Hi Rachel - another pushing 50 wannabe rock chick here! I've just received my Flight Pathfinder after months of keeping a lookout for when they come back in stock here in the UK. Got mine from the Southern Ukulele Store and they told me I was extra lucky as it was the only one they received at that time. It's an absolute thing of beauty. I think it'll take me a while to get used to but I'm loving it so far (I also got the plug in headphone amp after your recommendation). Brilliant review!
That isfantastic to hear Anne-Marie, you have got yourself a beauty of an electric uke, I love mine. Thanks for the lovely comment and have fun rocking it up!
Hi Rachel after watching this great video I knew instantly that I had to have one and soon discovered they are as scarce as hens teeth. I live in Adelaide Australia but for the Christmas holidays I’m on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. I’ve been on my iPad constantly searching for Flight Pathfinder all to no avail when up popped and name I recognised of a company just 10k from where I live in Adelaide. To cut a long story short he had one left and low and behold it was the same colour as yours, which is what I wanted. Bingo deal is done I can now relax and look forward to what awaits me when I get home. Thank you so much for your video tutorials I love them, keep them coming Regards Stephanie (Down Under)
Awesome to hear Stephanie, I am so glad you managed to get one. They are often out of stock so to get one so close to you - woo hoo! Hope you are enjoying it.
What an incredibly comprehensive review! Thank you so much! That color looks like the ocean to me, which reminds me of home. I’ve been only playing baroque and finger style on my ukulele, but been delving into rock to see if this would be something I’d actually use. At least now I know it’s a very decent instrument! Hope you’re still enjoying it!
Thanks for the lovely comment. Yes still loving it, recently put new strings on it and they make it sound and play even nicer. Baroque and finger style would sound awesome on this too “rocked up”. I love playing remixes of Baroque stuff to the kids in school. 🤘
As always, great review Rachel, totally agree that it's best played with fingers/thumb rather than a pick as the strings are so light. Hours of fun in prospect experimenting with a myriad of effects.
Thank you for a lovely review. I must say, it has a beautiful sound and so versatile too. Never thought about effects for a Uke. Lovely playing too. Maybe in my future I may invest in a solid body uke.
Great review Rachel, you are indeed very lucky to have one. I've been keeping my eye out but as you say they're always out of stock. Who knows when but i will definitely be getting one of these. Stunning instrument!
Hi again Rachel. Just bought a Flight Phantom from SUS and Flight must have listened to your comments about their Gig Bags - the one I got now has shoulder straps and a hanging loop. Happy Newkulele Year to you!
I'd love to think Flight heard me moaning but doubt it, sorry Mike. I've also got a couple of Flight Voaygers (same series as the beautiful Phantom) and mine also had shoulder straps. I think that's why I was a bit disappointed that they weren't on this case. How are you finding the Phantom, such a beauty.
Yes it is a beauty. It’s taking me a while to bond with it so far and it doesn’t seem to project as much volume as I expected - probably just need to play it more. I’ve decided to post a new song each day on my Channel now we’re back in lockdown so will get plenty of opportunity to use it - although I’ve managed to acquire a total of 14 Ukes including 2 Basses 😉
Thanks Stephen. Personally I think the rubber strings generally sound more like an upright, especially fretless but you can get a decent upright sound using flatwounds on a fretless. Fretted, rubber stings definitely sound more like an upright. Hope that helps a little.
Thank you for an excellent review video, but because you have set the tone control halfway up, there is much less difference between the pickups. Try the tone knob full up. and you'll hear a big difference.
I have to say if i started to watch all your videos I would do nothing else. But I do have to admit I do really appreciate your channel you are the ultimated UkeMama! At least according to me.

Hi Gus, lovely to hear from you again. Yes, I would still recommend this beautiful uke. Apart from being a looker, it really is nice to play and yes, I have a more expensive strat type uke but I pick this one up just as much. I would also recommend the Flight Vanguard (new model out) as this is also great value for money and as beautiful as the Pathfinder. No issues with the Pathfinder either.
Hi Rachel!! i love the reviews you have done on the flight electric ukes! Is there anything for tuning different than it would be with a normal ukulele? I
Hi, I love my Pathfinder, really lovely to play and look at. I haven't played a Centurion, so difficult to comment sorry but as long as it's set up well from a uke shop I'm sure it would be good. I've bought mine from Southern Ukulele store if that helps.
hello, i got mine today (the black one). maybe it was the last i could buy in germany, cause it is everywhere sold out. so it is my first electrical and it is more different to play as of my accoustics as i thought. i already own a harley benton hb-20r.
Congratulations on your new uke, I love the black colour too. Yes, they are still very hard to get hold of, I'm hoping now you have had it a couple of weeks your are adjusting, it is different to the acoustics.
Hello Rachel! Thank you for a wonderful content from a new subscriber. I'm all but decided to buy a solid body electric ukulele, but I cannot decide between Flight Pathfinder and Flight Centurion. Guitar-wise, I strongly prefer Les Pauls over Strats, but it seems to me that the Pathfinder has a lot going for it (the neck single-coil offering greater sound variability, the 4 in line tuners, the belly and the arm contour, lower price) with basically no drawbacks compared with the Centurion (i. e. the bridge is the same, the scale is the same, I still get the bridge humbucker) except for the looks, which is obviously subjective (but I do love me a single cut). Do you have any insight that could help me with my dilemma?
Apologies for the late reply. I think it is very much personal taste with shape, but in terms of playability, I haven't tried a Centurion but have heard many good things about them, I opted for the Pathfinder as my preference is Strat shape and I have a Risa LP. Go with your instinct but either way, I would try and get one from a specialist ukulele shop so it is setup well. Let me know what you decide.
I just discovered this little beauty and your channel, I just subscribed. You are a lovely lady and I love your tattoos! I decided I am going to get this Uke and of course it is still out of stock! Has it ever come back IN stock since you did this review????
Thanks for subbing! They have come back into stock in the UK but sold out again quite quickly but I'm sure you will get one, just a matter of watching and possibly waiting a bit longer. Where are you living and I'll try and keep an eye out for them.
I purchased a Pathfinder from a well-respected shop who did a setup, but it has a serious intonation problem. If I tune the open strings, all the fretted notes are flat. I wonder if this can be addressed, or if the zero fret is just in the wrong place? It has been suggested that maybe I am pressing too hard at the frets but even with the lightest touch the intonation problem occur. Any advice? Thank you!
Hi Martha, I would initially check with the shop where you bought it. It might be a case of trying to set the intonation using the adjuster on the bridge / saddle maybe. It does also need a much light touch but definitely check with the shop.
Thanks Kurt. I don't have a Flight Centurion (yet!) but I can promise that there will be some comparisons with other solid body electric ukes very soon!!
Hi Pat, yes this one is a tenor and as far as I know, Flight doesn't make a baritone solid body uke. Fanner also makes electric solid body ukes and they do make baritone ukes in various styles if that helps. www.fannerelectricukulele.com/
I still think it is a cracking uke and it is still playing really well. The only thing I have done to it is put new strings on. I have heard that Flight Instruments are now going to be available in the US on reverb but also worth checking out alohacityukes.com/collections/flight
I ordered one of these not knowing that it comes with a low g string I still don’t know how to tune the low g string what is an Octave down is it - 50 on a ukulele setting on a clip on tuner or is it a g on the guitar setting or cand i just tune it to standard GCEA im so confused
Hi, set the tuner to C which stands for chromatic - this means it will pick up all notes. The low G should be much easier to tune then. It is an octave lower than a normal high G, if you think of a piano or keyboard, it is just the next G going down in pitch. Octave = 8 notes lower.
Hi Gabriel, I'm not aware of any made specifically for LH but I know Alex @SouthernUkuleleStore recently did a video about the Flight Pioneer electric ukulele as he is a left handed player and thought it was the most suitable uke for a LH player. ruclips.net/video/spGhQ2z-cms/видео.html
Hi, i got a question about the ukulele! Does it fit in other cases to? I wanted to buy the ukulele and a extra hard case but idk if it will fit. And i really liked your review! :)
I would say go for it! It takes a bit of getting used to but definitely worth the effort and you are obviously making great progress with finger style. 👍
@@UkuleleWales Now i feel more reassured with my purchase. Learning Sweet Child o Mine on the acoustic to prepare for this beauty! Your electric series have been so helpful! THANK YOU!
Hi Bridget, yes you can use electric guitar strings - gauge 10 - 46, top 4 strings. I've just done a video on it as I've been meaning to change the strings for a while. ruclips.net/video/jphlP_xkfUU/видео.html
I need ur help. I bought a "luna tattoo concert ukulele", and when I went to tune it I noticed something. It says the first string is e, the second and third are both c's, and the 4 is another e. I thought it was meant to be g,c,e,a. Not e,c,c,e. Could u please explain this to me, as I am a complete beginner
Hi, firstly because it is new, it is probably very out of tune. Don't panic, 2 things. Watch this video about tuning a new / very out of tune ukulele. ruclips.net/video/RiaA-h9jv7k/видео.html Make sure your tuner is set to U or Ukulele once you have got it quite close in tune from watching the video. It will take a while for the strings to stay in tune, but once you have done the first BIG tune up you can use your tuner. Hope this helps.
I find it funny that people are making electric ukes whit steel strings and Cavaquinhos (Grandfather of the ukelele) have been around 400 years with them.
Hi, I'll admit I am no expert but I did look into the Cavaquinhos after your mention of them. Interesting instrument! I do think though the more recent solid body electric ukuleles are different agin, far more like the modern electric guitars. Thanks for the info, always good to learn about the history of the ukulele.
@@UkuleleWales Hi 😘 it's quite interesting and surprising that a lot of people don't know that the beginning of ukelele was very close by, even the tuning is a bit close like DABE or GGBD with the first string being sharper than the others
Hi, sorry without hearing the uke it is difficult to tell. Have you measured the action? It is possible to adjust the string height at the bridge - maybe worth trying a little. If it was me, I would have a look at some guitar vids to maybe get an idea. Sorry I can't help more. Where did you buy it from - maybe they can help?
Not really to be honest, I think the Flight is a very decent instrument all round. Yes, the Risa is better but not by twice the price if you look at it like that. News on my new Fanner soon, there are a lots of things considering it is cheaper than the Risa too.
Not sure if it's 'cause you need really light touch with these, but this whole review the Uke is really out of tune. Sounds weird kinda weird. Insightful review though, thank you! 🙂
Hi Luki, I know there are one or 2 places where I am bending the notes and possibly being heavy with my left hand but I wouldn't say it is really out of tune all the way through. Maybe your pitch is better then mine.
Southern Ukulele Store actually posted on FB this morning that they actually had one in stck after contacing those on a waiting list. Just check, sorry it's already gone but they do have a centurion in stock: www.southernukulelestore.co.uk/shop-by-type/electro-acoustic/flight-centurion-electric-solid-body-tenor-ukulele-goldtop/ Also, just found the Pathfinder in black in stock here: jgwindows.com/ukuleles/ukuleles/flight-pathfinder-tenor-electric-ukulele-trans-black.html It is very hit and miss to find them in stock as they all sell so fast. Good luck.
This shop seems to have them in stock althogh I have no personal experience of buying from them: www.ukeuniverse.co.uk/product/pathfinder-tenor-electric-ukulele-trans-blue/
I am definitely gonna look it up closer, but its just so sad that i would have to pay extra 70-100 bucks for tax and shipping to EU. If I cant find it anywhere else I might just pay, because this product is so great:)

Congratulations on your new uke, I love the black colour too. Yes, they are still very hard to get hold of, I'm hoping now you have had it a couple of weeks your are adjusting, it is different to the acoustics.
Good to hear, that you can put normal e-guitar strings on it.
I'm pretty sure that is what I have read, the top for from a set. If I discover differently I'll post here.
Thanks
Thank You Jo, very much appreciated! 😊
@@UkuleleWales I am in the USA!!
Great video! Is it possible for you to perhaps compare the Flight Pathfinder and Flight Centurion? Thanks.
Thanks Kurt. I don't have a Flight Centurion (yet!) but I can promise that there will be some comparisons with other solid body electric ukes very soon!!
Did you say iris a tenor? Do they make baritone solid body? Thank you for the vid.
Hi Pat, yes this one is a tenor and as far as I know, Flight doesn't make a baritone solid body uke. Fanner also makes electric solid body ukes and they do make baritone ukes in various styles if that helps. www.fannerelectricukulele.com/
2 questions, how has this uke held up after a while of having it, and where can I get it in the US?
So good!!!
Are there models for left-hand players?
Hi Gabriel, I'm not aware of any made specifically for LH but I know Alex @SouthernUkuleleStore recently did a video about the Flight Pioneer electric ukulele as he is a left handed player and thought it was the most suitable uke for a LH player. ruclips.net/video/spGhQ2z-cms/видео.html
@@UkuleleWales Thank you for your recommendation!! I'll check it up! Hugs
Hi, i got a question about the ukulele! Does it fit in other cases to? I wanted to buy the ukulele and a extra hard case but idk if it will fit. And i really liked your review! :)
Hi, it does come with a case but I know it also fits in the Risa ABS hard case if that helps. Thanks for the lovely comment.
Thank you!
I can play about 10 fingerstyle songs now on the acoustic...would you say I'm ready to step it up on this electric ukulele?😢
THANK YOU!
After having the guitar for a year have you found electric ukulele strings? If so what brand and gauge are you using?
Hi Bridget, yes you can use electric guitar strings - gauge 10 - 46, top 4 strings. I've just done a video on it as I've been meaning to change the strings for a while.

@@UkuleleWales Yes. Perfect I just watched it .
Watch this video about tuning a new / very out of tune ukulele.
ruclips.net/video/RiaA-h9jv7k/видео.html
Make sure your tuner is set to U or Ukulele once you have got it quite close in tune from watching the video.
It will take a while for the strings to stay in tune, but once you have done the first BIG tune up you can use your tuner. Hope this helps.
@@UkuleleWales Thank you very much, this is brilliant!
@@UkuleleWales Hi 😘 it's quite interesting and surprising that a lot of people don't know that the beginning of ukelele was very close by, even the tuning is a bit close like DABE or GGBD with the first string being sharper than the others
i have one too but mine has zero fret buzz on the c string anyway to fix that by myself?
try adjusting the saddle height of that string, a slight change should do it
Hi, sorry without hearing the uke it is difficult to tell. Have you measured the action? It is possible to adjust the string height at the bridge - maybe worth trying a little. If it was me, I would have a look at some guitar vids to maybe get an idea. Sorry I can't help more. Where did you buy it from - maybe they can help?
Poor relation to the Risa version ? half the price. half as good?
Maybe your pitch is better then mine.
does anyone know where to buy this uke, i cannot find it for sale anywhere, always outta stock:(((( ?
Southern Ukulele Store actually posted on FB this morning that they actually had one in stck after contacing those on a waiting list. Just check, sorry it's already gone but they do have a centurion in stock: www.southernukulelestore.co.uk/shop-by-type/electro-acoustic/flight-centurion-electric-solid-body-tenor-ukulele-goldtop/
Also, just found the Pathfinder in black in stock here: jgwindows.com/ukuleles/ukuleles/flight-pathfinder-tenor-electric-ukulele-trans-black.html
It is very hit and miss to find them in stock as they all sell so fast. Good luck.
This shop seems to have them in stock althogh I have no personal experience of buying from them: www.ukeuniverse.co.uk/product/pathfinder-tenor-electric-ukulele-trans-blue/
@@UkuleleWales wow great, thank you alot!!!
I am definitely gonna look it up closer, but its just so sad that i would have to pay extra 70-100 bucks for tax and shipping to EU. If I cant find it anywhere else I might just pay, because this product is so great:)
@@manueloverhoff3493 My pleasure to help, I do hope you manage to get one soon. Totally agree, shipping and taxes is now a real problem, especially because of Brexit (which I HATE!!). Fingers crossed for you to get one.
they should try to make a mini floyd rose
I'm not a guitar expert but I'm assuming you mean the bridge? I do like the way they have "shrunk" the hardware down though.
Keep on rockin in the not quite so free as it was world.

Hi Gus, was with you up until the Spanish as that turned into a bit of a rambe.
Funnily enough I used to do a lot of busking in my younger days but on double bass, not ukulele. I have done a bit on uke in the last few years as we have a busking festival locally.
Too bad, they are sold out everywhere in germany
I think they are sold out world wide Tom, hopefully they will be back in stock soon. I know I was very lucky!!
Awesome Review and playing. Earlier this year, I purchased a Fanner electric Uke. If you're interested, check out our latest vid where I used it for all the melody lines.
Thank You very much! Will go and check out your vid. YES!! I am definitely going to aim to get a Fanner, already have it all planned in my head. LOL
