Last week has been crazy for Techland as the community was really furious because of an image circulating online that shows that Tencent might be planning to turn Dying Light 2 Stay Human into a live service game.
So is the rumour true ? What is the reality behind this image & claim.

@@Ak-6969 i disagree, dying light 1 was the blueprint and at his time the best zombie game made yes and the following was the strongest expansion possible, but dying light 2 who had a disastrous launch managed to come back as an even better game now, EXCEPT for the weak storyline that they cant change, the rest (parkour, combat, end game content, variety of weapons etc) is undeniably superior now to the first game

I don't think so, the two stuff were requested by community, and due DL2 is built in different engine than DL1, you can't just passing files from one to the other, moders tryed and they didn't make it, not at all, I mean roaming volatile was funny to play but buged as sh1t and even more messy than actual roaming volatiles.
Man, I put over 400 hours into this game and it just feels like Techland is putting such little effort into the game. Tower Raid being time limited for now, no info on the DLC, and Tencent. It’s so frustrating with how consistent and fresh DL1 felt.

got hyped in 2018, it was for me one of the bestest release at that time, then disappointed so bad when i played the "game" whe it's released and i know what talking about, got almost 500hr on this "game" and damn I losed my time on that. it's very sad and depressing to say that but I have absolutly ZERO hope in that "game" and I feel very sorry for the devs team. The game could have been a absolute banger. Yes I gonna say it : DL 1 is better at any point, The OG was goated.
I have ~600 h on dl2 and on dl1 more. I was excited also for dl2 where i watched the trailer before release. When i played dl2 it was unfortunately very very dissapointing. While developing dl2 there were trouble under the employees and superior. Some of them left the company. Dl2 looks still not a polished game like dl1 and dl1 will stay as a masterpiece. I dont think they will make a dl3 and if they will make one, i dont think that will be like the first one
Before I was realy excited about DLC2, but without any updates, and with how bad the story is in the main game I lost interest. I honestly only look for community stuff, E3 project and Renaissance.

I think we all loved techland for their hard work and love for their IPs . The way they communicated with their community and listened to the best of feedback. Tencent seems to already be ruining what we loved about techland . I love dl2 so damn much but I have to agree and say that if they keep in the direction they are going, this game and community will ultimately just disappear. They’re becoming so out of touch man. Give us the good ole techland back.

@@CraneOnaKranenot really, when people say "the old Techland" they seem to refer to a single point in time when they first heard about DL1 and forget just how much marketing bullshit happened during the build up to its release.
We have the same Techland that made DL1 and Dead Island, it's just that DL1 (despite being hated at its launch) is the exception to what most of their games are.

I have a question. After getting "Marian shoes" you can go to the carnage hall and get 1 hit weapons. When he jumps around the corner to get here, he ends up in the parking lot. There is a lot of military med in the parking lot. Also, since there are c4s on the columns, could this be some sort of easter egg?
In general, you could guess from the preview what it would be about, so I'm not even disappointed.
The only thing I don't quite understand is that players don't want the game to turn into a service, but at the same time they demand that some content be released like... like in GaaS.
And if there is no content, then the game will turn into what it has always been - a story-driven solo game.
The community won't tolerate the game becoming a service, but if the game doesn't become a service, the community will cease to exist...

I think we all want a finished, polished, solo and coop game experience. The game's story felt rushed, and many mechanics of the game were in an unfinished state, and it took them 2 years to get the game to where it is now, and it still feels a bit unfinished... They have to work on improving the base game, not adding new content =)
@@EricPlayZ132 I found the game's plot more complex and interesting than the banal and straightforward plot of DL1. And I still play the activities that the game provides in endgame, if I'm in the mood to play DL2.
At the same time, I know many people who played DL2 once, precisely as a story game, and moved on. They liked the game, but they don't perceive it as something more and don't understand what we all want from it.
After so many years, I also stopped understanding the community :/

@@UnrealMacKay From my perspective: dropping into random lobbies for some dl1 coop still feels pretty fun, meanwhile dl2 feels like a "16x the detail" scenario where everything is just a chore despite the improved parkour and combat being major steps up. DL1 has grindy aspects too, but a lot of them felt funner. Like, I'd rather do a parkour challenge and get a sick speed boost knife than kill 10X bolters with takedowns to get stupid currency I can redeem for a weapon gacha. Those kind of endgame grinds are just tedious, and there's not much else to do I feel.

I completely agree, at the beginning of the year my frequency of videos on Dying Light 2 was 2 - 3 videos per week, currently I can only post 1 every 2 weeks, the reasons, lack of content, and little motivation to record and play the game itself, in the last 4 months I simply got completely discouraged from the game, making Dying Light 2 videos stopped being something fun and became an obligation. I just keep posting some DL2 videos so I don't abandon the DL2 community that I love so much

I've never EVER seen a company taking so long to release a single story dlc, its amusing to me how incompetant techland truly is.
I really hope that techland can recover from this by releasing dlc2 because i enjoy playing this game and i prefer it not dying yet i would love to see this game alive during the future
This is the thing with tencent they usually accquire the parental companies of a single popular game and copy paste the games assets into a renamed Chinese version of the game and realese it ,and us fans and even the creator devs will not do anything about this. Fistly they will fu*k up the original game then make a so called better version of it.

The first time setting foot in Haran the feeling was something I can't explain
But the first time in Villedor was nothing special I felt underwhelmed and kinda sad that it wasn't as good or at least something special in it's own way.

All they needed to do was expand into the city outside of Harran, it was literally already there story wise and lore wise with the walls if they wanted a city map they could’ve done just that, leave Harran in or say it’s been destroyed by a nuke and keep the same atmosphere and air of the game

What also makes me mad is that there are no events anymore. Also they rejected over 100 community ideas that I gave them and deleted 70% of the ideas from their website.

I spent extra money to basically preorder dlc 2, and we don’t even have an idea of when we can even expect a release date. I’ve had so much fun playing the game since it came out, but there is just no more content. I’ve gotten max level, I’ve gotten every trophy, I’ve done everything there it to possibly do and earn in the main game and dlc, every parkour and combat challenge, maxed out the huntress, guy with the guns, and the nightrunner dude and bought all their stuff. There’s just nothing to do in the game anymore. If the game dies, which it most likely will at this rate, it’s just due to Techland’s incompetence tbh

@BestGamerAli Alright, cool, I just thought I should mention it. I should let you know that the first game is pretty old and janky, but it's still worth checking out, in my opinion.
It also has a pretty decent modding scene. And it's also 100% free, not even any microtransactions.

The only thing that will save DL2 is DLC 2. If that sucks, the game is finished. I think Techland knows this, and that's why it's taking them forever.
DL1 remastered needs to come out soon as well.
Techland made a mess of DL2, the first one is soooo much better, if they can remaster DL1 with DL2's engine, it would be awesome, so, it's all about polishing the turd for DL2.

P.s. Если игра станет живым сервисом, но при этом не скатится до уровня "Pay to Play" игр, то я, собственно, буду и не против. Главное, чтобы разработчики продолжали стараться над игрой, продолжали делать её только лучше. Я не вижу ничего плохого в дополнительных источниках дохода, если они не сильно влияют на геймплей в худшую сторону.
А ещё было бы довольно интересно увидеть настоящий мультиплеер со своими серверами в Dying Light 2. Хотя это слишком сильно отходит от изначальной концепции, но так хотя бы будет оправдана покупка скинов. Тем, кому такое не по нраву, продолжат играть в одиночной или кооперативной игре, другие же будут получать новые эмоции и впечатления. И пусть это вероятнее всего не добавят, но поразмыслить над этим довольно интересно

Кроме того, да, победа с оплатой 2 убьет эту игру, я надеюсь, что этого никогда не произойдет.
Основная проблема здесь в том, что после DLC 2 они могут добавить многопользовательский режим, и тогда этот живой сервис может вызвать большие проблемы.
Либо это будет хорошо и принесет пользу игре, либо убьет франшизу так же, как умерли другие игры с живым сервисом.

В таком случае я в очередной раз пересмотрю те самые видео с E3, снова пройду Dying Light 1 и где-нибудь на окраине Харрана, смотря на закат, буду тихонечко плакать...
Но мне всё равно хочется верить, что Techland знают своё дело, что они смогут сделать из игры шедевр, который по-своему цепляет, хоть и верится с трудом
Они ничего не могут сделать были DL1 Hellraid + Bad blood дерьмо.
Throw in some Bozak like challenges and trials in the tower raid, maybe even Bozak themed. Each floor would operate similar like it did in the beta, each floor has a different trial, a bunch of floors with a bunch of different trial combos. Not just a big GRE facility you run up instead of down.

Looking at how Techland is burying itself, I would recommend that they release a normal DLC containing at least some of the stripped-down content that should have been so that fans of the series would not dance on Techland's grave, after another disgrace, which I think will happen with the release of the DLC

That's why I'll prefer E3 version. I hope e3 definitive mod releases.
It’s a shame what’s we are never going to get a DLC that talks about what happened to Kyle Crane that could’ve helped save this game
Unofficial Dev Tools are still progressing for all the Dead Island and Dying Light games. Should be out here in the next few months and then the community can add plenty of content to the games to help keep them alive =) hopefully it'll help, not sure much can be done or said for this title in the long run but I appreciate that the devs did what they could to save it. Not their fault they were acquired, still all the love to the devs and designers at Techland. Hope they have a really good on-site coffee machine now that they are all back in-office
Totally agree with your comments about the dlc styles not fitting the game at all.
The involvement with tencent now explains a whole bunch of bizarre choices they’ve made.
I liked DL2 and was glad to see that they made some improvements over the years but it’s clear since launch that corporate gaming structure is killing creativity and excellence in games.

no Avellone, no Elyseum ( and other 4 regions/ zones), no decent story (the original story produced by avellone is way superior), no map overraul (this game NEEDS a complete map overraul, the map of alpha is much more superior in all aspects .it´s a shame for techland, the players don´t deserve this, the current state of this game is actually worse than the 2018 trailer and 2016/2017 alpha.
So basically if it goes full live service game, that means that i cant get my money back from purchasing the game?

I know they’re concentrating on the DLC and the tail raid but come on at least release an event now and then because the last event we had was what Christmas time well you could technically say Easter but I wouldn’t really cost that as an event because that was absolutely nothing

I’ve kinda lost all hope and dimmed my expectations to such a degree it’s saddening. It’s been the same thing for the past few years, Techland does something ok, then good, then really good, then some bad or not enough, then just a long hiatus of nothing.

I've followed Dying Light for so long and its just sad to see how we went from one of the greatest zombie games ever made to where we are now. I actually really enjoyed my 170 hour play through of DL2 but just gave up on it in a way I never did with DL. The game already feels too much like a live service game which has really put me off, so for it to go even further down the rabbit hole would kill it for me. I'm sad to say at this point I've started not to care about the massive story expansion, and that's something I never thought I would say or think of a Techland expansion after The Following.
I want this game to keep getting more content in the future this game and Dying Light 1 are my childhood! And I want more guns give us a LMG, Sniper, and attachments like Suppressors, extended mags and optics. Let them cook!
You would be surprised to know that many live service games die and only few rare ones succeed.

Honestly After they rejected the idea of customizing Aiden hair from pilgrim outpost because It was deemed to costly and with no profit im really starting to think we should be worried and with out too much Hope for the future of the game and i Say that as a person Who really liked It and believe in It till today
There’s no way they make it live service. If they do the game will completely die and get negative reviews instantly guaranteed.
If they do it we should all just quit. If we quit they might change it.
"Those features should be since day 1" is one of the dumbest arguments you can make. Gamedev is managing resources, time and focusing on priorities. You can't just have everything 2 years earlier

@Duuude 8/10 runs fine sometimes there hiccups but its not bad even with slight control drift i can do pretty much anything fine
Compared to next-gen, 3/10, as a standalone game on last-gen I'd say 5/10.

I lost 5 tower raids on nightmare difficulty just because of a bug that doesn't spawn zombies just before the red volatile boss
