For those of you yet unaware, I think it should be said that one of Elise's most beloved qualities is that she never, ever gives up. She's the definition of "fall down seven times, get up eight." There's so much strength in that; it's called character. Most people with this quality are never as kind and sincere as Elise is, including myself, because it's such a hard balance to maintain. The girl dances on a tightrope.

What about this as an idea for filming your town as a tourist: film your video of exploring special areas around town (without needing to record the audio) , then do a voice over in the style of those self guided tours with the recording through headsets explaining the significance of different areas and points of interest.

I think whitewashing the brick is a great idea! That being said, will you be sealing the brick in case you (or subsequent owners) decide you don't like the whitewash after all? I believe you can still whitewash over the sealant...but check with your local builder type people, just in case.💖

Your garden is lovely. I'd try the grapes. Maybe juice them. Or make jelly. You should put out some bird feeders, a bird bath. If I was a bird, I'd pick your garden to live in.

An easy way to deter or get rid of weeds is to make a mixture of:
    1 gallon vinegar
    1 cup of salt
    1 tablespoon of dish soap
Mix together and pour on with a watering can or sprayer, preferably on a sunny day. The weeds die very fast and stay away for awhile. It’s no chemicals and works great!

I think with the white wash you may have to change the colors in the room. Maybe you could do something near but outside of your hometown. The minute you started reading that question, I was worried. Then I was relieved that you were already thinking cautiously. I’m going today to buy some chrysanthemums, like yours, and looking in storage for my Fall decor. It’s a little early, but we’ve had a hot, rainy summer and I need a lift.

I did not know you played badminton. Do you watch videos on YT before you take on a project you've never done before ?? Like white washing the brick. I do. I become a research junkie. I'd rather spend some time researching and learning what not to do from someone else than making big avoidable mistakes. 😊

Research faux German schmear for your brick .
Mime us not real brick like yours so I used sheetrick putty/ spackle instead of morter.
You can use that or real morter on your real brick in color of your choice.
It is a more vintage/ antiqued look than white wash.
I know whichever you choose to do will be beautiful ❤

Yey!!! I don't read either - snippets of things in mags sometimes but I don't want to fill my head with fictional nonsense and I read lots at school and have a love of garden books and interiors but like you keep busy with practical things.

Élise, will you ever turn your face in the other direction? I thought it was impossible but I’ve been watching your videos for years and you are always looking to the left. How can you always be making sure to do this? I start to have a neck ache myself 😅

I whitewashed an orange brick fireplace wall before and I loved it. I started to do it with white paint but it looked too stark so I switched to tan paint and liked that better. The trick is to not use very much paint in the water. You can always add more and give it a second coat if it is too light. If you use too much paint there is no going back. You want to see the light and dark bricks and not have a matte look. My husband liked it so much he wanted me to go outside and do the chimney too. I told him I'd think about it and sold the house haha.
