Is there a Snorkle 1 in Chicago? All I ever see is Snorkle 2’s 2- piece company? Who are those guys in white shirts hauling hose with no gear?

They are two apparatus Squad companies. The second vehicle is their snorkel. Squads 1, 2, 5, and 7 are still in service. The independent snorkel companies were absorbed by squad companies in Oct 1980 or taken out of service.

The two white shirts are Battalion 11, who was the still chief, and 222, the Deputy District Chief of the 2nd District.

Was Squad 3, Truck 81 or Engine 51 present at the scene?

      Nope!

I've always wondered why certain numbers are or are not used on the Engines and Trucks - Specifically the ones we know from TV and movies - 17, 51, 3, 81, 46, etc

@TheToyfreek they don't use active companies on tv/movies. All those companies, except truck 81 because trucks don't go that high, were in service though at some point in time

@@rcor87 i was joking guys! But all the way from australia, we find it interesting that its not in sequential order as well. Just a huge Chicago Fire fan

@evo9rocks1 I know you were, haha. I was responding to @TheToyfreek.
But to your question, they are not in sequential order for a few reasons. There are way more engines than trucks in any US fire department, so engine number, for example in Chicago, goes up to 129 while truck only ro 63. And over time, with there being less fires, companies have been taken out of service. So you'll have numbers that no longer exist.
