an interesting fact, the oldest known Yuca cultivation site on earth is in El Salvador . a Mayan village that was buried by a volcano , a small part was excavated and called Joya de Ceren
from there Yuca spread to Asia and Africa mainly where the Spanish and Portugués controlled like Filipinas and Portugues africa

The tostadas are not from El Salvador. Yuca is a root. It is served with tomatoes, watercress, and cucumber. To make the plate look beautiful it is served with half of the yuca boiled and half of the yuca fried along with the vegetables, and tomato salsa (it is mildly spicy) or curtido (cabbage, onion and carrots plus spices pickled) plus pig (fried) (fritada). The sweet dish you ate nueganos are made of yuca, egg, or flour along with them is served the dulce de panela (brown color) plus is served with chilate (the drink which is made from toasted corn (maiz). It is served between lunch and dinner. Empanadas fillings are beans or milk curd. The empanada dough is made from plantains.
