It literally isn't.
I'm a gun owner and supporter of the actual 2nd amendment, not the misled, Republican 2nd amendment. There is no use for an AR15, other than killing human beings, there is much better home defense and hunting options that are actually more affordable. A gun that is legal should also be able to be considered a "tool" for a task other than killing humans. An assault rifle is more dangerous bc it is shortened for urban combat. You can't swing a full size hunting rifle around in a small space very easily, that's why those are more dangerous, they make it easier to use in a crowded, urban, environment, and smaller so you can conceal this weapon as well. They try to pretend there is no difference, but there is. I recently sold my AR15 back to a gun store and bought a .22 precision rifle to compete in competitions in, I have no use for the AR and do not like what they stand for, so I got rid of it like every American should. I'm no longer willing to pay the price of thousands of kids lives so I can own a deadly toy. That's how it should be framed. They're willing to pay the price of 4000 dead kids to be able to legally keep their favorite toy.

And in the moment someone does not follow this artificial, AR-15 induced power ranking, it ends in a catastrophe.
How horrible that all goes wrong is seen with the latest event. The paranoia that is promoted with all means leads to stochastical events, that then can be used to increase the paranoia.
With that paranoia you get an 84-year old to feel lethally threatened when a boy rings unexpectedly at your door because he caught the wrong house.
Question: with this mindset, when I see someone with a gun, or suspect he has a gun, am I not justified to assume a lethal threat for my life and so shoot to kill this person in preemptive self-defence?
So you only need some item "THAT made ME feel threatened", and no one can disprove the intensity of your feelings, so they would have to let you go.
And as the other person is armed, to shoot to only incapacitate is unsafe, it is appropriate to shoot to kill.
Do not misunderstand me, this is insane, that would in the shortest time solve the issue of the US domination because the population would exterminat itself.
