...
Ugly Sweater Party: Someone drank too much punch and vodka at the office holiday party, threw up on their sweater, they washed it and the stain wouldn't come out. That was the idea behind that polish. I love/hate pineapples have peelings too, though. lol Fun video. TFS
I have the Ugly Sweater Party polish and I absolutely love it! Ironically, I usually wear it over a red base as an accent nail for 4th of July manicures, but almost never wear it at Christmas. My all time ugliest would have to be Flying Dragon by China Glaze, but only because I don't own Pineapples Have Peelings Too!
You described the first Zoya color so well I got that same vibe from it and the OPI pineapple one I think is pretty in the bottle but it should stay in the bottle lol

Noir is one of my absolute faves and I've had to reorder it 4 times already. I can say with certainty that you definitely got a BAD bottle of that one. It didn't even look the same as mine when you were doing the application in the video. In all the years I've been wearing it, not once has it dried with that much shine as yours did in the video, so something is definitely off with your formula. It's a great one to wear on your toes, especially if you go without socks in your Chuck Taylors because it doesn't flake off easily. Plus, it looks pretty. When I came to Zoya in 2013, they had 3 Pixie Dusts: the regular, Magical Pixie Dust, and then Ultra Pixie Dust. They were three very distinct and intentionally different forumlae. The Ultras contained hexagonal glitters, the Magicals contained more than one colour of glitter (like in the Noir, its base hue and glitter is a dark cherry but they also included violet glitters), and then the regular ones were just matte glitters that matched the base hue. They all introduced together if I'm not mistaken and after so many people complained when they announced they would be stopping that line, they brought them all back in even better colours now! So, not sure if you were understanding the history of those correctly, but thought I'd jump in and tell you what I knew of them. BTW, AmazonOn-AmazonOff is teal and thus one of my favourite colours. You can wear it over a light coat of Elmer's glue and it won't stain, plus I think Zoya actually makes an anti-stain treatment now that you can wear under colours that tend to stain. Oh, and maybe OPI wanted to just make a bad pineapple party. Who knows? It's hideous--you're right. Great video! Cheers.
Hey Carla! Good to know this must be a bad bottle. Unfortunately I'm not so much a fan of the Magical or Ultra ones in general, the original ones that came out stole my heart and I'm glad they're reintroducing that line (the new ones are awesome!)
Kelli do you have or can you show us how you hold your hands and brush painting at the same time. It looks so much easier and more comfortable the way you do it. Some of us didn't have the luxury of growing up doing it.
+thomas smith hey Thomas! You've got nothing to worry about, it gets SO much easier the more you do it. To be honest, I never painted my own nails before college haha, I remember I tried once and my mom laughed at me. So I always made her or friends do it. It took me a couple months to get comfortable with my own method of painting and honestly, everyone prefers to hold their hand differently while painting. I've got an older video about how to paint your nails and I think you might get a glimpse of how I hold the brush in that, but my personal preference is to lay my hand flat on a surface, rest my painting hand on my pinky, and paint very slowly!

Love your hair. What did you use to make it purple from some angles? BTW, all Ciate polish is awful: horrible smell, multi-coats. I put mine in a closed plastic container and I can STILL smell it through the container in closed bottles. Blech!
Amazon Amazoff? Thanks for the hint! Last week I grabbed Color Club's "Spell It Out" from a discount basket for $2. It's a holographic version of that pretty blue-green OPI. In three days it stained my nails so badly that a sheer pink I have on now looks peach. I had on two layers of basecoat too. Sad.
Lol, I bought Pineapples have Peelings too because it was different. I quickly realized it was vomit inducing, and threw it away. Your live swatch actually makes it look pretty though 😂 It broke my heart just a little bit to see Zoyas on your list...my fave brand. I actually like Noir, but I do get exactly what you mean about about the weird chunkiness in the matte jelly formula. Have you tried the Pixie Dusts that came out in the Seashells collection last year? Zooey and Bay and Cece and Tilly and Levi are BEEUTIFUUL 😍 I haven't tried Linds.

I literally laughed out loud when I saw the pineapple polish. I remember seeing it in the store and thinking "my God that's hideous!" And that sweater party polish is ugly too. I tried it before and it's awful. Ciate is terrible. I've tried several of their polishes and returned every single one of them. Ciate and Butter London are two high end brands that suck.

I'm not an expert, but I think your mic is too far away from you and turned up too high- it's picking up all the sound in the room instead of just a clean recording of your voice. You could try putting it closer and turning it down a little, or try a lav mic (little one that clips to your shirt) - or get a sound blocker to sit your mic in so it's focused on the direction of your voice? Or see if there's a program you can use to filter out the ambient sound, possibly? Commenting before watching (before I forget) cause of your note about hearing your fella making dinner- but looking forward to this vid :D
Aaaaand now I've watched it- I agree with you on all your choices (including that they're probably someone's favourite and beautiful on their hands :D ) and I laughed when you said you never use that green cause it stains, because I was in the middle of doing a double stamped mani, stamping with a green I never use cause it once turned my entire fingertip and nail wicked-witch green for a few days :D I have it on top of several layers of china glaze, base and top coat, so I feel a bit safer using it to stamp :D

I just bought Amazon Amazoff. Love it but was shocked all my hands were green after taking it off! Glad it’s not just me. Stayed on the skin for about 12 plus hours. Good job it was mid week and not weekend. I use a peel off base coat with it now.

Have you ever seen 'To Peach His Own'' by KB Shimmer? It's very similar to Pineapples Have Peelings Too, but its in this dreadful nudey peach base that takes forever to get opaque.

I have a video idea! How about you help us figure out some polish storage ideas? My shoeboxes are not exactly elegant and I don’t have one of your gorgeous polish racks! My favourite polish types are the Rimmel 60 seconds Super Shine, Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Extreme Wear, and Colour by TBN (and TBN are crazy cheap too, but still great quality). Can recommend them all. Can you recommend some good matte top coats? I keep buying them but can’t find a decent one that actually works.
3:20 i have a blue sally hansen argan oil polish that i truly love, but it stains worse than any other color and removes like the brightest red (aka pigment everywhere and requires twice the amt of clean up)

i have a Nails Inc polish called 'Warwick Way' that's a vivid teal and it stained through THREE COATS OF BASE COAT!!!! my nails had a blue shade to them for way too long. i only keep my duff polishes so i know not to accidentally re-purchase if i see something in a sale or a discount store- I've got so much polish my bf had to build me a shelf in the bedroom with 4 teirs to display them, he works at a salon supplies wholesalers so i got an end of line spinning display stand too for the rest if my collection, so the duff polishes lurk on the very bottom of that on the 'rejects shelf' lol great video :)

back in high school I used to have about 300 bottles off polish, tons of nail wheels where I practiced nail art, so many nail tools etc. Your channel is firing up that love for nails I have even years later

You should always wear base coat under every manicure! It helps the polish last longer and it protects from staining :) Sadly that one stained even with base coat!
@@KelliMarissa I never grew up wearing base coat. I heard people did when I was in college. I've tried it but never saw much of a difference to keep it as a habit. Plus, I never painted my nails much. This year I've been painting them more. Would hardener work as a base coat? Sally Hansen's Good kind pure one.

BTW, AmazonOn-AmazonOff is teal and thus one of my favourite colours. You can wear it over a light coat of Elmer's glue and it won't stain, plus I think Zoya actually makes an anti-stain treatment now that you can wear under colours that tend to stain.
Oh, and maybe OPI wanted to just make a bad pineapple party. Who knows? It's hideous--you're right.

Hey Carla! Good to know this must be a bad bottle. Unfortunately I'm not so much a fan of the Magical or Ultra ones in general, the original ones that came out stole my heart and I'm glad they're reintroducing that line (the new ones are awesome!)
Kelli do you have or can you show us how you hold your hands and brush painting at the same time. It looks so much easier and more comfortable the way you do it. Some of us didn't have the luxury of growing up doing it.
+thomas smith hey Thomas! You've got nothing to worry about, it gets SO much easier the more you do it. To be honest, I never painted my own nails before college haha, I remember I tried once and my mom laughed at me. So I always made her or friends do it. It took me a couple months to get comfortable with my own method of painting and honestly, everyone prefers to hold their hand differently while painting. I've got an older video about how to paint your nails and I think you might get a glimpse of how I hold the brush in that, but my personal preference is to lay my hand flat on a surface, rest my painting hand on my pinky, and paint very slowly!

Amazon Amazoff? Thanks for the hint! Last week I grabbed Color Club's "Spell It Out" from a discount basket for $2. It's a holographic version of that pretty blue-green OPI. In three days it stained my nails so badly that a sheer pink I have on now looks peach. I had on two layers of basecoat too. Sad.
Oh man that sounds awful! There's nothing worse than a staining polish. I find it's always those teal greens too!

Lol, I bought Pineapples have Peelings too because it was different. I quickly realized it was vomit inducing, and threw it away. Your live swatch actually makes it look pretty though 😂 It broke my heart just a little bit to see Zoyas on your list...my fave brand. I actually like Noir, but I do get exactly what you mean about about the weird chunkiness in the matte jelly formula. Have you tried the Pixie Dusts that came out in the Seashells collection last year? Zooey and Bay and Cece and Tilly and Levi are BEEUTIFUUL 😍 I haven't tried Linds.

And that sweater party polish is ugly too. I tried it before and it's awful. Ciate is terrible. I've tried several of their polishes and returned every single one of them. Ciate and Butter London are two high end brands that suck.

I'm not an expert, but I think your mic is too far away from you and turned up too high- it's picking up all the sound in the room instead of just a clean recording of your voice. You could try putting it closer and turning it down a little, or try a lav mic (little one that clips to your shirt) - or get a sound blocker to sit your mic in so it's focused on the direction of your voice? Or see if there's a program you can use to filter out the ambient sound, possibly?

Aaaaand now I've watched it- I agree with you on all your choices (including that they're probably someone's favourite and beautiful on their hands :D ) and I laughed when you said you never use that green cause it stains, because I was in the middle of doing a double stamped mani, stamping with a green I never use cause it once turned my entire fingertip and nail wicked-witch green for a few days :D I have it on top of several layers of china glaze, base and top coat, so I feel a bit safer using it to stamp :D

I just bought Amazon Amazoff. Love it but was shocked all my hands were green after taking it off! Glad it’s not just me. Stayed on the skin for about 12 plus hours. Good job it was mid week and not weekend. I use a peel off base coat with it now.

Have you ever seen 'To Peach His Own'' by KB Shimmer? It's very similar to Pineapples Have Peelings Too, but its in this dreadful nudey peach base that takes forever to get opaque.

My favourite polish types are the Rimmel 60 seconds Super Shine, Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Extreme Wear, and Colour by TBN (and TBN are crazy cheap too, but still great quality). Can recommend them all.

3:20 i have a blue sally hansen argan oil polish that i truly love, but it stains worse than any other color and removes like the brightest red (aka pigment everywhere and requires twice the amt of clean up)

i have a Nails Inc polish called 'Warwick Way' that's a vivid teal and it stained through THREE COATS OF BASE COAT!!!! my nails had a blue shade to them for way too long. i only keep my duff polishes so i know not to accidentally re-purchase if i see something in a sale or a discount store- I've got so much polish my bf had to build me a shelf in the bedroom with 4 teirs to display them, he works at a salon supplies wholesalers so i got an end of line spinning display stand too for the rest if my collection, so the duff polishes lurk on the very bottom of that on the 'rejects shelf' lol great video :)

I love all the pixie dust polishes but I always top coat them. I love the glitteriness of them but hate texture so topcoat is a must for me with them.
back in high school I used to have about 300 bottles off polish, tons of nail wheels where I practiced nail art, so many nail tools etc. Your channel is firing up that love for nails I have even years later

The worst nail polish I've ever bought was from Hot Topic. Its purple with blue glitter. The glitter is very similar to the Opi one you mentioned.

You should always wear base coat under every manicure! It helps the polish last longer and it protects from staining :) Sadly that one stained even with base coat!
@@KelliMarissa I never grew up wearing base coat. I heard people did when I was in college. I've tried it but never saw much of a difference to keep it as a habit. Plus, I never painted my nails much. This year I've been painting them more. Would hardener work as a base coat? Sally Hansen's Good kind pure one.
There are a couple of colors from Julep that I love, but they take way longer than the average polish to dry.
