The long way round SWAZILAND [S5 - Eps. 10]

- In this episode I am riding from Kaapsche Hoop in South Africa to Pongola. The most logical and interesting route would be to ride straight through Swaziland. However, it means finding clinics, getting two covid tests and waiting several days for results. On top of that, Swaziland is a very small country and you can't really count on borders to remain open nowadays anymore. I don't want to risk getting stuck in a very small country! So, I'll just have to come back to Swaziland another time, and for now... ride the loooong way around Swaziland...

The guy in the Toyota who showed you where the lodge is , is a friend. He has the Yamaha dealeship. In Pongola. Gert Annandale. Nice guy. He knows the area very well. If you want to know where to go and explore ect. Northern KZN is beautiifull. Hope you will go to St.Lucia . Its a beautifull coastal town.

Small world!
Please thank him for us for being so kind & helping "our" Noraly !
Wherever she dines it's clear it's not America
He deserved a dinner date with Noraly :))
From the Netherlands to South Africa for a haircut! New world's record!
Brilliant, Noraly. Seeing just normal driving and events as interesting as anything. I think you worry too much about having to film exciting adventures. The routine episodes are interesting enough for your true fans.
I agree, anything to get our "Itchy" fix
I concur! Keep 'em coming!
I second that, was totally in the zone again while Noraly does the driving. Total fan here
I loved the atop for the haircut. Taking care of everyday mundane necessities is interesting too. 🤔
well said

My experience: "Are you lost? no. Get lost! "
Thanks for showing me there's a flip side to people :)
There is never ,"nothing to see" we love coming along for the ride.
The best part is just sitting on Noraly's handlebars seeing the world. There's always something to see just Cruzin along.
“Nothing to see” is hardly adequate. These videos are wonderful, especially if , like me, your riding days are long past. RUclips allows me to ride the best bikes in the most beautiful places with the most wonderful people anywhere. Enjoy the ride, forever!
I see several messages suggesting you visit the Cape for its beauty. Whilst the Cape is beautiful that statement implies that the rest of the country is not beautiful. The beauty of South Africa is that every province is equally or more beautiful in its own way. KZN has the beauty of greenery, beach, midlands and mountains, The Transkei has unspoiled natural beauty and a rugged coastline. Eastern Cape has mountain ranges you cannot miss. Karoo has dry wide open vistas. Northern Cape has the Kalahari. Free State has flat open spaces and the friendliest farmers. Don’t fall into the trap of most tourists to South Africa experiencing an airport in Gauteng, Kruger Park and Cape Town. The whole of South Africa is spectacular, beautiful and friendly.
Hi from south-west of France! I became so addict to yours videos, Basanti, Dhanno, Ronin and now Savannah! Through your eyes, I discover areas of the world in a so professionnal and so passionate way, largely better than TV channels! Thanks a lot, and take care of you!
Those are my thoughts, also, Luc.
Moi pareil !!!!! Je me suis remise a la moto grâce à Norali. Comment ne pas l'adorer ??????
@@marie-pascaleleonetti1555 C'est vrai. Je suis aussi très surpris par sa simplicité. Elle est vraiment très sympa!!

Just crazy how this channel made me establish a kind of life goal I never tought I would have. At the moment saving to get my first bike.
Best of luck, keep saving. You will love riding and the adventures you will make. My best wishes to you.
Yep im thinkin the same, but I'm gonna start in north sweden,so much here that I haven't seen yet that you cant do with a car

I never considered South Africa as a place to visit but you're changing my mind. Beautiful place.
i went there and it was great never had a problem ,,,
Exactly i thought South Africa would be very dry but it contains very scenic drive ways ... These 10 episodes changed my mind. Added South Africa to my bucket list
South Africa is great... super country do visit it
I hope that she went to (or drives to) Cape Town. Because that place is really out of this world!! Seeing the Table Mountains was one of the most impressive events I have ever experienced in my life. :))
Like anywhere else, In the wrong place at the wrong time, Personally I would be more nervous travelling as a single women in Australia or GB come to think of it!!!
Wow, South Africa is so wonderfully scenic.
Pongola is my hometown, welcome 😁
Tell me what that prison fence around the accommodation is for. It looks like camping could mean certain death!
It's burglar defence. I have not been to SA yet, but not the only country/region where it is common. You can see it in her previous two stops too, by the way.
You should invite her to lunch or dinner in your home
What's not to like - great hair. Compulsive viewing - keep it up. Dutch national treasure.
God bless the good man who showed you way to stay.
Good old Afrikaner hospitality
I'd say Noraly added one more 'itchyboot' fan to her ever-growing empire. What a top bloke !
As a frequent visitor to South Africa, I am constantly surprised at how being polite and hospitable is not merely requested but demanded in the culture. It was always very nice.
That Afrikaans guy that helped you ( of course he finds you special ) is concerned for you safety and I vouch for them and I fought a war with them
What a kind man 😊 Going as far as escorting you 🔥🙏🏽👏🏽
I’m quite impressed with South Africa, the scenery is great.👍🇬🇧
I'm hoping she heads down through the Drakensburg mountains. To me that's the most beautiful part of SA
It's beautiful. But wait for the coast and then Cape Town
Scenery is some of the best in the world! So is the crime , and when it goes wrong you usually pay with your life .
@@c-teamtrading9690 What absolute crap. usually? No dude, not true at all. Stop spreading BS on this lady's inspiring channel.

Love how she says about to drive through nothing that interesting and proceeds to drive in such breathe taking landscape! Haha 😍😍🏍
And then plays the video 20 x faster and we can't see anythibg.. That's a great pity
I was sad that she didn't add some of the breathtaking scenery of some of her journey through the plantations. I can reel that route in my mind, even though I've not been that way for a decade.
@@craigsymington5401 i was also dissapointed400+ km n south africa the is so much to see, but it seems like noraly only shows us what she"s interested in
Noraly, you find the most helpful people wherever you go. I’m always praying for your safety.
One of the things that I appreciate from Noraly is her willingness to share parts of her rides that aren't perfect. Noraly didn't find the hairdresser immediately; she had to double back to find it. Noraly, you are amazing!
I must say South Africa is such a beautiful country. Thanks for having us with you :)
beuatiful land but not the people in it
@@mohnish7653 There are plenty of amazing people there !
What a beautiful country 😍
Hi Noraly love your channel so interesting and the sense of adventure... I had to laugh at you telling the hadidas to shh. Just watched series 7 so exciting you make me want to go out and explore the world.
Everybody seems so relaxed and laid back, and surprisingly helpful
We are good like that here ;-) Seriously I think that is true everywhere in the world. Helps to be polite.
Your new cut looks fabulous. South Africa is quite beautiful. Keep shining your LIGHT NORALY. 💖🙏😁🕊️
What a beautiful country! The blue sky with puffy white clouds makes the video so inviting.
Nice comments all, cheers from Arizona!! Been a fan since late Season 1 - lots of channels with riders filming around the world but what makes Noraly unique is her explanations, courage and most of all her endless optimism, very addicting in these troubling times.
You are a great traveler who talks kindly with children and animals wherever you go on this planet at any time.
Thanks Noraly, as long as you don't show new videos I'll watch the "old ones". LG from Germany
Noraly South Africans are super friendly and always up for bit of banter - Would be good to see more of that in the videos. Love this series, you’re making me homesick. My last trip got cancelled because of Covid but this is helping.
The prison fencing around the accommodation is clearly for serious protection. Everything has high fences what happens when night comes?
@@daymaker5460 ...........the dogs are let loose !
From the little I've seen the people are nice. But check out the walls, fences and locks. Then try to tell me it's save and peaceful. I'm not buying. The evidence says otherwise.
@@mikeparkerson1497 nobody said it’s safe and peaceful. There’s a reason I live in England now. It’s going to take decades to create financial equality in South Africa but I’m hopeful they will. As a tourist as long as you are sensible and keep your wits about you it’s no more dangerous than America. Like everywhere, it’s the few that spoil it for the many but that doesn’t take away how beautiful the majority are.
@@parthasur6018 Agree!... the interactions are something Noraly should be doing ( even talking to the hairdresser in the salon would have added a great deal of understanding to the way people are living in that town ) so absolutely yes, the videos need that inclusion.
Ps I suppose one of the reasons why she isn’t doing that may be issues related to her personal security, but if talking with white Afrikaners, she would be very safe.
Amazing scenery. And what lovely people. Everyone seems so friendly and helpful. S.A. defo on my top 5 places to visit list!
I miss the parts when you stop for lunch. And what your having for dinner.
Haha yep same, and accomodation :D
yep, same.. and breakfasts ... °_°
How many of us subscribed, all because of her first seasons intro? The time, what's fir breakfast, and where were going?
me too
Noraly some of us are big time "foodies" so we do enjoy seeing a nice meal once in awhile. Love to see what other countries serve up. Keep on truckin'!
This took my breath away!!! Beautiful!!!
I want to spend a few years of my life in South Africa now
Just another day in the life of Itchy Boots, we all wish!
Aaw you went to my hometown Pongola! Yay.
Only came across this channel yesterday and I’m so hooked. Great content! 🙌🏾
This was so awesome!! South Africa truly is stunning. If you're ever keen on seeing it from the sky, let me know! I'd love to take you on a flying adventure! x
I also watched all your flying adventures. You people from the Netherlands are really putting South Africa on the map.
Hey Bambi, heard of Mark Hensman? How about you get a flight with him? He's the Unlimited Aerobatics champion and if you like that kind of thing a flight with him might make great content. I know him from Zimbabwe and he taught me how to fly gliders, amongst other instructors. He's the most talented pilot I've ever known.
Bambi, you enjoy this channel too? Nice to see you here too. You guys could have spoken in your native language at 8000feet msl. Regards from Port Elizabeth
p.s. I'm delighted I found your channel, Bambi/Rosita. You and Noraly are fantastic RUclipsrs and even more so being Dutch.
I really like the scenery of Pongola. It must be very cool to live in there
"there is nothing to see on the way to pungola". procides to drive through majestic south african scenery.
Well, having that kind of environment around you all the time raises the bar, I guess.
The scenery is not what I expected to see. I thought I'd see more savannah and less woodland. Of course she has spent more time in cities than open country. Maybe South Africa isn't on Planet Earth....
Kaapse Hoop is such a quaint town with beautiful vistas. Was hoping to see some local exploration.
I am hooked...
Can't stop having a smile hearing you say at 10:20-10:30 : "I think I memorised the directions, get out and turn left". After that: you got out and turned right.......must be the thoughts of an adventurer.

Hi Noraly. That noisy birds is called a Hadida. A long standing joke in SA is that the Hadida is so noisy because they are scared of heights. 😅😅😅😅 Godspeed.

I just watched your Zoom interview with Baldy. You talked about not really knowing why people subscribed. As I mentioned before in early comments I can say that I'm attracted to watching every episode because of the fact that you are exploring the world in the way I would if I'd ever followed that path. You are open to everything and everybody. I like your consistent format. But most of all it is such an amazing way to see all the world and its people. We learn to understand each other better with knowledge of each other and the worlds other people life in. Your sharing of your adventures is a valuable educational tool. Thank you for enhancing my life.
As a South African and recent follower am loving this series thank you
Good attention to the mirror with that truck coming up hard and fast behind you! We all need to remind ourselves to be vigilant in that manner.
Beautiful ❤ omg south africa is like heaven on 🌎
Really? Everything seems to be behind walls and locked/security gates. Does have great scenery though. Beautiful.
We have a beautiful country yes, the problem is the government.. They are corrupt as hell!
Looking forward to seeing you explore my home province, Kwazulu Natal...some of the best scenery in the world!
Yikes! A geologist skipping the Barberton Supergroup, some of the very oldest rocks to be found anywhere on the planet! There's a good museum in Barberton as well.
If you are swinging by Vryheid, try Petra's Country Guesthouse. The Mr 'Petra' has a cool personal museum with lots of battlefield curios and they are just lovely people - plus chickens, dogs, and the rest!
And we have the Bushveld Igneous to the North West as well! Also of immense interest to a Geologist 🙂

Just like the old videos; Time, Map and Let's Go! That has been missed in previous videos...Only thing missing is the Breakfast!
You have a gift for making boring rides entertaining with your commentary. My wife and I are enjoying coming on the ride with you.👍
Hi from East London, way south of where you find yourself right now. Try make your way to the Jozini Dam, near Mkuze, not far from Pongola...that will blow your mind. We're so pleased you are putting South Africa on the world adventure stage...
So am I. Despite the walled-in houses in the cities and the strange absence of foot traffic where she's been sleeping, I am liking the scenery and the helpful people. A little contradictory though. Not at all what I'm used to in Colorado. But...things are changing radically here.
Yes my Heart smile, when I see this, you ride and show us, beautyful Landscape / Area 😊

One can see why the Dutch found South Africa interesting hundreds of years ago. Thanks for bringing it to life so colorfully.
my Friday just got a lot better, thanks for taking us with you, still in lockdown in the UK hope to be out soon.
I enjoyed it, thanks, it's an adventure !! A neighbour of mine says, "A bad day here on the farm is better than the best day in an office !" Thanx for the amazing video! Hope you felt welcome in our country, the police and traffic police in general aren't super friendly, but everyone else usually welcomes guests from other countries with open arms.
So, Noraly went all the way to South Africa to get a hair cut. That would be a good season title. 🤩
Adding the hair dresser was neat. It shows how life...just life. Take it all in stride.
Hi Noraly, my family and I have been following you from last year. It is because of you that I have now started with motorbike lessons with my family. Thank you for your videos. Approx 200km to the west of Pongola is the town of Utrecht named after your home in the Netherlands. Was named so due to the Dutch settlers in the region.
Not to mention Amsterdam just a little bit further north.
@David Rosenberg What does that have to do with the names of the town's in the nearby area?
@David Rosenberg I'm not arguing that fact. I'm just confused as to why that comment was added to our discussion. It was very off topic.
Thats a very blue sky with white fluffy clouds!! So crisp & fresh. Refreshing indeed.
Fantastic scenery. Compared to what we have seen over the past twelve months it's absolutely breathtaking. Alan.

8:59 it's funny to see you turn around just like him :)
Reminded me of when we were in Peje in Kosovo. We could not find our hotel, so stopped and asked a policeman, who spoke a little English. Within minutes we were surrounded by lots of people all trying to help us. At this point the policeman waved his hands, walked over to a car and spoke to the driver. He came back and indicated for us to follow the car. The driver got us to our hotel about 3 kms away, then gave us a cheery wave before he drove off. Brilliant.
Reminded me of Kosovo too, in Sept 90,with petrol rationing (? fuel grade), they scooted me up the queue (Amway additive), another nice policeman Pec maybe 😂 Hair was low priority!
Noraly, I am convinced that you made the perfect choice in Savanna. The road conditions vary so much, it is nice to have a light and nimble motorcycle! Beautiful video as always! Be safe in your travels!
There she is!! 400 km's dirt road, tarmac, great scenery. Glad you didn't fall in the huge pot hole. Always nice seeing you early in the morning... this time putting your ear plugs and helmet on with music. Flowing with the spped up ride, music, watching the sky... Love it... tea, hair cut now on with the helmet. What I did miss a little your interaction with the people at the gas station, dive lodge, hair dresser.... only got the cop. Maybe the others had nothing interesting to say... remember there was 400kms to cover with Savanah..... Just talking to myself... Have a good stay, drive careful, be safe....
