In all seriousness… I can imagine some Taliban leaders saw this clip and it hurt their ego so much it caused them to unite with Al Qaida to send a message to us westerners that they are a force to be taken seriously and not ridiculed….
It's called social satire. Acknowledging a real situation, identifying the absurdities that exist, then amplifying and exploiting them ....sometimes useful to make something unpleasant more palatable. The Daily Show is an example of this....Presenting a critical eye while utilizing comic value to draw people in. Sometimes the critical component is lost on lazy minds. I personally like the over-the-top approach South Park uses to address some social issues....Also really liked the way Colbert portrayed himself as a conservative on The Colbert Report. Now, as a late night host, I literally cannot stand the guy. Borat is good, look for something called The Yes Men.
@@timadams940 I get social satire. I just found the simple office, in Queens nonethless, to be a very culturally different path from what most nations would do. Not absurd as it is funny.
Extremist have always had a safe home in the USA. All cultures, creeds and colors. Thousands of people walked by that office back then and didn't even know what a Taliban was... Reasonably so, as our culture back in the day responded less to things that didn't affect us directly. We lived vicariously through the lives of few vs the entire World Wide Web and information was only distributed by select outlets.
@@timadams940 This comment is everything I hate about the modern liberal media, and I'm a progressive. Satire has proven only to misinform the non-elite social classes. When it's South Park, it's the kids who parrot dumb shit for the next 20 years. When it's Borat, it's adults who end up hating the narrator and completely obfuscating the narrative. Satire is the worst, worst teacher.
@@zisha01 You could not be more mistaken. The reason that these topics are even in the political debate, (except those issues that affect people directly, such as gun violence or abortion) is because people learn about their existence through a comic medium. Some level of informativeness is better than none at all. Very few Americans knew what the Bhopal Disaster was before the Yes Men did their shtick (and even then, the knowledge of their films is limited). This stuff provokes some level of thought and ingestion...but there will always be the dimwits who only parrot the comic elements (Cartman, who is always portrayed as the jackass) and not consider the reasonable outlook (Stan and Kyle who are well-rounded and emotionally developed). I tend to have a mixed/ somewhat pessimistic view of people in general, I know they too often have a lack of curiosity about the world, and choose to keep themselves on a pretty narrow bandwidth of information. This tendency has only worsened with a channel of "infotainment" specifically tailored to meet and reinforce your own personal belief system. This feedback loop creates a population of dimwits along THE ENTIRE political spectrum. And even much of the comedic shows and late night tv monologues (which are now ALL pretty intolerable) all have an overwhelming agenda that drowns any existing element of humor that might still be derived... Professional comedians such as Chapelle, Rock, Burr and the like have the power and ability to challenge assumptions, biases and narrowness through their style of empathy and hilarious but brutal truths. This is why they are so unwelcome on college campuses. I certainly don't claim to have all the answers, but I do feel that the best way to respond to the absurd, self righteous simplicities of the likes of Tucker Carlson is through humor.

According to The Intellectual Dark Web, I'm a huge fan of the Taliban. The question to them isn't whether or not liberals love the Taliban, but WHY we love the Taliban, and they've figured it out. Jordan Peterson and Peter Boghossian psychoanalyzed us. It's because we're weak and feminine and the Taliban is strong and masculine and we admire and yearn for this domination over our women.
Afghan women are 10x more polyamorous than their men and cant get that workplace is no nightclub. They don’t even let their marriage get in the way. That’s why they keep losing their rights. Nothing to do with domination. Western women aren’t that out of control. The situation of men in the west has very little to do with being weak and feminine. Otherwise, they would have stopped being sexual predators and seeing relationships/marriages as retirement homes. Btw, I am no feminist.
I can smuggle you into Afghanistan if you really love the taliban but I wouldn’t promise to get you out before they set you on fire let me know when your ready to go just dig up 10 grand and it’s done deal
Wish people would bother to understand Afghanistan's history. Britain never lost a war in Afghanistan, over the course of a hundred years of frequent conflict, nor did Russia or America for that matter. What nobody ever succeeded with was occupation and that has to do with geography and geopolitical influence from outside.
So what is your definition of loosing a war? Because I would say it is "leaving the territory you previously occupied because it is too costly to keep it/take it back".
@@JM-mh1pp You'd have to do some background reading on the "Great Game" as it was referring to. Afghanistan never mattered to the Raj, it was/is a landlocked buffer state between empire's. Never really had a national identity, a hodge podge of ethnicities, tribes and religion's, at least then. Britain tried and failed to occupy and most people know the story of British forces retreat from Kabul in 1842. But what isn't explained is that the war didn't end there. Britain went back, exacted retribution and defeated the regime that treacherously broke the agreement and installed a corruptible administration. That became the norm from that point over a hundred years, two more wars and many individual punitive expeditions. Policy was "butcher and bolt", that worked. Since I'm muslim, I can maybe give it a shot to explain to you. So from an Islamic perspective, the pure Islam, pictures and TV and all that fall into that category are "innovations". These are not permitted in Islam. There's no simple way to put this to you. Of course the criticisms and insults are bound to follow my statements, but a little introspection and truthfulness can also explain Islam's stance on innovations like TV. What has TV given to the world? Slotting in an educational channel in between Baywatch and 50 shades of grey, is hardly an effective answer to the way young minds are being shaped. If these things weren't so bad, then why the need for PG18 SNLV warnings? In which way has TV made the world better? My understanding of fundamentalists of any persuasion is that they see their system/religion is compromising with the modern world and want to take it back to what they think is the original state of the religion Trying to transplant a state of mind that is 1 or 2 thousand years old to the present time is doomed to failure.

@Bernard Ray The Army Corps of Engineers built roads and bridges and schools and infrastructure for 20 years. Things that we need here now. Why would the backward country people stop them?
Except they really didn't. They simply retreated and waited for America to hemorrhage money to the point where it was politically impossible to continue. The Taliban were classic guerilla fighters, and had no means to match the US in any conventional sense, but the strictures of 4th generation warfare do not require military might, only patience. In every conventional engagement, the Taliban lost, basically- but this is only a demonstration of the utility of a Fabian policy. This makes me uncomfortable. The situation is so serious ...
In all seriousness… I can imagine some Taliban leaders saw this clip and it hurt their ego so much it caused them to unite with Al Qaida to send a message to us westerners that they are a force to be taken seriously and not ridiculed….
Thank you ! I love all the flowers 💐 hope your cutie dog is doing ok and is happy 😊
Not a joke... This Taliban guy was their "Ambassador." That building in Queens wasn't a joke either. (I'm so confused right now. ) 🤔
But why do you always lose if you are superior in everything and are the best
Thanks. Needed that laugh as I grow concerned for the resistance forces in Panjshir.
Don't worry anymore. They lost
@@canadapapers Thanks to Pakistani air support and Pakistani servicemen in Talibani garb. Canada is blessed with Pakistani mullahs with weekly ‘peace’ cermons

Sad to say but it's over the Panjshir has finally fallen there's still pockets of resistance they might be able to wage an insurgency for years to come but this fight is lost I hope with all my heart I'm wrong but everything is pointing to the Taliban taking total control of the Panjshir within days especially with air support from Pakistan
@@davemeads859 you seem to think the taliban are buddy-buddy with pakistan, but the truth is they are distrustful of them,I would go so far and say they actually hate them, the former ambassador to pakistan wrote a book about how untrustworthy the Pakistani are and how they sold them out to the Americans, the title of the is book is my life with the taliban, and assuming they they are "friendly" with the taliban and use that term loosely they wouldn't be stupid enough to give "air support",I'm guessing you watched some indian channel that has its source with the nrf, which also claimed that Tajikistan is supplying them with ammunition, guns and reinforcements which is impossible since the government literally said they won't interfere in other countries affair and Russia would probably not like that either.
They should take effeminate with them too..
If you admire them that much why don’t you go over there and meet them but show them your feminine self😉
@@R2ttz5 he wants to be a Talibunny
Wish people would bother to understand Afghanistan's history. Britain never lost a war in Afghanistan, over the course of a hundred years of frequent conflict, nor did Russia or America for that matter. What nobody ever succeeded with was occupation and that has to do with geography and geopolitical influence from outside.
Great point
Apparently nobody at the Pentagon reads much.
@@JM-mh1pp everything is relative did the allies loose because Germany and Japan weren’t occupied by us Why did we go there in the first place? It definitely wasn’t to stay
@@myleskennedy7733 Both Germany and Japan WAS occupied by allies, then allies installed new governments which beat down all opposition into submission and became both de facto and de iure leaders of nations. This is called a win.

The Awful Truth was BRILLIANT a television show, Michael. It’s too bad America hates intelligent T.V. shows, because yours was funny, sharp, and really made you think.
Love your stuff, Mike! ✌🏼🇺🇸
I think it would be worth hearing why they have a problem with TV.
Except for highly paid actors and actresses, who don't even live or walk amongst the ordinary folk. I could go on, you can engage me in a debate, without insulting Islam or it's prophet and I will try my best to answer your questions. Thank you.
I believe they were against the movies and those hyper sexual stuff and they couldn't ban it so they banned TV altogether

I just read the comments. Wow.
Clearly the concept of 'satire' is lost on many cultures.
Well... it could be argued that satire can be "in the eye of the beholder". To you, it may be a brilliant dissection of the foibles and failings of another culture- to someone else it may just seem like an insult. Part of it probably depends on if you are punching up, or punching down.

But I think we're allowed to punch the Taliban. Metaphorically at least.
@@songOmatic I would only submit that maybe (admittedly optimistically) they might have learned that even the dictates (hadith) of the Prophet might have to face certain modern realities.
Correct. When Michael does it, it's lost. When South Park, The Colbert Report, Borat does it, it's all lost. Maybe satire is actually a really really poor teacher, and media figures should stop using it.

I watched a Russian film about the war with Afghanistan, and one of the characters said that, in History, no one has ever won a war against Afghanistan.
That is true. They don't care how long it takes, how many lives are lost. They just keep fighting. My understanding of fundamentalists of any persuasion is that they see their system/religion is compromising with the modern world and want to take it back to what they think is the original state of the religion Trying to transplant a state of mind that is 1 or 2 thousand years old to the present time is doomed to failure.
Fundamentalism is usually reaction to uncertainty. Recently we could see it in Brexit. Thousands of people going backwards in "good old times" (strong nationalism) trying to find safety in uncertain situation around. I hope Afganistans will get their country back from talibans.
