The only issue I'll ever have with a guest character being added to a fighting game is if that character warps the game around them. But that's not a concern unique to guest characters. I don't care about how it's going to make sense from a story or lore standpoint. I play fighting games for the competition. With Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive, we know that there are dozens of ninja clans. But we know only four. So why wouldn't Mai Shiranui another ninja be one of them?? DEAD OR ALIVE x Senran Kagura - same as above ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Things however are different for games like GUILTY GEAR or BLAZBLUE which clearly take place in different world..... as a result characters like Lucy need to include multiverse thing.

I think Lucy makes sense…going from story, she’s alive… and the monowire is cool unique and different weapon to bring into Strive. Plus as a netrunner, Lucy can have installs and quick hacks. I am excited, and she was chosen for a reason.

She's optimal lore wise for obvious reasons, her aesthetic still fits with guilty gear and translating quick hacks into the arcane technology of GGs world is a more interesting combat style than yet another rushdown with David or XRD elphelt ptsd with Rebecca (assuming they don't just give up and only let Lucy use her monowires)
Part of what I love about guilty gear is the story and I’m ngl guest characters really ruin it for me. At least she does fit the aesthetic I guess. Idk man
The most negative con about guest characters I see is the chance of removing the game from stores due to license expiration like mk9 with Freddy Krueger
The good thing about guest characters being dlc is that at least should that future come, youll just have to delist the dlc and not the whole ass game like MK9. Would suck if Lucy were to be delisted some time in the future, but at least you could still play Strive

lucy is a great pick for guilty gear strive and i could even see david coming to strive in wave 5 because lucy and david are are soul mates you just cant have one without the other.
