Forgot to mention in the video that, ironically even though plasma version has better support on nvidia driver, it still has ibus not fcitx. additional steps is needed to enable extra input. Which means with the major development effort on gnome, plasma still has better usability.
I love this video series! It shows the real world scenario with all the little hurdles and problems to solve, that an experinced user can solve, but a new user will quit and in the worst case will go back to windows instead of looking for another distro.
Do you maybe know Ultramarine Linux? They also habe a nice helpful Discord. I want to try it. I hate the fact that Fedora will skip X11 with their next release. Had also troubles installing Nobara 38. So installed 37 first and then updated. But was not happy with Nobara 38, installer was kind of slow. I might try Nobara Linux 39 sometimes soon. I also have an eye on VanillaOS but they sadly don't have KDE as an option, at least i think so.. Aldo do you have any experience with RegataOS ? I might try EndeavorOS too.
NVIDIA 1070 - update deleting nouveau , Nvidia driver can't be installed - Gnome edit. Kde plasma - black screen after update xD ---------- edit -------- Kde plasma version works Must run in safe mode ( tab/f2 in refind Then 525 drivers install and works in X11 mode ;)) 2h of trying Omfg
I've been distrohopping as a gaming laptop user with nvidia dGPU(Mux) and so far the best as been endeavourOS, but i still needed to install from nvidia-all to get suspend(teorically should be s3 sleep) working correctly, that said, for gaming laptops its been real hard imo, gnome also sucks compared to kde and even kde not perfect ofc, but in conclusion arch based might be (in between or)the best due to an actual community that packages things properly and support..
@@MumblingHugo surprised, i did not have a great experience with garuda in the past, and tbh EOS seems more like my kind of approach, that said yeah gaming also seems to be best on here too.

Woah great video! I was gonna try it.. guess I'll stay with ubuntu then
Plasma is actually the smoothest one, no driver issues found

Right, so far Garuda is the smoothest amongst all I have tested for my laptop

I see, the experience can be different, and lots of people don’t like the default theme from Garuda either
PatienceOS
Ventoy has been very unreliable for Linux and in safe mode.
Really? I thought it was only me on this distribution.
Inb4 the Brazilians find out about this distro and start recommending it as a joke
Hmm I sense story behind it, who’s lnb4 and why was it a joke?
Did you get a haircut? 😄
Yes, it was a very cheap shop, so…..
@@MumblingHugoDont worry it actually doesnt look that bad 😁
Haha okay thanks
Ah yes yet another distro that is just another reskin of Ubuntu.
