I commented 2 years ago when I had the series 5 stainless with sapphire and thought I’d give an update. I gave up on the 5 and sold it. I have stuck with the Fenix 6X Sapphire till now. The Ultra 2 came out and I finally have an almost indestructible Apple Watch. I also have everything Apple, because of the OS, and it’s real convenient to have an Apple Watch. I hardly carry my iPhone any longer. I will hold on to the Fenix though. Garmin still makes the best sports and adventure watch.
I have had a couple Apple watches in the past. While they are nice smart watches and are easy to use I purchased a Fenix 6X Pro recently. It really provides a lot more information regarding activities and health than the Apple watch does. Although you can probably find an App for the Apple watch that will provide those missing data that is not native to the watch. One thing I like about the Fenix 6 is the battery life. Easily last me a week ofr more between charges and that is with pulse ox turned on. Another great feature for me is the golf app built into the watch. I am a golfer and this watch has over 40,000 golf courses world wide built into the watch. It will show you shot distances to the green and also can keep score and automatically moves from hole to hole. Very accurate yardages. A stand alone golf watch will cost over $200 for a decent watch and the Garmin Fenix 6 includes all that data that a Golf watch has. All in all it's a very good watch. Apple watch is also very good. Try them both and see which is a better fit for you. Nice to have choices.
@@JBOutside1 you're welcome. Also the sleep tracking is really helpful. Need to download the Garmin connect app to get full use of the watch and it's many features.
I have both and the Garmin gets the most wrist time. I have the stainless saphire apple watch and it still seems a lot more delicate than my Fenix 6X Saphire.
I’m actually in a funny spot. I returned the 6X. But now wish I had a tougher alternative to the apple. Trying to be patient and wait for the next Fenix.
When you wear the 6x, how tight do you put it on? I try the “one finger under the band” rule but I feel like it’s too loose.and when I run I can feel it wiggle a bit.
The Fenix has a different kind of display which works best in sunlight. It's not OLED based and needs much less power. As you said, it's a completely different type of watch for a different purpose. I'd say it's for outdoor sports only (running, cycling, triathlon), definitely not a lifestyle watch. That's why it has this kind of screen, that's why it has buttons (runners need buttons), that's why the battery lasts so long etc. I'm into running and I don't know any serious runner who uses an Apple watch. But when it comes to lifestyle features, apps etc. I'm sure the Apple watch is a lot better than the Fenix.
Totally agree. Both serve a specific purpose and I love what the Garmin offers in the outdoor arena. For short duration, up to a marathon distance the Apple Watch is totally capable.
can any one tell me which one is best to buy in term of durability with best build quality ? my option is Apple watch series 7 titanium and Garmin Fenix 6x Pro titanium with solar
You may be waiting a while. But I agree. They’re betting on a daily battery life is adequate. I’m hopeful the “adventure” version becomes reality and shows off a better battery
Did you notice that your video brightness is completely blown out? Maybe not correctly transcoded HDR video? Makes it hard to watch tbh. Thanks for the review though!
This lighting set-up was not optimal. I tried to brighten it up. I haven’t used this set-up since because of the backlight situation. I’ll go back and take a look at the HDR and we what happened. Thanks for the feedback!
i consider my Fenix6 X Pro as an important edc item, along with my multitool and flashlight(s). sometimes i commute with my bicycle, but not often. i do enough effort at my job, so i dont have time and energy for real sport. coming after a few Samsung and Amazfit watches, Fenix is worse for life in a city. the new Fenix 7 might be better. so for me, the only reason i bought it is because i consider it a tool. i live in Romania, we might be in war if Putin goes crazy. im trained with guns, i was in the army but from there and from work in chemichal plants and shipyards i noticed one must be prepared
I am fully enveloped in the Apple Eco System as well, HOWEVER, when it comes to a watch, I’m a GARMIN Owner of the Fenix 6X Pro Solar. I have been with Garmin since the Fenix line started and totally, Trust, Depend and Count on the Garmin Fenix! Nice Video…. 🇺🇸
@@86keen Correct, Apple isn’t supported on Garmin yet, but you can put your purchased Apple Music on your Garmin watch if it supports that (Fenix 6X does and that’s what I use).

Downloading music to my Fenix 6S Pro is slow, drains battery and sound quality to my bluetooth headphones is very bad compared to listening from my phone. So I never use the music option. It can play flac files though, but I haven’t tested sideloading those since I think its more a bluetooth codec issue?

Perfect? No way. Overpriced? I’d say expensive but prices have been fairly static over the last few generations. The utility of the eco system is the real genius IMHO
Big NEWs!! The Fenix 7 and Epix 2 have been released! I’ve ordered the Epix to test out this next generation…stay tuned!
As an athlete and lover of all Apple, I prefer the Garmin hands down. Sold my Apple Watch…
I can see that. Seriously considering getting a Garmin back in some form.
Issue is the Apple Watch is way more accurate!
@@30mattdavies That is a pity. Let's see how it looks with the Fenix 7

Try one more notch. I keep it tight enough so it doesn’t move around on my wrist when running.

That’s timely! I was just looking at all my settings and discovered the “gestures” setting. Now it wakes when I raise my wrist. Much better! 👍🏻👍🏻
