I’ve started watching all videos starting from the beginning. I now sometimes find myself in a tough spot at the table and say to myself “what would Brad Owen do”
I’m right there with you guys, just started at episode 1 yesterday. Great vlogs, love his dry sense of humor and one liners. I know others have mentioned it, but I also appreciate that he shares all the hands...good and bad.
I get so much out of this. You've been teaching me how to range and hand read. Much appreciated. Please continue table cams. I find all the non poker stuff useless, but whatevs. Thanks a million.
Hey Brad, not sure if you realize this, but your videos have a really strong sense of great storytelling through the scenes shown, the background music used, and more. You are doing your own editting and coming up with the skits, like the lion/Kosmos scene, which are purely delightful. You may have a strong talent for filmmaking, and should consider concentrating on developing that, as their is huge upside to that. Also, brand Kosmos wearing sports gear into some decals, stickers and onto T-shirts, some with poker themes. Might make some bank.
Don't know your background nor your poker history but you're just having a good time doing what you love. Keep it up man, love seeing you being yourself!
Been watching your videos from the start. I liked the change of showing some tournament stuff and would happily see more, if that fitted with your playing plans.
I think the best play with the pocket 10s is to flat call and see a flop in position. When you shove 30+ big blinds in a tournament flipping against AK is probably the best case scenario when you get called. But either ways, nice vlogs! Keep it up and good luck!!
You're a fine player, but with the AK on that board you just have to shut down after the flop. You read him as weak which was wrong, and like your buddy said the spades were irrelevant; he wasn't folding top pair there.
Hey Brad, I saw you out at TV that night but didn't want to interrupt you. I was playing a 3-6 game on table 1. I wasent sure at first because you were so far from your normal stomping grounds. Good luck next time, thanks for the good content!
Yeah, like everyone was just there to have fun." With an $1100 buy in?? Shit. I would have been focused as hell, nervous that half of my savings was invested in this. lol. That is why I stick to the $50 Legion tournament buy ins!
Hi Brad! Great vlog as always, love the little segway moments that you add to make it unique for your editting style - good to see you've been taking care of the cat lol!. If possible, could you advise what is the name of that poker analysis software you were using - displayed at 12:27 - while discussing that final hand, thank you kindly.
Haha thanks. The app I use is PkrCruncher. The screenshot in this episode is from cardplayer's website though. They do the same thing but it was easier for me to take a shot from my computer screen. If you google "Texas Holdem Odds Calculator" it should come up.
Thanks for the reply mate and thanks for taking the time to make these vlogs; we know that they're time consuming on your part - just wanted to say we all appreciate them. Looking forward to the next vlog!
I like the mix of cash games and tourney play. I thought the shove w/ tens w/ 20bb was okay maybe a little desperate. tens can play tough after the flop, couple over cards hit the board and you end up just set mining if you flat, your buddy had some good analysis of the hand as well and rep the overs after the flop if in position (or get check raised). need to run good on flips to go deep in tourneys, if the tens hold you get a much needed double up and can open up your game. I thought the cut with the lion was, GRRRRRRRRRREAT! (my bad, sorry), love the funny in the videos, keep up the good work.
Brad, do you think smooth calling with TT is ever an option in the spot you were in? You could get away from it post flop when the A hits. I was in a similar spot, just looking for advice
Austyn Irvin He didn't have much left and in most spots he is right that the cutoff would fold to a shove. I think it was the right play and it technically was because he had the best had preflop.
At certain points in tournaments you have to take risks. I got it in as a 13 or 14% favorite and at that stage in the tournament I was happy to do that. It's important not to be results oriented.
Brad Owen I'm with you man! you absolutely have to take risks at some point, or else you end up with a super short stack from flatting 10's etc instead of just shoving with your 20 BB's or so. just my opinion.
jamming 10s for 25bb in that spot is the most logical and standard play. Just flatting with a hand as vulnerable as 10s is weak sauce and massively exploitable. Flop comes K J 6 you check fold? Flop comes A 3 5 you fold? your oppo will be c betting boards likes these 100% of the time even with middling pocket pairs and unpaired hands
Hi Brad, I really like your blog, you must have put in a looot of time and effort into it. So thank you very much for sharing all this. I have one question about the pocket 10s all in vs AK preflop play. can u tell how you could have played better this hand?
Thanks. I got it in as a favorite so I'm happy to do that at that stage in the tournament. I talked to Kevin about it after and he said it was 100% the right play to make. Sometimes it's just your turn to die.
Dear Brad, thank you for your answer. Understood! it would be nice if we can have 5-10 minutes someday to talk about some future poker plans, exchange some of our experiences etc ...
Yes, I have very special plans for the next tournament episode. It was going to be the next vlog I put out but now I'm going to postpone it for the purpose of getting one of the best tourney pros in the world to help analyze with me and it'll come out in about a month if everything goes as planned. I have plenty of cash game footage in the meantime. One of the cash game episodes will be of a session I played last night/this morning and should be the most interesting one so far.
funny cat you have in your backyard. :-) Maybe start a run good vlog wearable, giraffe shirt vs favorable shirt from your friend. keep up the good work!
Hey Brad! Love your blog man, I'm a huge fan! l gotta ask tho, Since l assume you're a tight/aggressive player, playing only quality hands preflop, how do you adjust your play at the table after a while? Because as a tight player, l do well at first, but people notice I'm tight and most of the hands l join don't have too much actions... Would love an answer from you! Thanks a lot for the vlogs! Keep it up!
I wasn't that tight in this tournament. I was 3-betting fairly often. Some of the hands I remember doing it with were 76o and ATo. I opened with J9o, Q3s, and various other hands that weren't that good. It just doesn't make the vlog since I don't have video of hands that weren't all ins and they weren't that significant. The players on my left weren't defending their blinds so when it folded to me on the button I was very active. The players on my right were opening to wide so I'd 3-bet from the blinds pretty frequently. There was quite a bit of interesting stuff that I didn't include but wish I was able to.
You have to widen your range of PFR hands in late position, and showdown a few, so players will give you more action Or use your tight image to 3 and 4 bet more.
While traveling and playing smaller stakes NL, hotel room prices surely have to take a toll on the earnings and hourly rate. Why not look into AirBNB or other services for better deals to maximize profits?
hey brad! Couple quick questions, what do you use to film with? Are casinos cool with you filming at the table? How do you approach the issue with filming at the table with the other players?
Hey Devi, I use my phone. Casinos were not cool with it in the beginning but have become more and more accepting now that they see I try to be respectful of everyone's privacy and usually try to make the casino look good. Many of them are happy I'm filming to give them free publicity. A lot of times the subject will come up at the table and I'll ask players if anyone has an issue with their face or voice being on video and I'll take extra precautions not to include those people in the vlogs.
that was a great vlog. you played good. i know the feeling losing. all you can do is try. it's hard to bluff a bad player! they sometimes never fold. you could of hads pocket kings in that spot. i like the c-bet. but sometimes you have to give up on the turn. hey, did your buddy win the tournament?
You seem like a fun guy to hang around with and drink some beer at the local casino. I live in Ottawa ont. Canada. And just across the river in Gatineau ,québec we have the "Casino du Lac Lemay" . Hit me a reply if you ever want to come and I'll send you my email. I'll buy you a drink at the bar and own you on the tables! Lol just kidding I'm just a regular amateur player. Hope to see you down here! I'll show you the good sites around town!
The hand you said you butchered, you also said you thought he did not have many queens in his range. I think AQ, KQ, maybe even QJ suited are very likely to be in his potential range. JJ and 1010 are possible, but he would most likely 4bet JJ. So 10's is probably the only hand that he's potentially folding, and probably not to 1 barrel. Not much point in c-betting that flop in the long run. *edit* hadn't finished the vlog where you tell him his hand, this was right before that
He really shouldn't be calling 4k 3-bets with a 25k stack with KQ or QJ. He's way too likely to be crushed. There are lots of hands that don't fold to one barrel in position which is why I decided I'd very likely be firing two if I was going to c-bet. I don't think he's going to be calling his whole stack off with JJ or TT. AK could reasonably flat a 3-bet in position and then call a flop bet but fold to a turn bet as well.
There's at least some chance AK folds for nearly a half pot sized bet on the flop. With that being said, I don't think it makes much of a difference. I could've jammed, I like betting 6k better because he can't really fold anything for that amount.
Brad Owen if you bombed your remaining 9,000 after the flop that's what the pot would be. Not really saying you played it bad I'm just chiming in with how I'd play it. Nice double up.
I'd like to put them out more frequently but it takes up a lot of time. I play significantly less poker these days and don't really get anything from making these videos.
A substantial majority of them were good. They certainly don't all make the video. All it takes is one bad one unfortunately... and it's always going to make the video.
What does you hyping up your friends winnings have to do with anything? Weird to bring all that up & be like "yeah so with that being said we're going to have a lot of fun" o_O

Brad, you're the man. Thanks for your videos. They are fun, informative, and helpful.
Tournaments are a beast of a different kind. Brad crushes cash games like no other.
Don't know your background nor your poker history but you're just having a good time doing what you love. Keep it up man, love seeing you being yourself!
Tough break on that final hand. Nice change of pace episode. Good luck and thanks for all the hard work.
Another great episode! Thank you so much for the videos, Brad. You'll get them next time, bud.
I'm new to poker but learning a lot from watching your videos. Keep it up man!
Been watching your videos from the start. I liked the change of showing some tournament stuff and would happily see more, if that fitted with your playing plans.
Really?!?! No one is going to talk about how strange he does his check marks?😂
Nice. Good to see some juicy tournament action for a change of pace. Channeling your inner Jeff Boski.
Haha Jeff is a tourney crusher. Glad you liked it.
Like the tournament perspective. Keep up the great vlog.
Great vlog Brad! Keep it going. Can't wait for more!
This is my favorite poker vlog. Thanks.
Thanks a lot man. I'm glad you like it. Good luck to you.
your buddy had some very insightful advice about that hand. I want to be to that level of thinking some day.
can't wait to see how Kevin does!
Enjoyed another thanks. Keep it up. Have fun, good luck and rungood
Good luck to you too, thank you

This vlog is great!
Lion good practice for keeping a cool and relaxed appearance when you bluff bet a player with a medium strength hand. I would have ran.

Did I? L's are hard.

New camera? quality looks much better
Thanks, I've had it for a little while but the sound on the camera isn't very good so I have to sync the video of it with the mic from the computer.
Good effort! However, quite an expensive tournament.
How many final tables have you made?
How far did your friend Kevin go in the tournament?

I like your shirt, the one at the end of the vlog. Who gave it to you?
Haha, thanks. My mom gave it to me as a birthday present.
I figured there was no way you had that much fashion sense. ;) Had to be a mom or a gf.
Whoa... lol. I'm very fashionable!
Lagunitas?
Yep, my favorite beer

He’s suicidal 😂
I know it’s been 3 years since u commented this but I can’t help but make the joke
Dude his name is "Little Ice" Brad.
You're lefty! :o

I much prefer the cash game videos…I feel like I’m at the table with you when you do cash
Stick it in and slowly slide it in.
why not jam aces on the flop?
There's at least some chance AK folds for nearly a half pot sized bet on the flop. With that being said, I don't think it makes much of a difference. I could've jammed, I like betting 6k better because he can't really fold anything for that amount.
tytytyty glgl
Why not just ship it all in after the flop with the Aces? Guys probably not folding to a $9,000 bet with 28,725 in the pot.
Maybe not, but he definitely didn't fold the fold way I played it.
There wasn't that much in there.
Brad Owen if you bombed your remaining 9,000 after the flop that's what the pot would be. Not really saying you played it bad I'm just chiming in with how I'd play it. Nice double up.
Oh ok I see. Yeah, shoving is 100% reasonable.
Cha'alt!
LAGUNITAS IPA?! GREAT CERVEZA
My favorite drink. Brewed two towns from my home city.
Ever been to Russian River Brewing Co.?
Yeah, I love that place too and I went there at the end of my 5th vlog.
Anyone else think he makes check marks backwards?
How many boxes of shit have you gotten in the mail Brad? Brave move putting your address on RUclips man!! Love the vlog, great stuff.
Wow that lion wanted to rip you a new ahole bro :p
Bahaha cattitude!
First on the comment wall.. Great vids!!
Lagunitas IPA......?

Lol, he hates being on it.
can you please get a watermelon juice at aria?
Kevin>Jeff as a sidekick
Why do you take so long to post new videos????
I'd like to put them out more frequently but it takes up a lot of time. I play significantly less poker these days and don't really get anything from making these videos.
I don't understand how you guys think that us poker fans, what to see the hands and not your faces?
o boy plugging yer buddy again .....does he pay you??
work on your tourny and reads man
A substantial majority of them were good. They certainly don't all make the video. All it takes is one bad one unfortunately... and it's always going to make the video.
Yup i understand, 90% is folding. I would of flat called with 10s, but i dont blame your shove
he was ahead and had fold equity. he doubles up there and this could be a diff story. got to take chances sometimes.
:)
Hey Brad, I've noticed your name "Brad Owen" is an anagram of "Polk", have you ever considered calling this the "polker vlog" thanks.
