At the risk of sounding like a total dork, this is what music is to me. It’s about that instant connection with sound that’s both coherent and stimulating and will stick with you forever. Moments like this are important in shaping human beings. Music is more than just background noise. I hope everyone has had a moment, at least once like that.
This I can really relate to. It's like how I discovered my favorite band- Rush. I'll never forget- it was the late summer of 1997 and "Fly by Night" came on the radio in the car. My mother had just picked me up from school and we were in the car heading home. From then on, a 12-year-old boy's life was never the same. They are still my favorite!
This was my favorite Pete and Pete episode. I haven’t thought about this in probably close to 20 years at this point. Randomly thought about it while in the shower this morning and went looking for the clip. Thank God for RUclips
Very similar here. I think I typed "Pete and Pete nobody knows" in RUclips years ago, but apparently the search wasn't good enough to find it yet, as the words don't appear in the title/description of the video. Now suddenly it popped in my head again. No idea why I still remember this song 25 years later without watching the series inbetween or anything. I watched it on TV in Germany, so no maybe this particular episode just once or twice in my life. But I still remember that there is a scene where small Pete presses his face against a window, mumbling this song. And my wife complains that I cannot remember what she told me yesterday.
its just a story about finding out about rock n roll on your own. hits you like a tank, and you love it! long live Polaris! "i guess fate has a way of putting you in the right place, at the right time"
Anyone remember back in the day, the only way to get this song (and album by Polaris) was to collect two box tops of Frosted Mini Wheats and they'd send you the cassette tape?
My favorite song to. As a historian, the chorus particularly strikes me. That's how it is with almost everyone who ever lived, and so shall it be with nearly all of us in not much time. Nobody will ever know that we were around...
It reminds me of my dad and uncle jamming in the garage when I was a kid in the early to mid 90's, or when I walked across the street to see my friend and his dad had a band that practiced in his living room. I'm grateful to have experienced that tangible, fun, social, rock and roll culture while it was still prevalent. Watching these shows and hearing these sounds brings back sweet yet painful feelings because I know our culture will never be the same.
this episode really shows how much the world has changed since then...I watched it with my daughter last week and she said "Why didn't he just take out his phone and record a video?!?" I laughed my ass off & said "Honey, today's touchscreen cell phones & cameras didn't come out until I was well into college...although the iPhone is something which was derived from the iPod, the first iPods weren't anything like that...they didn't have a touch screen they had a round touch sensor on them and a single color screen capable of little other than text and the simplest of graphics. cell phones of the time this episode came out didn't have cameras or internet access...they were more like classic nintendo gameboys with a number pad...)
I was at work today and Im always quiet. And I randomly said to myself "nobody knows , i wasnt around". I didnt remember where it was from and just remembered barely. Man we're getting old. 39...
Polaris/ Mark Meadows’ music is so sexy and raw, the whole Pete and Pete album is awesome! “If you seen all I done, When I'm alone I do things that nobody knows Every drop of sex, and every little mess I make I was around, I was around”
Yeah, had to make it kid friendly. It's funny though, the legit album is "Music From the Adventures of Pete & Pete", so you'd think it would also be kid friendly!

Well said. Music is about the magic in the moment

It was around. You didn't know.
This is maybe one of the best episodes from a sitcom ever made
I’m glad this show has such a cult following but it still feels criminally underrated.
It is.
90's= under-appreciated masses of awesome garage bands and tv shows
I find myself singing this allllll the time. Had to look it up!
I have listened to multiple versions of this song and this version has the best drumming. The part at 0:47 is fantastic ❤

Sad I've had this happen to me before, see a band playing, absolutely fall in love with them and their songs, and never hear or see from them again.

"A song he could call his own." Music is so personal, the way it feels like a song belongs to you. I love that
Thank You Pete and Pete and the early 90s so much for my life!

This show shaped my life and my music. Thank you

I was around!
Life before Shazam was hard
This was made at the time companies wanted to sell rock bands.
This song was playing while Jimmy de Santa was tea bagging people in righteous slaughter
🌐
Hey! They stole Geordie Walker's guitar!
That's because Ray Neal is playing with them.
True, but that sure looks like Ray at left. Maybe he joined them just for this shoot?
I believe that the law applies to everyone, even if you're Tia and Tamara
Trust me we know what happens to guys like you

Different lyrics than what's on the album
They changed it for TV. Even so, you can still tell what the song is about.
Yeah, had to make it kid friendly. It's funny though, the legit album is "Music From the Adventures of Pete & Pete", so you'd think it would also be kid friendly!
