“Arc shouldn’t be that color” interesting thought that Resonance or whatever is coming through that portal as we know it could be the antithesis of Arc, maybe even a subclass itself. Edit: he made a video on it
it looks like something related to darkness knows the witness failed so it is trying to build an artificial veil for some reason. Or at least a structure that has the ability to function like the veil with the help of it's own darkness.
Is the idea of a multidimensional portal far-fetched? A message (probably meant for the laughs though) “Hello, world” passed through it, this implies that it maybe has ties to OUR reality. Hmm. Just a thought
This dungeon actually has story significance! Finally, it can join Shatterred throne and Ghosts of the Deep as the only dungeons connected to anything. Bringing Atraks back for a rematch was a great choice, the only letdown is that we still hardly know anything about her despite her being the main antagonist of a raid and a dungeon now. There is a certain question as to whether she's really dead even now, if she was subsumed into a hivemind, it's possible she wouldn't have had the agency to create a clone to save herself, but it's possible the Atraks that got corrupted wasn't even the real one, it may have been yet another clone.
@@icarusrising2787 Well, that doesn't mean much, BUNGIE may have just forgotten about it, and we do have Eramis' gauntlet, yet she's still alive and still wearing it.
While I am sad that we don't get to enter the Anomaly...it makes me wonder if the dungeon itself is a teaser for something with Frontiers? Because the last few dungeons have all been hints toward major faction developments to future expansions, seasons, or episodes. Duality was Calus's transition to Disciple, Spire of The Watcher was teasing Neomuna's origins, Ghosts Of The Deep was about the recovery Corpse, and Warlord's Ruin was Fikrul seeking a source of unique power for his Scorn. The anomaly in Vesper's Host is of Vex design...yet the energy it is emitting is definitely not the usual Vex color or power. It far closer to resonance and appears to affect the mind.
Maybe it's something to do with Darkness. After all, The powers of Darkness represent psychological properties(thoughts, consciousness, control, etc) while Light represents physical matter(nuclear fission, fire, black holes, etc). Maybe whoever or whatever took control over Atraks and the other Fallen on the station is trying to use Darkness for their own, nefarious deeds in the future. Remember, The Witness was just a *servant* of The Darkness. Not its master...
@@antilope5267 Very interesting. This entity feels genuinely horrifying and scary. Back in the Halo days the horror in the games are what made it so good. Hopefully Bungie can keep cooking like this, especially with prison of elders.
Wouldn't be too surprised if it actually was Atraks, considering part of her fight involved venting her nanotech clones out through the airlocks; perhaps losing the "prime" Atraks caused the clones to go rogue?
Well the DSC lore did insinuate that we may not have killed the right Atraks. I guess it wasn’t really confirmed until now, because how else could Atraks still be around if we killed her almost four years ago? Clearly she survived DSC, and either the real her has been either doing this in tandem with this Anomaly, the real her has gotten corrupted by the Anomaly, or one of her clones has been corrupted by said Anomaly. What’s more is that I was hoping this “Anomaly” would have a different name, as we’ve already got the K1 Anomaly, which I don’t think Bungie is gonna capitalize on any further.
@@twelved4983 There is the actual possibility of it being another mind using Atraks' body as a vessel. But we can agree that the pupeteer is not Atraks, at least not entirely. It seems to be a hivemind of sorts
Considering that they were doing experiments with the Darkness statues it could have something to do with resonance, the energy wave that Atraks activates is really similar to the resonance effects around the Witness. It also ties into the hivemind controlled by one that we see.

Either this will involve the Vex itself’s higher dimension, or the Winnower, as I think back on the lore about Oryx and the ritual to bring forth the Winnower into an ogre. The arc-like energy seems similar to pyramid resonance, with both its color and fog-like spread as shown with the portal’s reaction.
Yeah this is cool lore, mysterious and eldtritch which we've been kind of lacking ever since the Witness was made tangible. Of course the Nine makes most sense out of what already exists in Destiny. Light and Darkness have now combined which as we learned in TFS grants the ability to reshape reality and create new things. The Nine's objective has always been to enter our corporeal plane and become tangible, perhaps they believe that prismatic/the echoes/altered traveler are the key to creating their new bodies and are making a play to access it.
Speculation from a previous video on a second witness, the anonymous source I believe is the nine speaking to us. The device that has what looks like pyramid tech I believe is a portal possibly that a second witness or leader of the pyramid fleet is using.

Could be the nine, the winower, or something else entirely I'm pretty sure its not xivu arah or a worm god so we can take them out and clovis as well.
@@MichaelThomas-q3m I really hope it is. Only other known entity would be Nezarec, if he's not involved in the Revenant story (I ain't played it yet). The Nacre ship shows Bungie hasn't forgotten about the Winnower, so there's hope!
Looking at this dungeon and seeing the various set pieces, the story, the boss, it brings to mind Project Pegasus and Technovore from the Iron Man cartoon.
One would have to guess that Atraks is among the Exos who have lost their mind and gone mad from the constant resets or, in her case, duplications. Can't imagine that cloning hundreds of yourself over and over again, surviving a crashed space station, creating more clones and then coming into contact with this anomalous portal-esque thing would be good for someone's mental health or integrity.
since Atraks seems to have been corrupted prior to construction of what I can only assume to be some sort of satellite, my hypothesis is, that Atraks contracted some sort of virus, either via an incoming signal from far far away, or something already present on the station,(perhaps the meteors were carrying something), which then tasked her to construct the anomaly, in order the send a signal back, to whom/whatever sent this virus out in the first place. The obvious suspect is the Nine, as rather than the signal being spacially far away, we know the Nine exist on some other plain of reality that makes contact difficult for us. Along with the correlations between the dark energy and manipulation of consciousness and the Nine being non physical entities born from dark/anti matter leads to them being a likely culprit, although, this being a teaser for a new, unknown entity/ies would be very exciting. Bungie definitely cooked with this one.
In the second encounter it looks like they were producing Vex. Along the walls you can see them enclosed in those Pods. (sorry dont know if you covered it since Im still watching)
My theory would be a witness level enemy from a different time and space where Arc is yellow and trying to come to our world. Because remember? Elsie along with the vex had the ability to travel space and time.
Just some Eliksni on Europa wanting to build their own space colony out of an abandoned Bray Tech space station and of course it turns into Dead Space for them with a side Cthulhu. Ironic how the Lightbearers they ware trying to avoid wound up being the ones to end their misery and free them. I do wonder how they would make an ether dispensary in the station because I was thinking they turn the water tank and dispenser into their ether fountain for when they get thirsty. Nothing like a cup of ice cold ether to calm the nerves.
What if the teasing the new enemy for frontiers. Specifically why they did this dungeon for a race, so everyone can see it. Next expansions going forward, we get corrupt versions of the light subclasses.
I’m going to assume that this specific thing is what frontiers is going to be, if that’s a “portal” I can see us having to go through it to explore the frontiers and go after that signal, once we have finished all the loose ends in sol, it may be some kind of warp gate and we have to go investigate the signal, and we’ve already seen weird new structures in the frontiers insiders look.
My theory is that the Corrupted Puppeteer is the result of us ditching Atrax-1’s replication orbs out the airlock in DSC. One which found its way to Vesper Station.
It could’ve been an old awoken attempt to come back from the dreaming city that is only coming into play now or that energy could be resonance from an up and coming disciple that never actually came to be
I'm curious if this is a new strain of Scorn or an adjacent idea. This could be the Winnower stringing a batch of consciousness into a single network, with the (or a) body of Atraks being not exactly the puppeteer but the star puppet of the show. Given how Eramis may well be either dead or siding with us after her repeated failures, a Fallen hivemind could reasonably be the angle of future factions of opposing Fallen, much like how the Shadow Legion has come up to be the premier cabal opposing faction now that the other legions are scattered or under the Coalition's banner.
As someone who loves Nezerec im hoping its him on the other side death is incomprehensible the other side is incomprehensible sooooo anyone else putting peices together?
I'm going to venture a guess and say this thing from the beyond is the unnamed eldritch horror monster we'll learn more about it when we venture back to the dreadnought in Episode III.
What if this is the nines influence? After the traveler shot out all those ‘echoes’ it doesn’t seem to far fetched to think that the nine can finally gain a form or a way to make a physical body. Now that the ‘echoes’ are giving beings the power to transform and shape reality I think one of those echoes is in the possession of the nine.
Two quick points. One Icebreaker has no purpose being in this dungeon. Two this entire anamoly had the enemies working in unison could have had a weapon that takes its damage type from your others two equiped weapons so as to go with the concept of an anamoly
I feel like this HAS to be leading to a new darkness subclass. We have Stasis the opposite of Solar and Strand the opposite of Void. This Orangeish/yellow color eminating from the "anomaly" same as the darkness stuff surroudning Rhulk, Nezarek, Witness, and all things "darkness" and the audio saying "Arc energy shouldn't be that color" implying that it should be Arc enemy. It would be a MASSIVE troll on Bungies part to do all this and not eventually deliver on a 3rd Darkness subclass.
This giving off nezarec vibes of horror i wouldn't be surprised that dude not fully dead but just buying time and planning his return Getting a Dracula Curse kinda feel going on around here lol 😂
Could the possibility that the entire dungeon, even the jumping sections, are Darkness zones a subtle telling that the Anomaly is tie to the Darkness in some way?
are we going to unlock a certain way of traveling long distances in frontiers that will involve going through the not-warp and pissing off 4 weirdos whilst doing so?
Could the color of the energy be related to the third darkness subclass? The teasers on the mural inside Rhulks pyramid and the rocks from Nessus have a very similar color
OK. but what if it's the Nine? What if the Arc energy looks wrong because it's actually dark matter? What if the faction of the Nine that are trying to break free are doing so here?
I think it's the Winnower, who wants to lure one of it's knifes to Sol. A group becomeing a hive mind is nothing New in Destiny. It happened in presage, on Neptun with Lakshmi and of course the Witness. In A behindert the scenes Artikel from Bungie about the Veil Containment loges (I think it's it was in a TwiD from season of the deep) they said that it's no coincidence that this is happening so often. I think it's a thing of the Winnower to merge minds. The Winnower is also the only one, who could it be right now. It said it wants to bring more knifes to us to See if we can handle it.
What is wrong with this guy or girl or whatever the winnower is i thought it said it going to just watch the universe the way it goes not just send a witness wannabe or a knife to see how we can handle it does it see us tortured and suffering as entertainment for itself

Feels like it gives event horizon vibes but then gives us like that d1 moment where the cabal sent a distress signal only this time we don't know what's on the other side. Could be the nine, the winower, or something else entirely I'm pretty sure its not xivu arah or a worm god so we can take them out and clovis as well.
Elemental corruption.... that's a cool concept ....
Orange, waves, it reminds me of resonance.
@@jimijenkins2548could be the winnower from the other side of the anomaly I meant it is darkness anyway
@@MichaelThomas-q3m I really hope it is. Only other known entity would be Nezarec, if he's not involved in the Revenant story (I ain't played it yet). The Nacre ship shows Bungie hasn't forgotten about the Winnower, so there's hope!
Reminds me of the jumping puzzle in Root, the pulsating resonance wiping everybody!
Looking at this dungeon and seeing the various set pieces, the story, the boss, it brings to mind Project Pegasus and Technovore from the Iron Man cartoon.
Thank you for making this. I'm never attempting the dungeon but at least now I can know what it was about.
I feel like this is a huge setup for Frontiers and I'm with it.
exactly what I was thinking
I love it! It reflects what bungie have said that they want to bring back more mystery in the game
Couldnt even focus on the story while sweating my ass off in contest mode so thanks for the catch up vid!
There is some unique dialog if you walk through the scanners holding outbrake perfected.
Final encounter solo is rough, over an hour to beat. Props to anyone who’s also done it 🎉
ISTVAN like John warhammer heresy
since Atraks seems to have been corrupted prior to construction of what I can only assume to be some sort of satellite, my hypothesis is, that Atraks contracted some sort of virus, either via an incoming signal from far far away, or something already present on the station,(perhaps the meteors were carrying something), which then tasked her to construct the anomaly, in order the send a signal back, to whom/whatever sent this virus out in the first place.
Corrupted Puppeteer is close to passing Hefnd as my favorite dungeon boss because of how much you actually need to THINK to do dmg
In the second encounter it looks like they were producing Vex. Along the walls you can see them enclosed in those Pods.
(sorry dont know if you covered it since Im still watching)
Well last time a message was sent out in to space daddy oryx answered… makes you wonder what’s on its way
My theory would be a witness level enemy from a different time and space where Arc is yellow and trying to come to our world.
Dreg's Promise might have been a better exotic for this dungeon over the Ice Breaker, lore wise
I am a marvel with ten thousand arms...
True.
When Athrax activates or worships the anomaly it kind of reminds me of Crota's similar mechanic.
This dungeon gave major Event Horizon vibes and I thought it was awesome
Maybe this entity that atraks worship is the next big bad of destiny
This dungeon would’ve hit big in a prior dlc just sucks that this amazing dungeon is going unappreciated due to the lack/loss of players
Look at xur for example and combine that with the concept art of frontiers, cathulu themed
Congrats on 300k
I feel like this HAS to be leading to a new darkness subclass. We have Stasis the opposite of Solar and Strand the opposite of Void. This Orangeish/yellow color eminating from the "anomaly" same as the darkness stuff surroudning Rhulk, Nezarek, Witness, and all things "darkness" and the audio saying "Arc energy shouldn't be that color" implying that it should be Arc enemy. It would be a MASSIVE troll on Bungies part to do all this and not eventually deliver on a 3rd Darkness subclass.
This giving off nezarec vibes of horror i wouldn't be surprised that dude not fully dead but just buying time and planning his return
Getting a Dracula Curse kinda feel going on around here lol 😂
The blast from the Anomaly portal is straight out of the Root of Nightmares jumping puzzle, or the Upended from Vow of the Disciple
@@lucaricci1987Yep, as soon as I saw it, I jumped back into the hole 🕳 😂
That sounds like the darkness subclass for arc is being hinted at.....unity and loss of self?
Could the possibility that the entire dungeon, even the jumping sections, are Darkness zones a subtle telling that the Anomaly is tie to the Darkness in some way?
Doesn't the anomaly energy look a bit like the energy used by the Witness?
Could the eldritch entity be the winnower? or something we haven't even met yet
Feels like wrath
Winnower probably. Could be wrong, but now would be the time to start unveiling
Idk, Winnower is like fighting gravity. Like fighting a natural force and not an actual entitiy, so I don't think it's the main bad guy
I have 2 ideas the antagonist for apollo or the Winnower
I wonder if the anomaly is radiating pure resonance energy.
are we going to unlock a certain way of traveling long distances in frontiers that will involve going through the not-warp and pissing off 4 weirdos whilst doing so?
Could the color of the energy be related to the third darkness subclass? The teasers on the mural inside Rhulks pyramid and the rocks from Nessus have a very similar color
OK. but what if it's the Nine? What if the Arc energy looks wrong because it's actually dark matter? What if the faction of the Nine that are trying to break free are doing so here?
I wonder if it also connects to the 'void' that the vex come from in the Glassway Strike
Anyone else getting the same vibe as Star Wars Death Troopers?
The story: 3 guardians enter contest mode thinking it will be easy and get absolutely clapped
