the fact that both emily dickinson and billie eilish are both sagittarius (OH and hailee!!!) should not be a coincidence lol btw AMAZING EDITING thank you for this masterpiece
I actually felt that the show had gained a better footing this season. Which is why I got so confused as to why people were saying 'season one was better'.
I agree that overall it did. it had more of everything, more plots, more characters, more complexity. I feel like that's what might make it feel a bit off at times, it's a half hour show with only 10 episodes trying to balance *so much*. but I think it did it a great job. thanks for commenting 🥰
Definitely a good song choice for Emily in season 2. I've thought since they played Bury a Friend during Emily's meeting with Death in the very first episode that if Emily Dickinson was alive today she would probably really like Billie Eilish. They have similar creative souls and feel Emily probably would have connected with that.
thank you! I agree, they explore similar themes from obviously extremely different point of views. But fame, death, love in all its froms, religion are all central in both their work and it's so interesting to me to try and connect the two.
This is art. The combination of this song, the show, the voiceovers...ughhh (0:50 "nobody"). Love your editing! This season was so complex, but this edit simplifies it for my last two brain cells ❤️ P.S. Concerts? What're those??? 🤣
that is such high praise, and very close to my heart because that's always my priority, to make sure the words, music and images all tell the same story! thank you so much
Emily and Sue story was so superb. Really, great acting to both-deserve an award. If they don't get it then favoritism is the reason. It would be like a joke. So Yes ! need to be voted to get an award.
@@ItalianRory i like the fact that you used this song (which i love), and i totally appreciate the focus on emily character which is kinda intense. also, the words, the the choice of the scenes are great and i like the clear coloring and the transitions neatness. lovely ♥️
Bia!This is truly amazing, the song choice and how you do character studies?I'm in awe. How you edited it, how you matched each scene very masterfully and the voiceovers. I think you made me understand better the journey this season has been for Emily even I liked the first one better (still so glad I started to watching because of you) . This is so inspiring!Thank you for this
This is so great! 🖤🤍 I recently finished the show and it's tradion to watch the edits that have been made. I have so much to say. First of the song:it's a wonder how many times I heard it in vids, (even edited to it) and not only it doesn't get old but it seems like it works for so many characters that had interior conflicts at some point. Here it works because Emily's dream was for her voice to be heard, and he thought she wanted fame but it took a lot of anxiety and heartbreak (and ine very relatable inspiration block 😅) for her to realise that she didn't, in fact, need it. Only 'her Sue' I agree with everything you said in the description. I personally don't think that the second season was bad, the complete opposite, I loved it as m uch as I loved season 1? I mean I get a lot of people were disappointed in the lack of Emisue but the show is not just the ship (although they are a great ship) but about every character and it eas about Emily's struggle with her thpughts and fame. I also agre that Sue wasn't as terrible. I mean I was so pissed with her myself but I always felt there is no way she would have changed overnight and it's definitely a mask and it was! The conversation with Mary prooves she hid under the mask of spending money and having party and vanity, but deep down she HURT so much. Because of her baby, because of the love she felt for Emily. I think they had to be apart in order to make literally everything in this season happen (including the Sam bit). Plus, who doesn't love a good slow burn? The distance made their last scene so much worth it in my opinion. I understand that some think tha was the only good episode, but for me angst is the thing, you know? Without the angst there wouldn't have been such a powerful and honest scene (the fight scene) and beautiful/conforting (the love scene and the ending). I am also with you on Austin. He had such a great development and even his relation with Emily got even better and he became so more supportive. My boi literally wemt from 'your poems are meaningless' to 'I am proud of you'. He doesn't deserve how Sue is treating him either, cause he didn't mean any harm to her. I think he deserves happiness and I would like to see more of him and Jane (but I think both ships, them and Emisue will nver be endgame because history). I am looking forward to the next season and I wonder if the next imagination would be War or something. Anyway, sorry the ramble, I will go watch your other edits now.
first of all thank you SO much for taking the time to watch, read and leave such an interesting comment! I will say, having had time to sit with this second season now, I can confidently say I like the first one much better and I think I've pinpointed why. I still stand by everything I said about all the characters and plotlines, and I still think Emily's journey this season which I tried to represent in this video was SO incredibly interesting, and every moment of it needed. What I think doesn't work (or at least not as well as it could) is really two things reguarding characters and storylines. First, characters like Sue, Austin and Mr Dickinson in particular had MAJOR development one way or another and it was all off screen between season 1 and 2, and that's just a shame. We never got to see Austin and Emily have to rebuild their relationship after the major fight in the s1 finale, or Sue slowly distancing herself from Emily, Sue and Austin's marriage falling apart or Mr Dickinson coming to terms with Emilys writing. It's such a shame and I hope the same wont happen with s3. The second thing that bothers me about the season is the repetitiveness of a lot of storylines. As I sad I LOVE Emily's stuff and think seeing as she's the protagonist and her struggle is also the theme for the whole season, it makes sense how back and forth she goes on it, seeing it from a different angle every episode. But for example Lavinia's storyline was literally the same every single episode and I know people loved it but I hate to say it kinda bored me after two episodes? And I say this as a Lavinia stan. Also in general I really don't like how they handled Sue's character. As much as I understand it in theory, there's just something that didn't completely convince me about it. Sleeping with Sam of all people, her only friend other than Emily's husband? And then going to see her and get comforted by that same friend? I don't care how much she was holding in, that's just shitty behaviour that is really quite difficult for me to justify, as much as i love her. And I still think the ending was too happy and clean. With Sue and Austin's marriage falling apart and Emily being absolutely aware of that, the two of them just boinking all over the house seems a bit forced to me. Rambled right back atcha, hope you don't mind! have a lovely day, thanks again for the comment, much appreciated.
@@ItalianRory Hmm, I guess you are right on certain points. I loved the season mostly because it was interesting to see Emily come to a conclusion wiht everything and I was waiting on every episode to see what she will decide. But I admit I didn't think much of the other aspects you mentioned, like how we didn't see the changes from s1 and s2. Come to think of it Sue was completely different and it would have been nice to see how it came to it.Same with Austin. However, with her father I think the ending when she said 'I am a poet' and he said 'I know they were hinting about it'. But I admit that too could have been explored more. I see what you mean. Idk, maybe they wanted to give that 'a few months later' vibe but I can see why it didn't sit right with some. Sue was really shitty too, I don't meam to defend her, I just meant to say they al least explained why. She was not a monster though she acted very selfishly towards Emily. Desperate, yes, cowardly also yes, but not a monster. I hated her for 7 episodes then I forgave her when she was honest with Emily. Not 100% as it doesn't erase it but I calmed a bit. I still liked the ending despite it feeling a bit too good to be truth, mainly because it was a beautifully delivered scene. Though it was a bit oddd how Emily didn't think of Austin...yeah, I am conflicted now, thanks :)) As for Lavinia, I didn't even think avotu her when I made this comment (shame on me, cause I like her too). I liked how her storyline was about her owning her femininity and independence and I thought her and Ship were kinda cute, but by the end it seemed likethe writers didn't know how to end it so they made him go to New Orleans, but if je truly loved her he would have stayed... But all in all, it was a good season, maybe not perfect but good. Ramble accepted :))

Hailee is so underrated myghad! her emotion in this series is so awesome. before I watch dickinson Im sure that Im straight but now.I dont know🥴
ahah yeah hailee is absolutely incredible and actually the reason I started this series, I hope she gets all the recognition she deserves.
😂😂😂
And that's okay 💜

and yeah live music? what a concept
This might be the best Dickinson related edit I've seen! I love when editors make sure the lyrics connect to the scenes and you did it perfectly here!
