So I have triple picture frame on the sides and front of deck. Outside is using surface screws with plugs on solid board. Next two boards are grooved I can use starter on inside and outside with wedge between the boards. This will just be on the sides. The front is plugs with wedge until the last I use starter against the house. I prefer clips I can take out rather than edge hidden clips.
Hi Shawn, thank you for your patience while we got back to you regarding your comment. Here's a link to our product training guide posted on our website that you can download. On page 52, you'll find information on how to handle butt joints for both our Edge and EdgeX clips. www.camofasteners.com/wp-content/uploads/CMO-2023-Training-Guide-V16-LR.pdf. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Hi Frank. So the great thing about our clips is that they're hidden between the groove of the boards when they are installed so you don't see them, so no need to match them to the color of your deck. If you are looking to face fasten your deck, we do offer composite screws that are color matched to deck boards.
Probably not. I use the edge clips quite a bit, and the are made to give you a consistent 3/16th spacing. Any more than that and the metal ears on the clips won't grab much of the grooved edge of the board.
@driveman figured you'd reply before the company would. What's the process for butt joints? I can't find any literature around what to use for butt joints on decks longer then 20ft

Whats the process for butt joints? Many decks I build are longer then 20ft. You have any rules or operations around butt joints?

Can the edge clip accommodate a 1/8 larger gap if necessary ?
Probably not. I use the edge clips quite a bit, and the are made to give you a consistent 3/16th spacing. Any more than that and the metal ears on the clips won't grab much of the grooved edge of the board.
