What sucks is not enough people know about this tech to force their hand. Hall effect parts are not expensive now so there is really no other excuse. Great video.
So true, definitely trying to spread the word as much as I can! Also definitely want to try soldering my own controller with Hall effects. Hopefully it’s a simple process and I can encourage more people to do it too
Sony are scaming the consumers, I checked the most sold Sony PS5 items, the PS5 was at the top and your usual games but in the top 20 there was like 4-5 different versions of the dualsense, they are selling like crazy due to the bad build quality and the fact that there are no other choices on the market. It's a monopoly.
TLDR: "I have tried hall effects no problems" "Sony makes more money this way" "a modding company desisted from making hall effects mod" bruh I expected you show some sort of comparison
Great video subbed and shared on Twitter. Edit: I found a company in TX that says they can add hall sticks to the modules. I'm gonna try to check them out.
Gulikit TMR modules are great, there is a calibration software for the dualsense controller, the developer of that software is working to make one for the dualsense edge controller
On an unrelated note, what's the name of the music that plays at the start? It's genuinely one of my favourite royalty free songs, but I still don't have the name. 😅
What happened is I was forced to learn how to solder so that I can change the sticks to hall effect. I broke few controllers in the process, but now I have already replace my 3 controllers to hall effect by myself.
Erm akchally the traditional hall effect sticks is not really as accurate as normal sticks however there is one more tipe of stick called TMR it has all the benefits of hall effect but is also arguably the most accurate sticks
Liked and subscribed!!! I may have to learn soldering my self too, my controller is 5 months old and is stick drifting like crazy. I don’t want to buy a new controller every 6 months, mine as well make controller subscription $10 a month and if the controller brakes send it back an get a new one jaja
Honestly hoping we just get like ebay sellers who sell reasonally priced ps5 dual sense motherboards with hall effects already installed so we can just swap it in.
I just wish 3rd party companies could make these modules so we won’t have to constantly see:out of stock for the official ones. I’d happily buy 3rd party stick module replacements for my edge especially if they’re the Hall effect type.
amazing points. i just hope that they either produce more thumb stick modules or just release newer versions with hall effect sticks so you don’t need to produce any more stick modules. only reason to own a playstation is just for the exclusives which Sony brought like insomniac. i just want a controller which has hall effect, trigger stoppers or mouse click, no paddles ( right hand claw player, i dint use paddles because i’m not good with them but if they want they can have options for none, 2 or 4). and just over all built well, i would have no problem paying 300-320 for a controller that I KNOW FOR A FACT will not get stick drift or break. the same should go for nintendo, there gamecube official controller sometimes drift but i’m not sure about he pro controller. xbox controllers too, but i only heard or seen a video once about a elite 2 having drift so they seem to be doing a fine job.new sub edit: do you know of phantom has controllers without back buttons or paddles?
Thanks! Word just like you id be willing to pay top dollar for a reliable and durable controller. hmm yea I dont think they currently make any hexgaming phantom optiosn without the back buttons unfortunately.
@@gg_sheed think so, unfortunately I’m on a mobile device so I can’t link the video, search up Uber micro repairs dualsense edge Hall effect sticks v3.5 with driver boards, it might take a bit which sucks because this is what Sony should of done in the first place 🥇.
Hall effect thumbsticks suffer from stick drift too. All the 8BitDo Ultimate Xbox/PC controllers (both wired and bluetooth) use hall effect sticks, and they develop stick drift, some after just days. They also have slower response time. If anything, hall effect sticks seem to suffer from stick drift and other issues more than regular potentiometer sticks. I don't know if this is actual foul play by controller makers. When mice started having double click issues, some mice makers said this wan't them trying to break mice, but this was because the market of switches was monopolized by a Japanese brand named Omron, and that brand made sure those switches break over time. It wasn't until mice makers started making their own switches, that the issues started getting resolved. Something similar might be happening with controllers.
Yea it’s expensive but there isn’t much competition out there currently. I gotta try the 8bitdo controller too. It only has two back buttons which is a bit disappointing but still a good option. But to work with the ps5 doesn’t it need an adapter? Guilikit controllers seem dope too but again I don’t think they have native compatibility with the ps5. So controllers like hexgaming and Vitrix that work for all platforms def sell at a premium because there’s not much competition yet…
I’m def gonna try soldering my own tho. That might be the best option if it’s relatively simple to do. But I understand folks who don’t want to do all of that

I think scalpers have gotten a hold of those surplus thumb sticks and they’re holding them back to raise the price.

It would be super fun watching you trying DIY on your controllers! Btw really enjoying your videos, keep up the good work
This was some great info to have for looking into getting a new controller, thanks for making such a well put together and informative video!
Hi, is the Dead Zone hall effect analog smaller and more accurate than the original analog for ps4 and ps5?

Do you pronounce it as: soul-der or saw-der? When you talk about soldering.
i pronounce it as soul-der
Both of my controllers are experiencing this. Barely used my second one. Ridiculous
I bought two controllers for the ps5 already. I had to buy a 3rd one with Hall effect joysticks

@@gg_sheed that’s fine, by the way someone modified the sticks for the dual sense edge to have hall effect modules
Really? I gotta check that out. they arent selling them I suppose? its a manual mod?

Apparently there was a ps3 controller with a hall effect sensor
$200+ for hall effect is actually just pure greed. 8bitdo and Gulikit make sub 50$ controllers with hall effect joysticks and triggers. It's unhinged.

Don't forget Flydigi, who actually make better controllers than Sony, Microsoft, and pretty much anyone else.
I've bought 5 ps5 controllers now
I’m tired of buying new controllers
Send me your hex gaming controller, I’ll install Gulikit TMR modules on it
And you're gonna charge 80 bucks, no thanks.
These are meant to break on purpose its a literal scam that sony is running. Its all by design.
