I remember watching it on TV when I was 13. At the time, Armstrong's calm demeanor made it seem like landing was no problem. I only found out years later he had to reject the initial choice for landing because of boulders. His ability to make such a decision and to control such an awkward vehicle was phenomenal. ❤

    • @richard--s

The video recorded with a camera through a window of the lander looks way more impressive. You get a feeling how tight it was and so on.
But this here was a bit misleading, it doesn't show how they continued forward quite a while because of the boulders on the ground. And then he did the touchdown with just a few seconds of fuel left...
I think, that recording I mentioned was done with a film camera. It was not live in TV, only the audio was live on air... And the audio was different to this short video (I have seen a replay a few times...).
The "walk" down the ladder was live on TV from a TV camera mounted on a pole and moved out to capture the scene - some sort of a very early big selfie stick ;-)

If you wonder why the CG artist on this channel often doesn't signal "CG" on screen, it's because 1. People can figure stuff out themselves and get to know more things, as well as read descriptions. 2. Probably for realism replication. 3. Engagement in discussions in comments. The real LM landing footage was from a window pointed downwards, as some might've seen. This channel besides recreations also makes renders of hypothetical concept vehicle launches (nuclear rockets, reusable winged boosters, etc), so check that out on the channel.

      That’s cause it does
You have a huge engine blowing exhaust out & that moves stuff
But it doesn’t create a cloud of dust like here on earth, cause there’s nothing around to suspend the particles. End result is that the “blown” particles drop back down as soon as they are out of the exhaust plume

It says apollo 2 right on th3 footage. This is a present made illustration of the test landers that went to the moon. It wasn't until apollo 11 until we went to the moon. Just imagine. We didn't go once. We didn't even go twice. We went there 6 times. With humans. And almost 20 + in total And it's clearly obvious with the numbers. There were several attempts before with robotics. If Stanley Kubrick made the moon landing on a stage. Then how come he could barely make space odyssey believeable. Oh, right. Because in today's spectrum. Stanley Kubrick is an amateur involving anything film. That's your hero. Someone who would be considered an amateur, that youtube content creators hail over

Inside the lunar module was a:
      1 -- Dunebuggy
      2 -- Moon car
      3 -- Vehicle with 4 wheels
4 -- ANY OR ALL THE ABOVE
Choose wisely. I will be dehydrating manure so we can use it in space if ever we choose to go back to the moon, with a big huge moon car with 4 wheels, like we did in 1969.

Of all the hundreds of thousands of things NASA had to do right, I believe selecting Neil Armstrong to be the pilot was the most important. How do you explain the camera shots? Did another rocket accompany Apollo 11 with a film crew who took all those shots from variety of angles ?
And there was also a cameraman already on the moons surface who filmed the shot of Armstrong coming out of the rocket and therefore being the SECOND "man to take a small step for man but a giant leap for mankind "?
How come there are shadows of the rocket and men when the sun doesn't shine there?

When they left the moon, they blasted off and re-connected with the main ship and all three returned to earth.
I didn't see anyone taking pics of Armstrong stepping on the moon......?
The sun does shine there. They didn't land on the back side of the moon where the sun doesn't shine.
