Waldenburgerbahn (WB) (1/2) (Apr 18, 2024)

The Waldenburgerbahn (WB) is a 13 km narrow gauge railway line which has linked Liestal to Waldenburg in the canton of Basel-Landschaft in Switzerland since 1880 🇨🇭
The line was created with a gauge of 750 mm in order to limit its impact on the valley road as much as possible.
In 2016, the Waldenburgerbahn merged with the Baselland Transport (BLT) network, becoming Line 19 of its network.
After more than two years of total reconstruction work on the line (new gauge of 1000 mm, modernization and updating to the latest standards), the Waldenburgerbahn was returned to service in 2022.
The new rolling stock now consists of 10 Stadler Tramlink Be 6/8 trainsets.
In 2020, the old 750 mm gauge rolling stock was sold to the Schwarzgranbahn, Čiernohronská železnica (ČHŽ) in Slovakia.

The old 0.75 cm rolling stocks of the Waldenburgerbahn have been sent to Čierny Balog (Slovakia) to run on the NGO Čierny Hron Railway.
