This video caused me to reflect, my father was a career AF pilot last aircraft he commanded was KC-135A, it was his favorite of the tankers and bombers that he flew. Miss my hero, my dad Lt. Col E. C. Burton.
My Son is a brand new LT Blackhawk Pilot today, 11/18/2024. We head down to Ft. Rucker on 12/20 to move him home. He will be flying out of Whitman AFB for the MO National Guard. Your 22 years went by in a flash. Thank you for your service. Enjoy the family & the joy of farming/ranching.
Thank you for your service and sharing your last flight. My hat goes off to you. My wife's uncle was a retired Colonel with over 24K logged hours. He started with the Army Air Corp in 1945 and lied about his age to enter the war as a fighter pilot. He flew through Korean war where the USAF changed him to helicopters. He also flew through the beginning of Vietnam. He later opened his own helicopter flight school and flew for years for "Carson Helicopters." Three war vet. My dad was a retired USAF vet. Our son is currently active USAF with close to 10 years under his belt. Watching your video brought back MANY memories and tears to my eyes. Best of luck on the farm and God Bless you.
From former WV Air National Guard member, I want to thank you for all your years of service and dedication to our nation and to flight safety. I drive a tractor trailer for Walmart now in your area and love KLCK and that area. Congratulations on your retirement.
Thanks for your dedicated service to our free country and happy retirement! We need more people like you!! Best of luck on the next phase of your life! God Bless You
Rod, it was a bittersweet day I am sure. Turning into that final downwind, lining up with the runway and pulling up full stop. I was not there, but I saw so many get feet dry on that final flight, in my years of service. It I am sure was a day full of pride and emotion for you, your family, crew, squadron and wing. Some would say it was a hard decision you had to make, but I know, it wasn't hard at all. They say once you have flight in your blood, its all you want. But I would argue with them, that once you have farming in your blood and you love it, thats all you want. Carry on that legacy of feeding America and the world. I would have liked to have known it was your final ahead of time, I would have watched on ADSB. Now, your in the world of all of us, now your a PFC. I hope the farm videos do not end. I am glad your staying on as a civilian instructor with the Guard. Thank you for your service, hand salute, 'merica
Are you a mind reader? Because, you nailed my emotions on that day on the head! I will miss flying for sure! Maybe after I get the kids out of the house and onto their journey in life, I will get a small plane. Those things are just so darn expensive though! Thank you for the comment! Well said!
Thank you for your service to our nation for the last 22 years God bless you and your family. Keep making the videos now that you have more free time 🇺🇸
Congratulations, Rod, on your retirement. Thanks for your service, sir. Glad you’re taking on the responsibility of the farm and I’ll be looking forward to more farming videos. I was happy with whatever you filmed as I’m a granddaughter of farmers on both sides of my family and my dad served in the Army and my brother-in-law served in the Air Force. My favorite plane is a C-130 and has been ever since my brother-in-law, who was a mechanic for the C-130, got clearance to give my family a tour of the plane he was working on. This happened 25-28 years ago and I still get a thrill when I see a C-130 at the National Museum of the Air Force at Wright Patterson AFB.
Thank you for 22 years of standing in the gap. The landing I would call butter. Just because you hung up your spurs on one side you got a new pair on the other, when you think about your you-tube crew carry us along on the farming side. I got a feeling most of us where watching for the flying and the farming. blue sky and tailwinds.
First time viewer. Growing up as a Nebraska farm girl with an uncle who became a pilot and an aeronautical engineer for NASA at Ames in San Jose which turned me into a lifelong av geek, the video pushed a lot of good buttons for me. The farming clips show how technical it has become and that it takes a very smart, detail oriented person with mechanical aptitude to be successful at it, similar to being a pilot! A couple less zeros for the price of equipment though. I wish the general public had more appreciation for what all goes into farming. Your well produced videos could make a difference in that regard. Happy "retirement" and thank you for your service!
I’m a Missouri farmer that lives near Whiteman AFB and look on with great pride and admiration when I see/hear the sound of jet powered freedom overhead. A10,B2,T38,C130 most commonly. I teared up when worn these boots played. I have greatly enjoyed all your videos and will continue to watch. Thank you for your service.
All good thing must come to an end, no matter the reasons and how bittersweet it is. I seperated 39 years ago and I still miss the USAF to this day. Thank you Rod for letting us ride along. It was a blast!
Congratulations Sir. Thank you for 22 years of service. Sorry to see you take the pickel suit off for the last time. I enjoy all the flying videos you did for us. Hope you still do farming videos.
My son is a boomer in the 134th ARW at McGhee Tyson AB in Knoxville so watching your videos was a lot of fun. It gave me a lot of insight into what he does.
Congratulations and thank you for your service! I sure hope you continue to share farming videos with us all but totally understand if you can't. Most people don't realize the time and effort it takes to create a 10 minute video. Anyway thanks for bringing us along when you're able to do so.

Congrats on your bittersweet Fini-flight. Nice to see you highlight what was once the Premier C-17 Wing. Flying across the farm was cool. If you never grow up you don’t have to adult.

Thank you for your service and dedication. I loved watching your flying videos because it reminded me of my dad who was a flight engineer in the USAF . I was born at the base when it was Lockborn AFB and we spent most of our time at Dover AFB. I enjoyed being an Air Force brat of thirteen years. I bet it was hard having two passions in life and making that hard decision.
