Let me know if you too are thinking about installing the Godmorgon Vanity! And if you found any of these tips helpful. Good luck with your home renovation. Sending all the positive vibes to you and your home!
hello! I'm not sure if you ran into this since you have the 2 drawer model (I have the 4-drawers) - but what do you do in order to tweak the drawers so they align and close evenly? The install instructions don't go into this, but there must be some ways to tweak some small adjustments...
Hi thank you for your vid, May I ask if the sink and vanity from ikea is still look good for long life time? Thank you in advance ^^ I am in the middle of making decision of my home renovation too 😍
I love that you are working with your dad on this project. My dad and I did a lot of home renovating together, he believed his daughter should be as knowledgeable as his sons. I am on my own now, but I am thankful for the lessons every time I start a new project. Next project, master bathroom, and I may consider the Ikea cabinets. Thank you!
Im an architect and do all my Master Bedroom vanities at 36" inches ..... 0.00091 KM off the floor. A 5'-4" client wanted his vanity at 39" ... 0.99 M off the floor so he could splash the water in his face without throwing his back out. GREAT video!!!
"Dad not included" Haha this was so well done ! I learned so much and I feel less afraid to change things around when looking at condos!! Such a helpful video :)
IKEA bathroom vanities are so nice. We also did a bathroom makeover and what a transformation. The drawers are spacious n you can fit alot in there. I like that you decided on a floating base. We added legs to ours. Still all in all, it came out good. 👍😉
Jessie Perez aw that is so great to hear!! What a process but so worth it! Such a savings and still great simple style. You're so right about all the space. Happy to hear it went well for you beauty!
Go to search for this vanity and up pops your video. I love it. Thanks for showing how much actually fits into the drawers. I wish Dad was included. I could use some help!!! lol
Tiffany Bland that's so kind of you to say!! I was worried it was too long but man alive there are so many things to do that I would have never considered! All the best Tiffany! We still love it!
Hey Amanda, a shout-out to your dad The Mechanic! We just bought two Godmorgon wall cabinets (75 inches tall) and I only found one stud in the area where we are planning to hang both cabinets. I will definitely get in there with my drywall saw like he did and add a cross-brace to hold that load. Installing next month--wish me luck!
Oh gosh I'll be sure to tell him Geoff!! I'm so grateful for all his help with this one! Sending you alll the luck 🥰 Hope it goes well! Highly recommend looking into a variety of hardware. Make it your own!
@@AmandaWeldon We also plan to replace our builder-grade double vanity with a pair of these Godmorgon vanities, using the double-sink top, or a granite top with vessel sinks.
Great video Amanda, very helpful especially from the drainage hookup perspective. I just purchased this same Ikea unit but thankfully have the luxury of a full reno so all the walls are open and plumbing can be moved relatively easy. So great to see your Dad helping out. I'm a Dad too and I'm always trying to get my daughters (12 and 14) involved in all my reno projects to set them up with some skills for the real world. Anyway I think you're awesome and have subscribed to your channel! Cheers from Vancouver!
Gareth! Thanks so much for such a thoughtful comment! It's been phenomenal learning from my Dad and to be honest it's a great time to make memories as well. I love to hear that you want to do the same with your daughters. I feel so much more empowered in my life learning these lessons and knowing I can do these things myself. Good luck on the reno! That sounds like it's going to be an awesome change!
Nice Video. I have water pipes coming from the floor about 5 inch from the back wall. Would they collide with the drawer. How far is the drawer from the back , closed. My back wall is covered with tiles. Would the anchors in the tiles be enough to hold?
“You might need a dad to finish this project” Me: *running to the phone to call my dad 😂 One thing I love about this vanity is that if your toilet is right next to the sink or directly across your guests can pull open the drawer to get toilet paper instead of yelling for help or sitting there freaking out cause there’s no toilet paper 🤣😂 that extra storage space underneath is a potential life saver in a powder or guest bathroom lol!
Hahah THAT IS SO TRUE!!! Omg I love it! I also put anything my fellow lady visitors might need there so they can get to it easily if need be! The best! Thanks for watching and making me smile. :)
I love how a family helps this to complete. That warmed my heart. Btw I have an idea to remodel my vanity after this video, too. I wish your positive vibe will help me thru the installation 'alone' or even much better 'not alone.' 😝🤞
I bought the godmorgen sink cabinet and top sink, but we are using faucets from Lowe’s. After watching this video I’m wondering if we are gonna be able to use the faucet now. 🤔😓
zookey93 let us know if it ends up working! I'm sure other people have done that before - just keep all your receipts for sure just in case you do have to get the IKEA one. 🙏
Hi saw your video since I'm about to install a godmorgon vanity too! You mention you wanted the vanity ht to be at 34"...did you also take into consideration the ht of the sink top when using your laser level? Or is your vanity ht actually now taller than the 34"?
Amazing video!!! Thanks for the tips. Just got the godmorgon with the dual sink odensvik. We were going to get our own faucet hardware, but you said you really need ikea faucet hardware?
Hi! So glad this helped! I would say it's going to fit the best but if you do buy another faucet just keep the receipt just in case it doesn't fit great 🥰
I probably should not be viewing this so soon after replacing my subfloor and new flooring in my 85 year young kitchen. I’ve chosen this same model for my master bath and I know this video will help a lot. Well done and thank you!
@@AmandaWeldon I just finished my installation and I gotta say, you owe your dad a dinner or two! He made it look so effortless! I love the design and the low price on this vanity, but I feel bad for the future plumber or DIY homeowner who discovers I had to cut the PVC drain pipe nearly flush to the wall in order to make the clearance for the drawers. But I could not have done this without your videos so thanks a lot Amanda! You have a great channel and should have a million more subs! And remember, Father's Day is in two weeks! ;)
I am currently installing my godmorgon vanity, did you use the tiny plastic bumpers (part number 104663)? And if so where did you position them to not leave a gap when the drawers are closed?
Very helpful video. At 32:49, i believe the P-trap must have the lower end going into the wall, instead of the other way around. The way it's installed here means the water has to travel higher up the the p-trap to drain into the wall. Please correct me if i'm wrong.
Ah that is very helpful! You probably know better than me! Thankfully this has been working without issue but the pipe bit was definitely the toughest part!
i am installing the same vanity in my bathroom in the same corner. did you have to install the vanity slightly off the wall? i am afraid the drawer will hit the door trim as it opens. or is there JUST enough room?
I remember having the same feeling. We installed flush to the wall so it does fit compact together. Putting the drawers in is tricky with the little lock but don't force anything. It should clip together and slide all the way to the back. Best of luck this one is kinda tricky!
Hi there! It’s just a compression fitting. The white pipe goes into it and you Turn it on to tighten it. No glue. I would suggest bringing the pipe you have to your local hardware shop and making sure you have the perfect size. :)
I’m building this now and confused by Step 20, so I watched your video for any insight. The instructions have you putting a final screw in the remaining hole on each side, but there’s no hole in the board on bottom of the drawer so the screw ends up screwing in above the board? What is the purpose of adding this screw?
I would definitely consult someone at IKEA about this but I really think it could work! Without the sink top the unit is flat so I assume you could just put a counter top on. However there might even be more cost effective methods if you talk to someone at IKEA :) Maybe you can just buy that one piece separately!
@@AmandaWeldon I'm about to close on my first home and I'd give anything to be able to have my dad travel here (he's a couple states away) and help me with all my projects. Stupid COVID! xoxo
Thank you so much for putting up this video, this helped me a lot to decide which color i will get. We are in the middle of renovating our common BR. Shout out to your dads! Btw what size in mirror did you get?
Aw I am so, so happy this helped! It was a mission to edit haha the mirror only came in one size when we purchased! It's the one that is around $90 Canadian :)
@@AmandaWeldon Lived briefly in Toronto. BTW, hint. I am installing Godmorgon now.I built a mount that brought the bottom of the unit to the height I wanted. It was pre-leveled. Much easier. I have no help.
We only have one stud in the wall that we have anchored the sink to... Do you think that would be enough support? I wanted to add more wood behind the wall, but my partner kept insisting it will be fine... I am unconvinced. Please help!
Hi there! So sorry for the late response - I know I wouldn't feel totally happy with just one stud in the wall. What you can do for extra support is purchase the legs if you really are not comfortable! That will give the extra support you may need :)

Amanda, I'm one step ahead of you. We have some RH hardware on other pieces and I've found that drawer pull and ordered them for the cabinet to match.

you are so lucky to have your dad install for you .
I feel very lucky. I have learned so much from him over the years and I feel very grateful to have him be so patient along the way so I can learn too.
I've never realized you can split the plywood(or ikea wood) if you screw it too tight, you learn something new every single day!
Omg yes! And it can happen so quickly! Thanks for watching love!
because it is not wood at all
Awsome job daddy thanks 🙏
